    Re: Baserunning

I think everybody who relies on auto baserunning is having these major issues, I just think we aren't a large part of the population. I tried for a few minutes to learn manual and gave up. I simply do not want to control my baserunners. I don't want to accidentally run into outs because I don't know what I'm doing. Auto baserunning gives me the realism I want because the computer makes the baserunning decisions I am not smart or quick enough too. I have played this game the same way since like '08 for PS3. So why is it I have to change? I just want to hit, pitch, and let the computer control my baseunners/fielding/throwing... It's the experience I have enjoyed for years. Why did they break it this year? Yeah maybe it's minor to some, to me, it's a deal breaker with the game.

This game is way too highly rated btw. It's like we just accept whatever they put out and say it's good anymore. Check Ramone's Twitter... It's him
Replying to bug after bug after bug... Granted I mainly care about this one and that's a tangent, but I'm not very happy right now after seeing patch #1 without a fix.

I agree, and I am extremely disappointed about auto baserunnning. Fortunately I'm editing pitchers right now and probably for another week or two. But, yeah, it is a game killer for those like us.

Last night, 1 out, runners on 2nd & 3rd. Base hit up the middle. Both runners stand frozen (I had queued nothing). I notice this, and press L1 to advance all runners. The runner on 2nd heads to the 3rd. The runner on 3rd, retreats to 3rd. Two men on 3rd, ugh. Rally killed. I lose by one.

I haven't guys diving back to the back like some of mentioned - that would drive me up a wall. What I do see is overaggression. I like base runners that aren't scare to try to take extra bases, but I think some discretion is in order. For example, once Hanley Ramirez hit a double. The throw missed the cut-off man and rolled away, causing the 3B to have to go get it. Ramirez saw 3B open...but he didn't see the pitcher was like 10 feet away. Once Ramirez broke for third, the pitcher covered and he was out by a mile. Rounding 3rd to score is another where I see some really bad decisions. I might have to raise OF arms to try to curtail it. I don't mind losing runners to good aggression that the defense just snuffs out. That's baseball. But too many totally poor decisions that pretty much no real runner would do. I'm hoping raising OF arm strength will make them think twice now and then.

I mostly have direct control (L analog + base button) working well on assisted, but I can't for the life of me ever get L1/R1 to advance/return all runners to do what I intend. It never seems like all baserunners queue to advance one base each. I'm not sure if you're supposed to tap or hold it because neither seems to work for me.

              Are you using auto baserunning?

Okay, I was asking because you didn't seem to be having the issues others were.

I don't either. Mine only happen when I tell the runner on first to steal on a hit & run. Weird that it happens to so many but not to everyone. I've not once had the "dive back to the bag" deal happen, and I've played through mid May in my season.

Yeah - if anything I'm getting the other way - runners that all think they are Lou Brock. Had Ortiz and his whopping 0 speed rating try to go 1st to 3rd. I was like...really Ortiz? Really?

I use auto base running and I just can't see it only happening to some and not all due to everyone possessing the same game. It happens to me all the time. Maybe some are not using replay to notice the bug?

Well, I think I'd notice if my runners were diving back to the bag on clear lined base hits.

I mean, line drive single and my runner at 3rd doesn't score. I think I'd see that! Likewise, runners freezing between bases on steal attempts. Not hard to see.

It could be a glitch that happens intermittently. Maybe I'll see it later. Maybe it's a corrupted piece of data somewhere. We all have the same game but not the same circumstances, franchises, playing the same modes, etc.

Have you tried to do a queued steal to see what happens?

The reason I ask is that some have said it will turn off auto baserunning into manual.

It will. I've noticed that constantly. If I do a hit and run, I have to make sure I'm alert if it's a base hit so that maybe he can go to third. Normally, I don't do hit-and-runs because of this unless the CPU goes and the pitch is a good one to hit (or it's a poor steal ability guy with good speed, someone like Jackie Bradley, Jr., because then I assume that's the play).

Just to say that as a longtime auto baserunning user I am also finding the problems people are talking about. Only 2 games into my season and the first went ok but then 3 glitches in the 2nd. Worst example, a baserunner on Ist stayed put when a batter lined it into RF. Couldn't believe it. One of the commentators said how mad he would have been if he had been the batter and the runner hadn't made it to 2nd. What would he have said if he'd known the runner was still standing on Ist?? I must say I'm surprised this game was released with the auto baserunning in this state. Can't play the game at the moment.
