I actually thought about him, but he's having a pretty good season so far (0-2, 19.1 IP, 19 K, 9 BB, 2.33 ERA, 1.50 WHIP) and I didn't want to take someone that looks to be a part of their future unless it was fair.

Trade deadline has come and gone. I did not make a move. I just couldn't part with any of my players. I'll have to address my needs in the offseason.

So I'm looking at Tillman and Jones from the Orioles for Leake and Grichuk.
I could have have acquired SonnyGray and Kris Davis... but the A's also wanted Carson Kelly. Thought that was too much

It also just doesn't make sense. Can you show one time in recent history where two MLB regulars were traded for 2 other MLB regulars? MLB players are generally traded for prospects not guys you want off your team

For what it's worth, I think that was the right call. I would never tell another man how to run his franchise, but Baez is a keeper. I'd rather see you trade a Zobrist or a Lester or a Russell to get some young controllable pitching.

Would Vlad Jr., Reid-Foley, Resse McGuire and JP Howell be enough for Daniel Murphy and Oliver Perez?

Or Solarte, Capps for Bichette, McGuire, Howell?

Well the beauty is they are dead last 2 weeks into July. 32-53. 16 games back of the division and 17 of the wild card. Murphy is great but surely they would be sellers at the deadline.

I'm also considering Solarte from SD

I think it would take an overpay, but the Vlad Jr, SRF, McGuire and Howell package should get them going. If you decide to do that I think you should have the Nats trade away Bryce Harper for an absolute haul. If they are in last and rebuilding they would be best off getting a ransom for Harper instead of letting him walk in FA

Sorry I didn't see your previous post.

I guess it depends on how those guys are performing in your league? Does Reid-Foley look like a star? All 4 might get it done but I don't know those guys that well so can't say with confidence what I think.

Then you have to decide if the Nats are going to be competitive in 2018 as Murphy is under contract and he is a huge part of their lineup. Personally I'm surprised that they are so bad in your franchise... they are one of the best teams in the game! Hard to believe they'd give up on 2018 with the talent they have.

I need to make this clear, when I talk about Vlad Jr I view him in a light similar to Yoan Moncada. It wouldn't shock me one bit if he enters 2018 as THE #1 prospect in baseball. He's 18 in A ball with a 157 wRC+. He's going to be in the bigs before he can drink

Unfortunately, I don't have 30-team control so I wouldn't be able to deal Harper away :/. If you guys think they would just write off 2017 as a fluke and hope for better fortunes in 2018 I won't take Murphy from them. I think he pushes me over the top and makes me the favourite for a title.

I could just save the farm and deal Bichette, McGuire, Howell for Solarte, Capps. Does that deal work?
