to me there is no problem, I had the same difficulties as others are claiming to have and I did a couple things: changed my route to the ball and charged right at it as opposed to meeting it somewhere, I stopped waiting for it also because that is when the really slow animation kicks in. I also notiiced if i move my guy but let go of the left stick that is also when the slow animations kick in, regardless if i pre-load or not. I use pure analog throwing but i doubt interface has anything to do with it. just tryin to help not trying to say i got it all figured out .

Re: Charging a ground ball with a infielder?
Yeah the game play really breaks down and is most noticeably on defense when using player lock. There is a forum thread here discussing improvements to playing on defense.
It might have a influence next years game. I also hope the get rid of the similar Show Time effect on defense or at least give the option to turn it off! Only time will tell!

Also I tried to look up the games you posted but I found this instead. It looks pretty cool is this what you were referring too?

I hate the fact that both games are only in the Japanese language and I hate the fact that both games turned my love for MLB the Show completely upside down. Playing MLB the Show now feels like a complete chore. It is that heartbreaking because I love Major League Baseball and my first love was MLB the Show. MLB the Show 09 brought me back to gaming (from the days of NES/SNES) and it is what got me to buy a PS3 and MLB the Show's franchise is what got me to buy a PS4.
Is MLB the Show still the best Major League Baseball game to date? Yes.
Is MLB the Show the best overall Baseball game? Sadly no. That crown is taken by PYS/Jikkyou.
Spoiler
Both of Jikkyou and Pro Yakyuu uses the same engine. Secondly, the ball and bat physics is the best I have ever experienced in any baseball game. The "PCI" is the actual size of the baseball bat. You either make contact with the bat on ball or you completely miss. A centimeter off and you're going to swing and miss. It's pretty much on point.
One of the greatest gameplay mechanic comes from pitching for Pro Yakyuu Spirits. Even after the windup, you can still throw the pitch anywhere in the strike zone. You're not locked into the initial location you set. This helps counter those individuals that choose to abuse the bunt.

My life changed once I came across both of these games. I couldn't believe there was two baseball games that is superior to MLB the Show. The gameplay mechanics and actual gameplay is second to none. Nothing feels scripted, ever. You are in complete control of your character. You don't have to worry about lack of urgency animations found with MLB the Show. If you want to charge the ball at the last minute, you can. You are not locked into an animation. You don't get suctioned to the walls. Errors are on you. Errors don't come down to dice rolls. The animations for both Jikkyou/Pro Yakyuu are also superior (check out the pitching motion, the fielder's throwing motion, the fielder's charging the ball, the running motions, etc.)
Bonus: All-star game: Pro Yakyuu Spirits players wear their actual team uniform during the allstar game (and this was done on the PS3). For some reason, it's not possible in MLB the Show.

Re: Charging a ground ball with a infielder?
Thanks for reminding me I need to get one of those older PYS games.
I have an older Jikkyou and it's wonderful. It is too bad it's in Japanese only - but I'll get over that. I play KR and JP app games so I'll manage like I do there (yay for google translate and the spirits translation site)
Wish there was a Steam version of these games.
Like you, 09 was the game that got me back into the series. I liked 14 as well. I don't know, something about 15 and now this year. I like a lot of the things its doing, but these defensive animations (and others) need refining (or deleting)."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment

Re: Charging a ground ball with a infielder?
Yep, that's one of the baseball games, called either Pro Yakyuu Spirits (or Professional Baseball Spirits). The second one made by the same company Konami is called Jikkyou (looks cartoonish, but in fact a realistic simulation).

I know Sony has said they don't do it because it would kill the frame rate. But I really wonder sometimes how true that really is. Sometimes I think it has not been done because it would require a ton of programming time and Sony has way more important things that they want to add to them game instead of players wearing their own jerseys in the All Star game.Comment
