This snapshot here will tell you everything you need to know:

If the build date of your set is before December, then make sure you do a FW update on your TV to enable Game Mode w/ HDR. You should be okay lag-wise. Turn off motion interpolation, though!

Also, what TV are you coming from? For all we know, that could be a beast of beasts as far as input lag and maybe anything after that in comparison is much less responsive.

Actually. There's no game mode + HDR...I'm guessing it's just built in? cuz geek squad (when mounting) said there's basically two different types of HDRs and this TV senses what's better and uses that.

The last tv was like a 50 inch Panasonic LED which is like 3 years old so and after seeing this tv I feel like I was staring at static for 3 years haha

Do you have your screen settings set up on your system? There should be a setting for HDR and it should be on auto.

So if 1000 nits is true HDR then only like 3 TVs are capable of it based off of that chart on rtings....

Unless I'm missing something. Maybe someone can explain that to me, like I understand that like the Samsung 9000 series is the best with HDR 1000 (which makes sense when I think about it now, lol). But like, is a Sony X800D gonna be like terrible compared to a 9000? I've seen the HDR 1000 vs 4K at work and it looks good but, I dunno.

On the XMB scroll to settings>sound and screen>video output settings>turn everything to automatic.

then go to video output info. It will tell you what settings are active. Should say HDR on your TV - 2K/4K supported - HDCP 2.2

I'm no tv guru but I do have the same tv as you. Basically from what I've read on here and other places is that our tv's HDR does have a wide color gamut but the peak brightness is around 400 nits. So HDR on our tvs probably won't be as vivid but it should still look better. The guy for SDS on the graphics stream said that the lower the nits your HDR TV is then the lower you want to have the in game slider for HDR set. If you try to max it out the colors will begin to look washed out. More knowledgeable guys feel free to step in here.

Me either. I bought a pro and my 4K tv just because of this game. I'm ready for Tuesday!

You are correct I also own the 43 inch Sony X800D and while it is a great TV
for the "Price" the peak brightness is not going to be nearly as good as with some much higher end TV's. So yes while HDR should make content look better when it's enabled on the Sony X800D it will definitely not be on the same level as some much higher end TV's unfortunately. The only HDR I have viewed so far on my Sony X800D was some Netflix stuff and while I think it does look very nice. HDR on the Sony X800D in my opinion is not "mind blowing" better then viewing content without HDR but you can definitely see a noticeable improvement when HDR is being used just not mind blowing better if you know what I mean.

As of March 2017 I do not think you will find a better rated 43 inch under $700 4K HDR display. If you step up to 50 inches and beyond then you definitely can get much better HDR performance! Basically I think it comes down to this if you absolutely want a HDR display right now and do not have room for anything bigger then a 43 inch and also would like to keep the price down then the Sony X800D is your best choice currently. However if you are willing to spend more and also want a 50 inch plus size TV then there are absolutely better choices out there. I think the 43 inch Sony X800D is the perfect gaming display for a small bedroom. Which is where I am using mine.

So to sum this up if you are looking for "mind blowing" HDR results then you might want pass on the Sony X800D. You are not going to get breath taking HDR results on a display under $1000 I think no matter what TV you buy not in 2017 anyway.

Having said that I have owned my Sony X800D since August of 2016 and I am not sorry one bit that I bought it. 1080P and 4K content look wonderful with beautiful and vivid popping colors! HDR while I admit have not viewed a whole lot of HDR content yet but it does seem to add a nice "suitable" improvement over non HDR content.

I am curious though what settings you guys who already have MLB The Show 17 and the Sony X800D are are using and are you happy with the results?

No question I will fiddle with my HDR setting on The Show as well as a few knob turns on my X800D

I am sure we can all come to a consensus on where the HDR slider should end up on the game.

I am not going to play it in 4K though. I want that true 60 FPS gameplay!

That LG 4k HDR10 monitor comes out on Tuesday. Taking some willpower not to drop the grand on it. Telling myself that in a year there will probably be better and cheaper options, and that my BenQ monitor is still good enough to at least enjoy HFR mode this year

I feel that enhanced mode offers a great compromise with great visuals and great framerate. It is what I'm playing on with the same exact set as yours. Would love to hear your opinion on this when you get the game.
