Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

Sitting at the all star break in my Braves franchise, trying to make a run at the wild card but my bullpen has been absolutely atrocious outside of Viz.

I was looking at Kelvin Herrera to bolster my pen.

    He's sporting a 3.75 ERA, 24 IP 12.38 K/9 4.50 BB/9 1.13 HR/9 with a 3.42 FIP

What would it take to get him?

Also for 30 team control purposes, would it be remotely realistic for the Marlins to deal Ramos to the Nats?

The two extra years of team control more than make up for the difference in their talents. Both are aces. And yeah it would be hard. Braves have the prospects to do it, Brewers could. Dodgers could. Houston would probably have to be open to moving Bregman. Yankees could but again you're right about the interdivision issue. Cubs could if they included a young MLB guy like Schwarber but yeah he's really valuable

Interesting, cheers. Which do you think are the most plausible? For me the Dodgers have a ton of pitching already and the Braves are still possibly a year or two away from trying to compete properly, probably waiting for Harper to leave and the Nats to end their competitive cycle.

Which leaves the Cubs, Astro's and Yankees, with Yankees being the best fit but least likely due to the division.

I don't think he gets dealt this season. He's still super valuable in the offseason and the Rays have other arms they could deal. I like Colorado to be a player for an arm this July, but I doubt they would want to pay what it would take for Archer since he is high on slider % and balls don't break as well in the altitude

I agree that Archer stays on the Rays this July. But if he were to be traded, I was thinking Schwarber, Cease, Candeleiro could do the trick. Of course that was before Schwarber got himself sent to AAA. I'm guessing he's hitting in your franchise?

Problem is that his value is so high that it makes deals look lopsided. Sending a package like that for one pitcher is risking a lot. Pitchers make me nervous.

Good thing the Rays are contenders in my franchise so I can just leave Archer in Tampa.

I already dealt them Cobb and Odorizzi for Tapia and Pint. Not sure who got the better of that tbh but we're in full sell mode and the Rockies are hanging in there despite a hideous starters ERA so I figured it made some sense. (although not convinced Odorizzi would be ideally suited to playing at Coors with his homerun issues)

Still their 2nd best CF prospect and one of their better but further away starting pitching prospects for a new top two men in their rotation seemed fairly reasonable, one only a rental one with a couple of years

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

Hey guys, so this is my first year playing the show AND watching baseball regularly (just here and there before) I've learned an immense amount, but I'm still far from being filled with knowledge lol.

My first time diving into franchise as the Angels, and I'm wondering who are your go-to-trade-for guys when you start a franchise? Guys that overperform, guys on cheap contracts, guys who are easily obtainable etc.. realism isn't a factor here. What are some moves I can make right off the bat?

                edit:

Also, I'll take any suggestions for Angels moves in general. Like I said, first time franchise so realism isn't really too much of a factor. Just trying to get a hang of everything

                    Some options:

Grienke and Jake Lamb (take on all the $ and it lessens what you send)

Quintana and Frazier (Getting both might make Torres a required piece)

Scherzer or Strasburg and Rendon (Nats have to be way out and you've got to give Torres and one of Judge/Sanchez and probably more, this would be super expensive)

Miguel Sano and Ervin Santana (Torres + lots, but most of this value is based on Sano)

Josh Harrison and Gerrit Cole (Torres plus)

Cueto and Nunez (Clint Frazier heads this one up)

Kyle Seager and James Paxton (Torres plus a good bit more.)

Lots of these options aren't realistic though

Sorry I did not explain very well but I dont really need both from the same team. I was more thinking it would prob be from separate teams and I dont mind trading torres I want to go for it all now and sell the farm for two top tier players. I normally simulate to present day so maybe here in a few minutes I can tell you who is in sell mode as well

The Teams out of contention are: TOR, BAL,MIN,KC,OAK,WAS, NYM,CIN,SD,SF
The Teams on the Bubble: CHS, TB, LAA, MIA,PHI, PIT
Is there an ACE and a stud 3rd baseman I could go get for literally any of my prospects? Id love Machado but I am not sure of the Cost being inter division. (Same with Archer)
I like the Scherzer or Strasburg idea too but what is the cost for one of them.

Lamb and Ray would be a hell of a get, gotta think Torres is involved though. I bet Dozier is cheaper than Sano, can put Castro at third. Still might need Torres though if Santana is in that. Lowrie and Gray could be a good value move, not sure Torres needs to be in that unless Gray is dealing.

Scherzer is more realistic while still not being realistic. Id think a Chris Sale like deal. So Torres plus Rutherford plus Chance Adams.

However if you get him you can't get Machado unless you deal Judge or Sanchez and Clint Frazier. Trading inter-division is hard. Same goes with Josh Donaldson

Could get Dozier for Frazier and Kaprellian or Sheffield

So you think scherzer is more realistic than Strasburg? I was hoping I could get Strasburg and Machado. I know it would DEPLETE my farm but I am willing to do that. I think #1 option would be Machado and then with what I have left I would want to go after one of the WAS SP and if there is no way I could get either of those then maybe Gerit Cole?

So here's the thing. To get both you have to use at least 2 of Torres, Sanchez and Judge. I don't know if you want to do that but as awesome as the Yankees farm is they just can't get two players that level without dipping into their young MLB talent

Maybe you could get one of them with Frazier, Rutherford, Mateo, and Kaprellian but then it doesn't leave you with much to add to Torres to get the other piece
