Re: MLB The Show 17 Impressions

Series needs a new engine and help in developers department. The current system in place the developers just can't get a handle on it. The freezing issues from year to year is basically a feature in the series. Through two generations of ps3 and ps4 there has yet to be a succesful launch in this series without these problems. Have a team that works on other areas of the game like online franchise.

The addition of harold reynolds has been put to waste because of the individual recording style. Stop forcing matt v to be on unless they record together as a team. I have to have commentary turned off. The ricochete hits off the pitcher should just be removed untill they can get a handle on how to tone them down.

This series use to be ahead of its time but its lacking behind now with reoccuring issues, and counter productive menu designs. Simple toggle system to jump to whatever position your trying to reach, a system to organize things according to type of roster cards, s search feature for what logo you are looking for and search by players name would make the game a less of a chore.

I didn't search the thread for this but I just had my third home run in a row at Citi Field called foul even though it was fair by 20 feet or so. There have been some brutal boundary issues this year and it's pretty disappointing to have it happen in a 2017 video game

I experienced that bug once while playing a event online game. I hit. a 2 run homer to right field, my player rounded first and then it abruptly went back to batters box and it didn't count. Me and my opponent were shocked.

I don't even play online at all. Matt V even said it was a foul ball but it wasn't even down the line. I should've taken video of it.

I only have 2 complaints in one I want fixed for next year. Other then that, this game is great this year despite what many others complain about.

Wild pitches. Has to be fixed. There are more wild pitches in 1 month then they have in an entire season. Ball goes in the dirt, thats fine. That happens, thats great. It works as intended. However, a ball in the dirt that the runner takes off and can make it to the next base, DOESNT happen when the ball doesnt even leave the batters box area, to which goes from a ball in the dirt, to a wild pitch. That needs to be fixed. Generally the catcher knows if the pitch is going to be in the low/dirt and adjusts to make sure it doesnt get away.

              Some problems/dislikes i have with the presentation/broadcast.

I am mainly a RTTS player, and unless im blind or seomthing, laser beams from outfielders who out people(Think Ichiro iconic throw to third) are never ever replayed, also about 25% of the times the commentators treat it as a simple out. Anyone else notice this?

Also apart from hitting your First HR etc, why do you never see your guy going into the dugout high-fiving etc after a good hit? Really would want this.

Would be nice to have this imo.

This is a very unpolished game of "The Show" this year. Shame.

                    MLB The Show 17 Impressions

Needs 2 years development time. Just my opinion though . I would pay 10 dollars to get significant patches and goodies to keep me occupied for 2 years as long as we get roster updates. More dev time is the key. Publisher to blame for the glitches not the devs. Street dates are what they care about unfortunately.

I still love the game though . I'm an offline kind of guy. But I feel for the online community

That video is hilarious. It sums up the game so well this year. Don't get me wrong, I am still having fun, but this year's game feels like it has more issues than normal. I actually just quit a game to replay in franchise mode for the first time in a sports game in forever for me. I was probably in middle school last time I got that upset with a sports game.

I went up 7-1 in the 4th inning against the Jays, then Dickey got hurt, Krol comes in and gives up a 2 run HR and is hurt, I bring in a reliever and it gets to 7-4. 2 outs in the 7th, Inciarte misses a flyball and 2 runs score and a runner is on 2nd and 3rd. The very next pitch a ground ball is hit to Swanson. He bobbles it, fine, I'll get the next guy and keep it tied. Nope, Swanson walks over to the ball so slowly(auto fielding) and casually picks up and throws it so weak to home that the runner on 2nd scored on a ball that never left the infield grass.

Now I am down 7-8 in the 8th. I end up getting to doubles to tie it and head to the 9th tied after I get out of a bases loaded jam in the bottom half of the inning. Let me add that the CPU came up to bat with 7 straight 3 ball counts in Quick Counts over the 7th and 8th innings. So in the top of the 9th I get 3 fastballs down the middle, good timing and Inciarte, Phillips, and Freeman all popout. I knew where this was headed, a walk off HR was coming. I was right, the Jays player who I don't even remember with 40's contact and 30's power comes up and drills a no doubter to end the game. I just turned it off without even backing out. I'll replay the game another time. I've never played anything that felt so scripted before with this series.

                          That was hilariously accurate.

This year's game is infuriatingly unfun. It's a mess that needs work in a lot of areas.

Umpires call most borderline strike balls and I feel like they all have the same strike zone.

I feel like the favour the pitcher

WILD PITCH WILD PITCH WILD PITCH GGRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!! Absolute kills this game!!!!!!! Im so frustrated I want to just SCREAM and slam my head into the wall. Such a great game this year ruined by one damn thing. A guy getting on first and ending up on third because of wild pitches. Not even wild pitches. They are pitches in the dirt that dont even leave the plate or batters box and yet miraculously a guy not matter his speed can advance to the next base. ABSOLUTELY KILLS this game. Its not even liveable like some things are. You cant turn up consistancy because it just throws every other aspect of pitching off. I can not for the life of me find a combination pitching (control-consistancy-strike freq) that will combat this without making already strong pitching stronger. I currently have pitching at 4-5-2. This just has to be fixed next year. It just has to be. I dont care if you put out the exact same game next year with just this fixed.

The more I play this game the more I feel like it's the worst this generation. This game used to feel organic, now franchise mode just feels scripted constantly. I can go play the same matchup in quick play over and over and get a beautiful, different game each time. I go into franchise mode and you can't make up the kind of stuff I am seeing.

I'm not one that usually says anything about comeback AI or anything of the sorts. I usually laughed at those topics, but it's gotten to a point in my franchise right now where progress has just stalled because everything about this game feels scripted with an end result already predetermined and out of my control. It's just irritating seeing some of the crap that is going on. I just quit another game before finishing it for the 2nd or 3rd time this past week when I hadn't done that in a sports game in God knows how long.

I walked two guys on pitches that were 100% in the strikezone which is cool here and there when the umps personality things kicks in, but when these pitches have been strikes every single time I've taken one to that point in the game, it just feels scripted. Then the next batter comes up, I get him to chase an 0-2 fastball that is shoulder height and my reward is watching it sail over the wall for a grand slam. A ball at his shoulders. Grand slam. I'm cool with getting hit on balls out of the zone when it's a realistic manner. That wasn't realistic. It just felt as scripted as the two walks to load the bases before.

                                The two walks location.
