Popped in the game for about twenty minutes. I had a grading deadline tonight so I couldn't play for long. Started on Remote Play, and in HRD mode.

No Retro cam for HRD. Don't know if it would matter because it doesn't pull up for home runs anyway. The announcer time to time will call out things like jumbotron, second deck, Waveland Ave., etc. Doesn't seem to be any stadium tags at SunTrust Park, at least not for the announcer. Back spin is going to definitely give people new reason to try and get the farthest home run this year, though! My farthest so far is 533 feet. I am aiming for that Coke bottle and glove at AT&T, you'll see!

Tried Retro Mode for a moment. Definitely nifty, and I want to play it some more. Though because Retro cam exists in other modes, it's not exactly a completely different thing than fast play with one button and moving players. Still very fun though. Good couch play stuff. Please leave it in next year and add it for online play, franchise play, and quick counts!

Then I popped in an exhibition game on the PS4 itself to really see the framerate. Much improved from '16, but I can't be calling it 60 FPS unless I'm fielding the ball, at least that I can tell. I'd like to try the PS4 Pro and really distinguish the two, because what I saw on streams with my PC was more like true 60 FPS. That's not a knock on this game's framerate, it's rock-solid this year! I'm really glad what they've been able to do with it.

Everything is so much more responsive, including/especially swings. I feel really early on everything, which is just awesome. Very excited to get my hands on this more, but I gotta find the right time for it!

      Nice job this year, SDS!

I hope SDS will nerf HR's. Especially power, which is really out of the world. Too many, too far. And often from players with low power. Power Swing seems to be useless at the moment while in real baseball you often see players searching for a bomb with a power swing. In terms of balance, the game still works but you can see a trend: pitches are slower and PCI is so much bigger than MLB 16 that Contact stats are less relevant. At All Star level, too many players get a PCI that cover nearly the whole strikezone. The difference between power hitters and contatc hitters is less prominent. Which is a problem. I don't know if they do that on purpose ( probably for DD players which are a big part of the newcomers ) or if they can tweak it a little bit.

Played one game and had an absolute blast. The new ball physics seemed pretty apparent to me and feel great. Hit variety is gonna be amazing.

Hit two absolute rocket line drive homers with Nelson Cruz. One had only 3.75 seconds of hang time and was gone before I could even react. It felt so...real.

Got a couple games in last night and the ball physics are just amazing. Worth the purchase price just for the updated ball physics. Game changer.

              Suntrust Park looks good too.

Man, I honestly feel like I'm playing a different game than everyone else. I mean, I love it like always, but I'm just not seeing these drastic changes that everyone else is.

Sure, the fielders don't hesitate on their throws all the time anymore, but they still do it. The frame rate is improved a little but can still chop like crazy at times.

I don't see much in terms of ball physics or hit variety, but that could just be me.

Retro mode is cool, but I can't see myself spending a whole lotta time with it unless I'm playing with someone.

The RTTS documentary style presentation is very cool, IMO, and I've been enjoying the heck out of that mode.

Crucial moments in Franchise is awful, IMO. Having to load into and out of every moment seems as long as simply playing a game with quick counts.

All that being said, I like the game a bunch and played it practically all night. It's as good as it's ever been, IMO.

Hit my first homerun in Play Now with Mitch Moreland. It was a long fly to left center, I didn't know it was gone until I watched it travel over the wall.
The camera transition from batting to fielding was so smooth and seamless, it left me with a huge smile on my face. Great stuff.

Game is terrific. Played just a handful of games but the feel of it is outstanding. Hit variety is phenomenal.

RTTS's documentary style is also really cool. I didnt play last year's version of the Show (16) .. but I really like the improvements in that mode.

Played the opening game in my fantasy draft franchise last night and unfortunately drew Mad Bum. Was able to stay patient but stranded too many runners. Both sides had a few hits that just weren't in any previous iteration of the show though, and it was a beautiful sight to behold!

My favorite thing I encountered last night though was critical situations. I'm a play 1, sim 5 guy and during my first sim of 5 I got two critical situations. On the first, I was tied 1-1 in the bottom of the 9th with runners on 1st and 2nd and no outs. I attempted to bunt the runners over, and the CPU third basemen botched trying to scoop barehanded, the ball rolled into the outfield, and I won on that. Lol!

The second was the next game and Liriano had a no-hitter through 6. I found it really cool that it put my in the game as Liriano, as if it was a road to the show game. Found it less cool that I gave a hit to the first batter

Can't wait to get home from work tonight!

Big fan of manage only mode - hoping there are injuries in the mode however, played through a couple months with it and haven't seen one yet. This was an issue in the old Sportscast Simulator back in the day.

I have played MLB The Show every year since 2012 and the 2017 game is the most dynamic/organic sports game I have played to date. In my game last night I got to experience hits where the ball trajectory took new paths I had never seen before thanks to the new round bat hitting a round ball physics. It wasn't just the curving balls towards being foul balls. It was also new line drives, new bloopers over the infield. Plus I was impressed with the new fielding AI. It's not perfect, but it is a heck of a nice improvement.

I'll start by saying I love the game, as I loved last years, however:

I had two plays where my shortstop (Bogaerts) sat back and threw the ball to 1st and was late (this was promised to be fixed). I had a ball hit right to my 1B who went to turn the double play and couldn't (is a DP 100% of the time in real life).

My biggest complaint is the ratings with my Red Sox. How someone like Benitendi (picked to win ROY and compete for batting title) is rated 2 points lower than CARL CRAWFORD is mind boggling. How Mookie Betts hits 30 homers and has his power in the low 70s is strange. Finally, how Porcello won the Cy Young and isn't even in the top 15-20 for pitchers is crazy. Finally how Steven Wright was an AL All Star last year and is rated in the mid 70s is also confusing. Among many, many, many others.

They changed the overall rating system. That isnt the most important thing to look at. Look at their individual statistics.

Generally impresssed by the game as a whole. Allot of Bugs that need to be patched. The inabiity to get on line is inexcusable.

                                Things I noticed

                                1. Pitcher stats on overlays are totally screwed up. I played 1 spring training game with Rangers aagainst Royals and Jason hammel's ovrlay when he cam in said he was 15-0 last season. Now I might be old and forgetful but Im'm pretty sure Hammel wasn't 15-0 last season. Batters stats against pitchers is screwed up. Some veterans batting against veteran pitchers have only 1 at bat. I dare to say no.

                                2. Commentary in my opinion is terrible. No excitment in Harold Reynols or Dan Plesac.

                                3. When you make contact with a ball t is like the bat stops in mid swing before making contact almost like slow motion.

                                4. All this I noticed afterjust 1 spring training game. Graphics are Ok. I didn't really see a whole lot of difference playing on standard version PS4 then last year.

                                5. As of know 16 is just more fluid and less buggy. Hopefully they can fix the stuff especially with the servers. Just not to impressed with the overall game so far. Allot of hype for really nothing. Just my impression
