And it wouldn't make sense to have a Retro Mode when the cover athlete is a Current Day player.

They may not keep the "retro" presentation but I can see them keeping the simple one button gameplay if the mode shows any popularity.

I get the feeling Retro isn't going anywhere anytime soon. If anything they'll add to it imo.

I get the feeling what's gonna happen is Conquest mode is going to be dropped, Retro is going to be incorporated into DD, and you can only use Legends cards for certain rewards and throwback jerseys or something like that.

I get the feeling Retro is going to be way more popular than Conquest.

Same here. Since the inception of MLB Network a few years ago, Matty is now way more popular than he ever was before, so it was great foresight by SECA to add him to The Show when they originally did, and now he's synonymous with The Show imo, so I'm glad he's not going anywhere.

Personally, I tend to go in the complete opposite direction. What I wish they would consider moving forward is a one man booth...Matty V is fine...or whoever they decide to get.

Why? Because if they did not have to worry about the second and/or third guy in the booth, the commentary could be tweaked to:

            1) really dive deeper into current game history as well as how player is doing during season and for his career
            2) no worry about disjointed conversations, having things sound stitched together, or irrelevant, no awkward pauses or commentary while play is proceeding, etc
            3) play by play guy could be brought in as season progresses to update/add new lines (like Madden does now)
            4) would eliminate the repetitiveness we all get tired of hearing after a week or two of playing the game

I think if they just revamped with a one man booth, they could really make the commentary stellar and a lot less repetitive. Concentrate on the game at hand, with comments about how player/team is doing for the season, etc. This happens now to a certain extent, but if they expanded on it without having to throw it to another announcer for other comments, I think it would sound a lot more authentic and fresh.

Let's face it...very few have been happy with the 2 or 3 man booth. There is no indication that this model can or will get any better just due to the fact that much of the audio has to be pre-canned and we will hear it over and over. No fault of the developers, it's just the way it is...and not just for the Show...other sport games suffer from the same.

            Just my $.02...

You do know that there has been a one button mode in The Show since '11 right? The added it to help disabled gamers play the game. They have added the "Retro" features this year and I expect them to develop it more in the future. But the base mode has been in the game for a long time.

PS: They may have taken it out in the last year or so. I can't find it in '16

As someone who is working on getting into broadcasting, the commentary side of it anyway let me say that a one man booth is hard to do. At least right now because you havs to do A LOT of talking and I like having someone to bounce off of. Not eveyone can do what Scully does haha! But I'm just getting excited about the game more and more as we get closer to launch. Can't wait to see what the presentation looks like.

Re: MLB Network Presentation Confirmed For MLB The Show 17

^ Over the course of recording for a decade though, it certainly is possible.

That being said, I'm for a two-man booth myself. What they really need though is an algorithm to stitch pretty much any dialogue together like Siri, but without sounding like Siri haha. No, but what I mean is that nothing they say should be specific to an individual, but written so that it can be generated by them given their code. Not an easy thing at all, but that's the end goal for me.

Someday, we may hear the commentators talk about a player who was just traded, chasing a record, divisional standings mid-game, upcoming games on the schedule, where a ball landed on a home run (2K4 had this, it was awesome), hot and cold streaks, speculation on how a manager will play out the rest of the game (or at least who's remaining on the bench)... I mean the list goes on.

As far as repetition goes, I'm getting back into ESPN NFL 2K5, and I'm hearing the same commentary three times in a single game. Not only that, I can even finish their sentences. But I love the commentary there. I don't want to turn it off. It doesn't bug me. Whether it's the enthusiasm, the generality, the connection they have with one another, maybe even the voices themselves... it's all fantastic, even twelve years later. Even the color commentary always referred to the player by his name, instead of giving some sort of "this guy" kind of thing.

I like Matt Vasgersian in real life, but he's not the same guy in the game. Neither were Duane Kuiper and Mike Krukow in the MVP series. If Harold Reynolds is joining the booth, I believe he was also in Triple Play Baseball. I didn't own that game, so I don't know how fluid he sounded, but I believe he can sound very natural on his own, and very analytical (which is a good thing of course). Let's just hope that within that 20 cm stack of papers for recording lines contains Matty V. revisions, and not just additions.

EDIT: I take it back, it was Triple Play 2002 that HR was a commentator in.

Yes. Network presentation just adds so much as far as immersion for me in a sports game. I play EAs NCAA Basketball to this day because of presenation. The Shows on field game is A+ already so I know I'm in for a treat with 17.
