Nothing in the game is complicated? As a guy who played from T-Ball through College I would highly disagree with you that nothing in the game is complicated. There are aspects of the game that are very much like a chess match, but I don't want you falling out of your chair and hurting yourself.

Of course there is strategy involved, my argument is that it is overated. Double switches, are they really that complicated? Not even close. Nothing in this game is complicated, any manager would tell you that. It's generally the fans who like to think they are more sophisticated than other sports fans. Every time I hear some yahoo comparing baseball to a chess match I fall out of my chair laughing. This is coming from a lifelong baseball fan who follows exactly ZERO other sports.Comment

Re: The National League & the DH
Completely off topic but does anyone know a way to make custom divisions? My buddy and I always do a franchise where I'm the Yankees and he's the Mets. Last year they had the subway series every season in the game but this year it's only 2016. I want to put us in the same division so after one season we don't just sit there playing the PC.Comment

For argument's sake, it's Game Seven of the World Series in a NL park. Do you put Ortiz in the field so you can have his bat, knowing that his fielding range is about five feet in any direction, or do you sacrifice a definite run-producing threat for a more sure-handed, rangy fielder??Comment

Re: The National League & the DH
thats a bunch of bull....double switching has so much strategy. U know how many times i've watched a DS happen only for the game to go into extras with the pitcher spot ending up in the 3 hole. In the NL u can literally walk 2 batters just to make the manager make a decision....pull his starter early in hopes the PH hits a jack, or put his useless hitting pitcher (most of the time) at the plate and hope the bat hits the ball with his eyes closed. In the AL u might find a weak 8 or 9 hole hitter but if theres 2 outs and the winning runner on third and the 7 hole hitter is up theres no walking 2 batters to get to that pitcher and force the managers hand. AL strategy is slim to none. NL strategy starts before the lineup is even made.Comment

He PLAYED the game professionally.
David Ortiz's glove should be at first if you want him to hit...period.Comment

Re: The National League & the DH
Show me. Back in January he said it could happen as early as 2017 when the next Cba negotiations are. Then he recanted that and said it was up to the owners and since the financials would change so much the NL owners aren't all that interested. Manfred doesn't get to make that call at all.

Re: The National League & the DH
If "like a chess match" you mean that moves/decisions need to be anticipated and formulated in advance, well that kind of sounds like a typical Saturday - practices, games, recitals, errands, lunch, etc. Any Major League manager would have his hands full around here. But a chess match? What a joke. Some baseball fans need to get over themselves!I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
