I have encountered the suicide squeeze glitch several times. I thought this was gonna be resolved this year. I pitch out and click X to apply the tag at home plate and the catcher doesn't even move and stays there standing up. It's been 6 times already and it ruins the game completely.

Umps are great. They get way above 90% of balls and strikes correct. I believe its even higher than that. Calls on the bases are almost always correct.

People do not understand how good big league umpires are. This kind of thinking kills me. I love how anyone thinks they can do better than these guys.

Exactly. They're not "awful". They're above average calling a game where their focus is divided between a ball sailing in at 70mph, a guy running at full speed, and the fraction of an inch between their two feet as they converge on the same bag, oh, and he still has to watch/listen for the baseball hitting the glove.

They do that without the aid of slow motion or instant replay.

That said, this game has been great for me so far. I played about 6 games before getting the new opening day rosters from here, and starting my new franchise.

Now if only I could learn how to make a better version of myself in game...

I was playing Cubs and Brewers, and we're in Wrigley going into the 12th. The game has been 1 to 1 since the 5th, when the Cubs tied up my home run shot I knocked out in the 1st...and it was 2am, but all I could think was "Just stay alive for one more inning!"

Sadly, their pinch hitter knocked a solo shot into center field, but it was still a great game.

I was playing the Cubs earlier in franchise and Joe Maddon batted his pitcher 8th. Not sure I've seen that before in The Show but I had been playing 14 until the last few months of 16 so maybe that's been in for a while. Either way, cool to see.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Impressions

Just had a game that brought together many of my pet peeves about the game.

                1. Shortstops that are able to throw out everyone with jump throws from deep in the hole between short and third. Okay, I will accept Aybar throwing out the slow running catcher but there was no way that he should have thrown out Billy Burns with his 97 speed on a lollipop jump throw. This is especially frustrating when my shortstop cant even throw out Travis Jankowski in time on a hard hit groundball right at him.

                2. Speaking of Travis Jankowski since when did he become a fielder capable of multiple lay out diving catches in a single game. There are way to many diving outfielders this year. I like that sometimes they miss but I still think they dive too often.

                3. Jhoulys Chacin - A 69 pitcher painting the corners like Clayton Kershaw

                4. Balls dropping in the outfield because I can't initially determine who the game decided that I should be controlling, causing me to break the wrong way with the controlled fielder before realizing it and then watching the ball drop as I try to recover.

None of these are deal breakers on their own but they are especially annoying when all happen in one game and they go towards losing that close game, on a suicide squeeze no less. Oh the guy who scored on the squeeze was the player who got a triple because I could not tell from the fielding camera which outfielder I was controlling.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Impressions

Ugh! Came across an infuriating "bug" in my RTTS career. I am a starting pitcher and it is my first year so I am in the Yankees' AA team. All is going well and then I get traded to the Reds. I am ok with this since I was being used out of the bullpen and this will give me a chance to start. I am in high spirits.

In my first game with my new team I immediately notice something isn't right. My catcher cannot catch anything! He is allowing pass ball after pass ball. It is comical. I figure something is bugged but I manage to finish the game.

After the game when I look at my team's roster I notice that the regular catcher is injured, and the team has no back-up catcher, so they are subbing position players in there! And since it is the AA team, there is so single-A club to call a catcher up and the game won't bring one down from AAA. Ugh!

The normal catcher is going to out for another month at least. I do have a back-up save from before I got traded but it is old and I will lose a lot of progress. So I may be stuck with an incompetent catcher for the next 6 starts who will have about 25 pass balls a game. No lie, I have already had a few batters reach 1st on a strike out and end up advancing each base on pass balls until they score on yet another pass ball! WTF?

Man, now that they patched in my Tigers' road unis names, damn, this game is a nine. Maybe even 9.5. Just freaking fantastic. Loving every minute.

After the patch update, the opponents ERA is not registering. All of the pitchers have an in game 0.00 ERA even if they give up multiple runs.

                        I'm not seeing this.

Weird, the ERA only updates at the end of the game but in game it's still 0.0, probably a small glitch but I've noticed it in two consecutive games.

Edit: also I just noticed that the commentary is off.

God the homeruns in this game online are just too much. I just played a game Astros vs Twins and between to the two teams there were 9 homeruns. It's not even baseball just a boring homerun derby.

I have been testing some slider sets and this particular one was working great for me. I think the newest patch messed up the sliders because I'm back to hitting unrealistic home runs.

My impressions are: meh. It's definitely a more finely-tuned game than 16 but I just can't recommend this to anybody that already has 16. Not enough has changed (i.e. Franchise mode basically untouched, drafting still heavily flawed, no new modes) for me to tell somebody they need to shell out $60 that already has 16, I just can't do it. Also, in 16 you don't have to worry about pitchers getting the hook too early and every player suddenly deciding to juice (too many HR's). I don't mess around with DD so if you're a person that loves that, go for 17. If you're a franchise/RTTS guy, I can't recommend right now.
