last year and this year, both... this is probably the most annoying thing in the game for me. i, too, used to get the battered player syndrom... "is it something i'm doing wrong?" no, it isn't. i started playing with all my fingers extended just to probe to my son i wasn't hitting any additional buttons. it doesn't happen all the time, but it happens enough that it can sometimes ruin a game, and it seems they'll never address it, since it was in there all of last season as well.

Re: Baserunners Diving Back on Line Drive Hits (Glitch or User Error?)
I saw this for the first time today.
Piscotty on first and Brandon Moss hit a hard ground ball that was fielded by Jaso. Piscotty retreated to the bag instead of going to second which made for an easy double play.
I used power swing, and I doubt I touched the R1 button. It was odd as the ball never was in the air. *shrugs*I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Baserunners Diving Back on Line Drive Hits (Glitch or User Error?)
UPDATE:
So I have been trying to focus on keeping my right hand off the R1 and R2 buttons will hitting with men on base, and this seems to be solving the issue. I only had the problem happen once over the weekend, and when it did I noticed my hand was on the buttons, so it may very well be that when I was power swinging I was inadvertently squeezing R1/R2.
Until further notice, I'll chalk it up to user error.Comment

Maybe just some additional animation sets were put in and they are kicking it a little too often? They definitely added a bunch of new animations for MLB 16 in a LOT of different scenarios, maybe this scenario is one where it needs to be tuned a bit.Last edited by HypoLuxa13; 04-11-2016, 02:56 PM.Comment

Re: Baserunners Diving Back on Line Drive Hits (Glitch or User Error?)
I don't know, I just saw it the one time myself, and have not seen it again since. But considering the baserunning controls in The Show are the same as they have been for years, and none of us had seen this before, I don't think User error is the only factor here.

Re: Baserunners Diving Back on Line Drive Hits (Glitch or User Error?)
So tired of people postulating that this might be user error. I have been playing the game since '09 and have ALWAYS used auto baserunning and have never had a problem. After folks have suggested that the problem might be inadvertently hitting R1, i have played multiple games with my fingers no where near these buttons and the problem still occurs .This is not user error!. This is a bug/ glitch and I want it fixed. It has ruined the game for me, so i went back to The Show 15 in the meantime as i can no longer enjoy the game.
Please do nit suggest it is user error when i know, through trial and error, otherwise. This will only tend to make the developers not take the issue seriously and not fix it. PLEASE FIX THIS BUG!Comment

Yes sorry. Had to vent a bit. So this is happening when using manual baserunning as well?

Re: Baserunners Diving Back on Line Drive Hits (Bug or User Error?)
Yeah, seems like it. If it isn't user error, my best guess would be that it's somehow tied to the speed the ball is hit and it's trajectory through the infield. Like the runners are programmed to get back on line drives in the infield to avoid getting doubled up, and something about the way the ball travels through the infield when you hit it the hardest triggers that.Comment

Well that's realistic to an extent but should not occur to that level. Something still needs to fixed regardless

Re: Baserunners Diving Back on Line Drive Hits (Glitch or User Error?)
This just happened to me. I don't use Auto Base running, I had a man on 1st and 2nd with 1 out. I hit a line drive past the shortstop into the outfield and both of my base-runners dove back to the bag and the CPU ended up getting a double play.Comment

It would be helpful if you guys started posting videos when it occurs and also attaching them to the bug report.“The saddest part of life is when someone who gave you your best memories becomes a memory”Comment
