Re: How to Set Up 30 Team Control

So anyone know what happens if I put injured guys on the DL on 3/26 instead of last day of ST?

I'll be using 30 team Franchise, 25 man rosters... Add guys to get 40 man rosters later.

You are able to reject cpu to cpu trades with 30 team control; do as I described in my previous post. Try it in 18 to see if this is possible

So I tried some stuff in 17; correct that they say you can hit X to initiate trade but nothing happens. You can definitely reject CPU/CPU trades. I got ONE trade offer as a manual team from the CPU over 1.5 years, but I have to indicate after the off season the manual team (Yankees) had no real budget room so this may be a false result. But the first full year only one offer. The issue of 'team x can't afford the contract offer to player y' happens even when the CPU is in control of offering free agent contracts.

So that's what I learned about last year's game and issues in it from this brief test. Likely not good news for 18 since you're seeing these same things.

Yeah the infrequency of trade offers sounds right, although I can't say I ever recall an offer, while with the same roster/settings, etc. in single team franchise, I receive numerous offers. It's weird, I sent MLBTheShowTips a tweet regarding it, no response.

Go to Transactions and "Pending", button over to the trades offered screen, then right (or left, depending on your preference) trigger through each team to see if a trade is offered. That's where you can view and reject it. I didn't do it in 17 either since I had it all on manual, though the CPU did make one trade before I realized I had the wrong settings moving Derek Norris (for the second time in two years!). So that is how I handled it in the past. If the CPU goes to make a trade and you skip the day (sim past it) if they agree it would go through.
That's the weird thing. I can't even see the pending trades. The only ones listed are waiver wire, designated for assignment, and waiver requests. There has to be some setting I'm missing. It was the same thing I ran into last year. All other years I've played this game I have always seen this option. I would check every day during the year just to see if anything was pending so I could reject it if needed.

To describe this further, I have two profiles. One for my team (Twins) and one for the CPU (CPU). On my profile I have everything set to manual as I want to handle everything. For the CPU profile I have everything set to Auto. The CPU will make trades but I am unable to see any pending offers and therefore am not able to reject trades that I don't want to go through. I have attempted to switch the trades setting to Manual on the CPU profile. I then went to the pending section and trades still wasn't listed.

In the mode specific tab (i think that is where it is) you can set up the profiles you want: one for you where you select manual for the things you want to control on your own and auto for the other activities; you can then save that profile to a name you want for it. Then go back in and change the settings for CPU to control all the things you want them to do, and again, create the profile with a save. Now go into the 'set team associations' and for the teams you want, use the right stick to set the profile to your profile, and set the CPUs to the one you set for them. Then do 'apply changes' and you should be good to go. I don't mess with those toggle buttons on the main menus, i don't know if they work. This and the video on the first page I hope will get you going.
I had this set up perfectly on 17, then for 18, loaded my franchise on there and wasn’t able to see free agents. I set up the team control but on the calendar screen there is no sub heading for managing contracts and offering free agents. Do I need to Cloud save my sliders or something?

There are no more "pending trade offers" because SCEA made all trades instant again. They did this last year, which is why you also ran into this issue last year....

Maybe I'm misunderstanding what you're saying; using 17, with the CPU trades on 'auto', if I simmed a day I was able to go to the Transactions>Pending>Trade offers, scroll through all the teams, find pending trades and as a 30-team control player, reject the trade. I did this last night as I described in my previous post. Again, the profile was set up for CPU (29 teams) with the auto, and my team (1) with manual, but in the CPU to CPU pending trades, I was able to reject trades.

I'm sorry I don't know what 18 has to offer.

It is sounding then to KTD1976's point that in 18 they must have removed pending trades if you're not seeing this at all. I tried this on 17 last night and was able to do all kinds of things with trades, including CPU-CPU trade rejection, accepting trades for the CPU when I offered a d prospect for Moustakas, and saw the CPU make many a trade over the year with each other. It seems that there are significant differences this year vs previous years from what I'm hearing.

Thanks Coach... Been trying to get this but not much luck must be missing a step. I go into mode specific for MY controlled teams and go to name. then I do Other teams and go to name. Then I go into franchise and first thing that comes up is enter rosters and I get that. Then its chose teams... That's where I get lost??? Am I not save the 2 "profiles" correctly? What do I chose for teams??? All of them cuz I want to control trades, free agents and waivers??? Heeeeeeelp.. Ha Ha ... Thanks again

Why they decided to remove this option is beyond me but it was a dumb choice. I can’t aim to the next day in my current franchise now without the CPU making two trades and there is no way to stop it.

This is extremely frustrating and defeats the purpose of being able to control all teams.

That is so weird because I didn't see the pending trades in 17 either. I tried everything. Btw I'm not calling you a liar at all . I just was never able to find it last year.

Taking this out is just absurd though. Checking out pending trades is one of the huge benefits to 30 team control. I just don't get that decision at all.

They removed it last year, however, in carryover franchises from The Show 16, they would still show up in 17. But, for franchises created on 17, trades were instant (though the pending trades screen was still available).

CORRECTION: It was removed in 16, not 17.

Here is the thread talking about it.

OK maybe that is the reason I'm still seeing it. My franchise is carried over from 14 so it must be a legacy thing. Sorry about that. I'm sure there are some nice improvements in 18 but the more I think about it I feel I'm better off staying with 17.
