Going through the dynamic contrast settings, it to me looks the best on high as it seems to have a lot more visible detail.

It is my understanding that with this setting on, it hampers animation. Is that true?

Thank you in advance for your help.

PS the game looks phenomenal on just about any settings.

Dynamic contrast off, brightness at 45. Brightness over 45 and you're going to have a washed up picture and destroying your black levels. If you're using HDR turn up your back light to max which is 20, Smart LED to high. Also, make sure you disable all ECO settings on your tv since this tends to lower the brightness depending on your lighting in the room.

      Playing on a 65" Sony Z9D.

OT but curious what made you decide to go for the Z9 over an OLED? I went with the KS8000 but if I could of done it again I would have waited for the b6 as it was almost half price on BF. Especially since it got the update for input lag.

I swear that CNET article was written before Samsung updated their firmware. I remember reading that somewhere. What color tone do you use? I use warm 2 as it "supposedly" produces the most accurate picture. I guess this will be our TV thread for the year and it's moving mighty quick.

I'm having this weird issue on my TV (Samsung KU6500 curved), whenever I'm playing my screen brightens up a tad after I select a pitch or the computer selects a pitch & I have this weird flickering around the helmet area. Any idea what this may be? HDR on/off, didn't matter. Tried high frame rate, enhanced visuals, & 4K to see if they all had the same issue & they do.

I just seem to like those settings.

I had mine professionally calibrated in HDR and SDR and I can tell you that color setting is way too high and also your brightness is too low and will be crushing blacks. If you like it that's fine, enjoy your TV how you see fit. I'm just informing you it won't be very accurate.

My setup: PS4 Pro with Samsung KS8500 (curved version of the KS8000).

The HDR implementation is..ok. You really need Dynamic Contract at least at medium for this to look ok. I keep mine at high. I know I am oversaturating things and losing some detail but I just like how it pops a little more.

4k mode is worse than I could have imagined. It shouldn't have even been included. I can't believe how bad the framerate is. I'm keeping it at the enhanced graphics option.

The worst part is the top of the outfield walls, and the outfield grass seem to 'move' whenever the camera pans. It's hard to describe. The top of the outfield walls aren't totally jagged but they have jagged spots that aren't stationary. And the patterned outfield grass seems to kind of distort and move almost like an illusion.

From my experience with HDR content on this set, I can tell you settings will vary depending on the source. I have a Sony UHD player and a PS4 pro. For each game and movie, settings will vary. Some look better with DC on medium. Some on high or not at all. It's really a subjective thing. In other words, one isn't for all. Personally, I prefer DC on, the level depends on the source. I also have brightness at 45, backlight and contrast at 100, color space on auto for HDR. If picture is too bright, you can try lowering gamma a little.

I agree with you. I always keep DC on medium or high for HDR games. I know it's maybe not as realistic and maybe not what the programmers intended, but it just looks better and more impressive to me. Horizon: Zero Dawn with DC on high looks unbelievable.

That was from Rtings. I always use warm2. It's what all pro tv calibrators use and closes to 6500k which is the industry standard.

You're being nice about it lol. His settings are way off and would look terrible to me lol. He's definitely crushing blacks with his brightness that low and the color is extremely high. I'm sure it's way too saturated as well.

For you though, I would make sure your color spaces are matching for TV and console. It shouldn't be dark with 60 brightness.
So I have my brightness at 60, maybe I like it bright I guess lol. Also the dynamic contrast seems to blow everything out to max in terms of looks, but I will give medium a shot. I guess dark is relative to what the other look like. what color space do you have set? I went with the recommended from ratings I think for gaming.

After the reset I was able to adjust it to Auto, that mixed with setting Color to Native as made a world of difference. Looks great now, at least on the first game I've had in daytime/Partly Cloudy.

I'll update as I tweak settings.
What do you have your HDR intensity set at? I'm not playing right now so I don't even remember what my HDMI black level is set at, but I do think I remember it being grayed out. How exactly did you enable it? Reset all the picture settings?

Did what you said and it looks about 10 times better than before, but for some reason I feel like having HDR off looks better. Colors seem to pop more. Maybe it's just me. I can see how using HDR with those settings would be preferable though.

Actually, now that I went back and tried it again I think I'm gonna use HDR. I'm doing batting practice so I haven't seen it in a night game. But will try that later. It does look really good.
