Re: MLB The Show 17 Q&A

I'm playing RTTS SS the first time and I have a question for all you experienced. When it says the pitch is going to be a fastball or offspeed, should I be doing something with this info? Wasn't sure if this was a clue to move in/out or closer to 2B/3B. Thanks!

In Franchise mode, can you still not edit the attributes of the coaching staff?

Kind of a weird question, but to sliders automatically carry over from 16?

I ask because the first thing I did was play an exhibition game right away. Only changed a few settings but I didn't open up the sliders. I was VERY happy with the gameplay, and followed that up with some batting practice. I again was very satisfied, and decided to load up my carry over save.

I quick managed my two minor league games, but didn't play my major league game due to how late it is. That's when I opened up my sliders and saw that they were as they were in 16.

I exited out of franchise and opened my sliders again to see if they were still changed and sure enough they were. If they were set that way during my exhibition game then I want to keep them as is. If they changed when I loaded up my franchise I want to do a flat reset and work from there.

I can always do another exhibition game to check but I will not play a single franchise game until my sliders are set and an answer to this question would save me a ton of time. Thanks in advance.

1, Are cutscenes a lot smoother this year? In the past they where a lot less smooth then gameplay.

          2. Does CPU do a better job with pitching chances? This was my biggest issue in the past. In the past to often relief pitchers would pitch like 2-3 innings and you wouldn't see things like a pitcher coming in to just face a left. Do they do that now?

Yes, your sliders that were current during your last save will remain when you carryover your franchise/RTTS save. I don't know if they are the same in other modes, but they will be the same as 16 in your franchise

Yes its in. No stride slider or early late bad stride swing info analysis like in mlb 14.

wow stride difficulty (slider) meant the world to me, when I discovered how it worked.

Is there somewhere I can read up on the mechanics of stealing bases? I have just been flat out atrocious at it so far and the problem is that no matter what I do, hold the steal button or tap it, my guy does not start running until the ball is going across the plate, negating any sort of advantage i would get on stealing on a good pitch.

What is the difference between holding the steal button and tapping it?

Does timing matter? I either release it or tap it when the pitcher is going throw his delivery.

Does adjusting the lead off really make a difference. I never do it because usually if I just take the one step the cpu is going to try and pick me off.

In my opinion, without question it is smoother.

Once you play '17, there is no reason to ever think of '16 again.

It was to my understanding - and maybe this is inaccurate, but I figured the total of your Budget "Bank" would carry through the offseason into the new season.

I started a franchise and traded off some high salaried players. I simmed through the year and built up the bank quite a bit to about $40 million. I then simmed through the offseason, started the new season and my bank was at 5 million. I have all the General Manager tasks set to manual so it's not like the CPU signed a bunch of people for me. Is this how the budget/bank was intended to work? Maybe the budget just gets readjusted at the start of the season?

In RTTS can you force a position change at any point? I want to change from catcher to third base

wouldn't mind seeing it in replays, haven't had it happen yet so not sure how i feel about it in gameplay.

Anybody playing a imported franchise, or a new franchise, seen the batter/pitcher match up stats mentioned or shown. Have played 4 games in my 16 franchise and not seen them once.

Even in play now games it seems random if you will get them, one game they were mentioned for nearly every second batter then other games i don't get any at all.

I have a bronze badge in the bottom left corner on the menus.

How do I upgrade to silver, gold, etc?
Is it by just playing games?
Also, what does the number in the badge mean? How high does it go?
                              Thank you

Yep just keep playing. Edit: also can get xp from doing missions ect.

Not 100% sure but i think when you get to lvl 50 you go to silver then gold and diamond.
