Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

Looking to acquire another starter for injury insurance and to maybe run a 6 man rotation like the Jays did last year with Liriano. I am in first in the AL East and 1 day until the trade deadline. Here are a few of my targets:

    1) Edinson Volquez - Miami 10 games back of the wild card. 3-9, 4.83/1.51, 103K/57BB, 0.9 WAR in 117.1 IP. 2 years/22 M left.

    2) Gio Gonzalez - Washington is 12.5 back of a wild card. 4-9, 3.39/1.34, 112K/35BB, 3.3 WAR in 119.1 IP. 1yr 12 mil left

    3) Matt Garza - Milwaukee 8.5 out of a wild card. 8-8, 3.65/1.32, 83K/36BB, 0.6 WAR in 118.1 IP. 1 year 12.6 left.

    4) Patrick Corbin - DBacks 6.5 back of a wild card. 4-8, 3.31/1.25, 81K/28BB, 1.3 WAR, 89.3 IP. 1 year 3.9 left.

    5) Trevor Cahill - Padres out, 4-10, 4.49/1.50, 113K/51BB, 2.1 WAR, 106.1 IP. 1 year 1.7 left.

What would be the going price for these guys? I am also open to suggestions. Would take guys with 2 years left if makes sense as I have some openings next year. Could also look at rentals. 75-80 overall who can be trusted in the rotation.

    Thanks!

What would the Dodgers have to give for Ian Kinsler?

What about JD Martinez to the Blue Jays? Ohlman(lotto ticket) + Travis (if they trade Kinsler) + one of Alford/Smith Jr./Gurriel Jr?

If you're not concerned with realism then you don't need any more advice. Any number of the trades in this thread can be used as a base for any young #2-3 type that you might want. Just find one and make a deal.

It doesn't sound likely that you're going to play long enough for teams like the White Sox to be competitive anyway, so it really doesn't matter how fair the deal is. Let the CPU logic control the other team and work a deal.

What would it take to get Brandon Belt to the Rays?

Outside of the fact that it isn't realistic at all, Belt is a 4 win player on a super affordable deal. Lets assume he averages 3.5 WAR going forward. He's controlled through 2021. So that is 15.5 WAR x $10 million= 155 - $71 = $85 million in surplus.

You're gonna have to give up something like Adames + Snell/Honeywell/De Leon. That package would have about $82 million in surplus value which is just under what we need. So add in a lotto ticket and you have

            Adames + Snell/Honeywell/De Leon + Jacob Faria

Thanks! What about Glover, Soto, and Ward for Britton?

Also, how does David Robertson to the Rangers for RJ Alvarez and Jose Almonte look?
Gamecock and I had a discussion about Britton about 5-8 pages back but the final decision was package built around a prospect who ranked in 25-35 range in the top 100 plus a guy who ranked around 75ish and a lotto ticket. I traded him to the Nats for SP Eric Fedde, OF Juan Soto and I forgot who i tossed in there but the player was a high C potential. I also looked at the Astros with Tucker or Paulino as the headliner.

Could I potentially do Kinsler & JD Martinez to the Jays for package at least including Devon Travis?

Why would the Jays trade a young controllable second basemen for two players who are free agents at the end of the year? Even if the Jays are running away with the division they wouldn't trade their starting second basemen. Could they trade for JD Martinez sure but Travis wouldn't be involved.

Meh, I would trade Travis for those 2 guys if the Jays were making a run at the title.

In my franchise they lead the AL East (60-45) and I figured the move would help them get even with the Indians and Astros, who picked up Quintana.

My thinking was then Toronto would have Kinsler and JD Martinez for Travis/prospects, and then Detroit gets their 2B of the future, and Toronto gets two rentals, who they could actually end up re-signing. If they don't there are other options, in FA and in-house (more so OFers, not really 2B).

So, let's make a deal: Who would you add to Devon Travis to get Kinsler and Martinez?

I originally was gonna trade JD Martinez to Toronto for two B-ish prospects (he's having a good year). Then I wanted to add Travis and remove one of the prospects I had in mind, then I realized TOR would need a 2B for this playoff run. I already was going to trade Kinsler (to the Dodgers) but it clicked in my head they could trade Travis + ______ + _______ for JDMartinez + Kinsler

Mmm What prospects are the tigers needing? You could take a high B and another low B / High C. I'm not good with values so might need others to chime in.

Wouldn't matter anyway the trading is still broken without 30 team control. You can't make any deals where salary isn't a full match despite having full trades. It's infuriating.

Yankees Aaron Judge straight up for Red Sox Andrew Benintendi. Realistic?
3 months ago, I'd said no, deal not favorable to Boston. But now that Judge has exceeded early expectations, is it a go, or has Judge's value swung so far that the deal would be unfavorable to New York?
