For the record I enjoy the game.. just a handful of annoying things that should have never been missed during testing.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Impressions
I feel like high batting averages are valued too high for award winners but aren't valued high enough for player evaluations.
I'm seeing early 30's(not old) players in free agency or left off major league rosters after hitting for a high average the previous year.
Maybe the CPU is valuing expendable players too much on their 40-man roster, and won't cut them in favor of these good veteran players.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Impressions
The consensus seems to be the patches actually made the gameplay worse, due to overreacting to Online Play cheesers and complaints. This isn't the first sports game franchise we've seen this happen with, so it is frustrating.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Impressions
This is the best console baseball game I have ever played. And it is not even close.
Every year, every version has some annoying warts that we talk about for a year till the next version comes out.
And I can say that about every single solitary sports game ever made. Even the folklore legendary ones that can’t even hold up anymore to newer versions.
This game had a rough launch....no denying that. But the patches cleared almost all the issues and the game is playing pretty awesome for me.
The reason they had so many patches? They don’t need to go through the Sony red tape like third party developers have too.
So they can fix things as they crop up.
If they had to go through that approval process they would have had a much slower turnaround and released maybe 2-3 major patches.
How many patches did Madden release this past cycle? NBA 2K???
Come on folks......weak arguments just weak. This is the reality of sports gaming this generation and has been since the move to PS3/360
I for one am glad they are able to fix things. In the past...you were stuck.
If it annoys you so much......stop buying the games.
This year they really packed a ton of improvements and big jumps in ball physics and humanity AI to name a few major improvements (and man they are amazing improvements indeed).
I knew there would be some kinks and growing pains but it was well worth it. I am blown away every day playing this game.
Sorry some are not.......too bad for you I guess.
Patch argument is weak sauce. Now Playing on PS5:
CFB 26 Hurricanes/Fresno State Year 2
MLB The Show 25 - 2025 Yankees Year 1
MLB The Show 25 1985 Yankees Year 1

Re: MLB The Show 17 Impressions
I wasn't happy with the game the first two weeks of launch but after them tweaking the ball physics and improving other little things I am liking it again. There are some annoyances in there but overall the game is just really fun to play.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Impressions
well I took a week off to kind of rest from the game to see if that would help, it didn't. I can safely say I will not be buying this game ever again. It has now gone the way of Madden for me. The hitting mechanics is way off. Classic pitching is pathetic. The game is no fun to play at all. Last year I had fun and played it all the way up to release of this years. Mad I didn't just keep last years, it was way more fun, jmoComment

For me it's almost the same feeling I get every year. When the game first comes out I love it for maybe the first 2 weeks or so then I realize really fast that there are so many things wrong with this game and it makes me sad thinking what could have been.
The CPU AI decision making for Pitching, Defense and even Offense is terrible and has been terrible for a long time! Also this game has very bad bugs one example is sometimes you hit a home run that goes over or inside the foul pole only to be called a foul ball and robbing me of a home Run. And the CPU does not even call for a replay a lot of times. And then of course there is the waiting for your favorite Stadium to get the updates it has been needing for the last 10 years!
MLB The Show 17 is a great baseball game but every year it feels like Sony is a half glass full if that makes any sense lol.
I know the game will never be perfect but I just wish the developers would start listing a little more to the die hard fans and fix and add the more important things we want in the game. I mean for crying out loud it was said here the developers don't even read our Wish List threads!WHY NOT?????

The reputation of this game is not helped by all these patches. Is it a good thing they do patch the game, of course, but it's June and they are still trying to fix stuff.
How about getting into game play basics this cycle? 100% attention to this.Last edited by KnightTemplar; 06-12-2017, 09:52 AM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Impressions
Since my thread was closed I am forced to post this here.. On a very inactive thread. Seems logical right? Lmao
Topic: Playing at Progressive field in Cleveland..
The drummer thats in the game (not sounds of the show additions) plays NON STOP when I am pitching.
OMG it is annoying... the drummer doesn't even do that when the Indians are on defense. It literally non stop......................Comment
