I looked at a couple sites and fooled around with stuff but I ultimately just went with settings another pro owner gave me here.

    Back light maxed
    Sharpness 0
    Color space native
    Sharpness 0
    Smart led on high

    Think that's pretty much it.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Supports 4K & HDR on PS4 Pro

I've been playing in 4K HDR for a minute and my eyes are getting used to playing even though the frame rate isn't the best, but it's very playable. Kind of reminds me of last year's game, when it comes to stutter/choppiness. I'm playing on an LG 65UH8500 and have the HDR intensity around 90% and it looks glorious. The texture work and clarity can't be matched and it is hard to go back. I was playing enhanced and it was my preferred way to play, until I just said, let me try it and I kind of dig it.

Lag hasn't been an issue for me.

I don't want any choppiness. Gonna try hdr around 90 like above but on enhanced visuals and not 4k.

I'll try 4k but it doesn't sound like it will be a long term thing for me. We are almost there though it looks like. Good to see.

Change your color space to auto. It was bugged in earlier firmware but has since been corrected. Auto is the best way to go.

I put the HDR slider all the way up as someone stated in the QA thread. Anyone with a 1000 nit HDR televison should do the same. It looks downright awesome and you guys with a 4K HDR display are in for a treat as long as you don't mind a little judder. Its nothing jarring to take anything away from the experience.

Put brightness to about 45-50. Here is a good thread to read more up on other settings

So for those that really only have room for a 43 inch and you want HDR to be mind blowing good then perhaps you may want to wait another 2 or 3 years or so before buying your new 4K HDR TV?

Maybe by the time PlayStation 5 comes out they will have much better performing 43 inch HDR TV's.

For me right now the X800D is more then good enough.
I wouldn't expect many more options in the 40-43 inch range down the road. The trend has been for more and more model lines to only have sets 49 inches and up, as bigger panels have become cheaper and cheaper. If you don't have the space a computer monitor may be your only option.

If you're talking about OLED difference where the price is sometimes more than double then that's a different story.

I don't disagree with your notion.

However in my den (my man cave) I don't need a TV bigger than 43' and anything bigger than 43' is too large for me as I play on my recliner or on the floor directly in front of my TV for gaming.

So the Sony 43' XBR was a perfect fit and a heck of a TV for $649 bucks.

I do keep my TV's for typically 9-10 years. So when I do decide to replace my Panasonic 50' Plasma (which still looks fantastic for sports and blue ray movies) in the family room, I will get a high end 65' Ultra HD 4K TV.

But for my gaming room this worked perfectly in size, picture and price. It is not an entry level tv...but also not a high end. It is a mid level 4K TV and a solid value for gamers.

Yea that's completely understandable. I meant it more if it's going to be your living room main tv. I don't keep TVs as long as you, but many people do. If it's going to be your main living room tv and you're going to keep it for a while I'd try to get something a little better, but for a gaming room like in your case that's different and understandable.

Getting out of work now and have GameStop holding a PS4 Pro for me and settled on an LG 55" 4K model 55UH7700 for $799. Does anyone have any other suggestions for me before wiping my old PS4 to trade and upgrade everything? Nothing like last minute I know.

It should, but even better (though you may not have this option or the time) is if you have a spare external hard drive available you can move everything to that and be set to just plug that into the pro. You can just move the games off the hard drive and onto the Pro if you need the HD for something else. That's what I did last week since I have a data cap where I live so I couldn't upgrade until they made external hard drives an option since there was no way I could re-download everything.
