Only advice I have really is to wait for your pitch down the middle then if you cant get it just protect with 2 strikes.
Which hitting type are you using, zone?

Yea i'm on zone hitting using Mike's slider set. Mike you kind of lost me on the traditional stats vs output thing. I do feel that i'm getting accurate strikes and balls numbers if thats what you mean.

Proof that Rocco earned the call-up to AAA!

Proof that Rocco can still rake (occasionally)!

Here's the drop-off in production from AA to AA so far:

Here's a look at Rocco's stats. If anybody has any suggestions as to what I should be funneling my points towards it would be appreciated! I think more than anything my hitting approach and pitch recognition needs to improve

Taken from the top of my slider set (post 1):

Goals of this set (approximates, and won't be every single game):
Backup/Sim/Resim to limit AI complete games and shutouts
          60% first pitch strikes
          62% ball:strike ratio, but 65-68% for higher-end pitchers
15% foul balls per total pitches
20% swings and misses per total number of swings (misses plus strikeouts)
HBP should fall in-line with simulated games
Depending on repertoire, varied flyball to groundball ratios
The rest of your statistical accuracy will come from these. Simple.

                  Re: RTTS Winter Challenge

I forgot to mention in my last post that I was traded to the Rangers before my AAA call up. I was absolutely destroying in AAA til the end of the season but since my team didn't make the playoffs I was really hoping for a September expansion call up. Sadly it didn't come but when the next season started I found myself in big league spring training.

The MLB is a whole different monster! Maybe its because everyone throws 95+ but the ball seemed to come on me much faster. They really know how to paint the corners to. I couldn't even work a single walk over spring training but that was partly from me being so flustered. It was pretty hard to get in a rhythm because all my appearance came from pinch hitting as I didn't get a single start. I ended up hitting around .150 so I was sure I would start back in AAA but I was placed on the MLB bench.

I haven't started my season yet. I was thinking about trying my best to work through the harder difficulty but i'm 71 ovr and feel so overwhelmed. Do you guys think I should turn it down to put the sliders back on line with Hall of Fame?

Nah work through it. You'll be surprised at how much you can improve over time at this game when playing on a harder difficulty.

Yes, I agree! I'm in the process of trying to work through it in AAA. At the end of the day, its baseball, so it's not supposed to be easy

I'm in my 2nd season now and I became a bench player at theMLB level with the Mariners. Hoo boy, this MLB pitching is something else! Pitchers paint the corners time and time again. Weak contact from Rocco Bridges everywhere! Bridges is hitting around .170 at the end of May.

It's an absolute struggle right now, but I'm trying to work through it by taking pitches, taking walks, and improving my pitch recognition.

If there's any consolation, Rocco has 3 HR's (including one in his 2nd AB in the majors) so there's still some pop in the bat...somewhere anyway

A little late to the party but away we go:

                          2B Matt Lamm
                          6'2, 211lbs
                          63 OVR, B POT
Drafted in the 2nd Round with the 14th pick by the Tampa Bay Rays

I do have some competition ahead of me in the system, with competing for the AA starting spot with 18 year old B POT Edgar Visperas, A POT Willy Adames in AAA, and 81 OVR Brad Miller in the Bigs

I picked up 16 a few weeks ago saw this thread and wanted to jump in.
RF/LF Byron Reed, 22 years old, A potential
                            6'5, 215 pounds
Drafted in the first round pick 10 by Arizona (2nd favorite team yaaay)
I'm currently in AA but uh.....i play these player career modes to be a beast and have fun with crazy stats so I hope you all can have fun with me seeing how high these numbers can go. Right now I've got a 20 game hit streak.

                            Reed is comin' atcha!

Rocco Bridges is still riding the struggle bus at the MLB level. If you look closely, there has been some growth when it comes to pitch recognition which has resulted in more consistent solid contact. HOWEVA, this has not resulted in a higher batting average to this point. I would expect this to pay off over time.

One of Rocco's better games to date:

If you leave one over the heart of the plate, Rocco don't play no games:

On the bright side, it's only Colby Rasmus in front of Rocco, so how hard could it be to be a starter, right? RIGHT? Plus double digit HR's so far in the 1st season in the majors:

Entering June Byron Reed has been tearing up the AA scene for the Mobile Baybears. He currently has a hit streak of 32 games and his stats are as follows
.592, 20 HR's, 66 RBI's and 38 SB's. He has to wonder when his call up will come with the numbers he has.

                                Reed is comin' atcha!
