Looking to pry Carson Kelly away from the Cards, what package, value-wise do you think it would take? (An A & B Prospects?)
He's hitting around .274 9HR at the end of July while splitting time with Yadi(who has 2 years left with the Cards btw, Yadi that is).

    Thanks guys.

Well he's also hitting .207 with 2 homers, making $5 million, plus Swihart comes with 5 years of control.

Okay, this isn't technically a trade question, but it's sort of related and I trust you guys to help me out. Background information: baseball is bad and should be outlawed.

I'm a month deep into my Yankees franchise. I took your suggestions and traded for Todd Frazier with a much more modest offer than what the White Sox wanted originally. So things are going okay, I'm two games back in the East.

        Center field is a disaster.

Jacoby Ellsbury cannot hit the ball. He just can't touch the damn thing. He's hitting .064 with no signs of recovery. Aaron Hicks is hitting .165 and falling. These two are the kings of missed swings, and I'm beginning to consider faking my own death and moving to a remote village in Norway. And it's not my fault, I swear. Judge, Castro, Sanchez and Bird are in the .300 range, and Frazier is doing pretty well in his first few games in New York. It's just these two damn idiots who can't see the ball. So here are my options:

        1) I trade for an outfielder. Who, you ask? I have no idea! Anybody who can hit .225 on a consistent basis would be a vast improvement. Ideally somebody with solid plate vision and a good contact rating, but who cares at this point? I already dealt for Frazier, so the checkbook is open. I'm willing to do this if the price is right, but 'if' is the key word there.

        2) Jorge Mateo, who from my estimation is the best in-house option. He's raking in Scranton, hitting .306 as a leadoff guy. But his ratings are quite a bit lower than Ellsbury and Hicks, and I really don't want to call up a 22 year old unless I'm 100% sure he can help the team. The other prospects (read: Clint Frazier) aren't quite at the point where I would want to call them up. That would also mean that I would have to DFA or waive Ellsbury or Hicks.

        3) Okay, maybe I'm jumping the gun here. I can cross my fingers and hope that one of the two buffoons can start hitting, but that gets less and less likely every game.

        4) Or I just develop a debilitating drug dependency and pray nightly for the sweet release of death.

I don't know how many more games I can afford to play with an automating oh-fer at the bottom of the lineup. So what do you think, guys? Am I panicking too early, or should I look for another option?

My opinion: ride it out until June 1st, Hopefully Ellsbury and Hicks are both above .200 at that point. Once you're in June, give an update!

I can't really see them moving Kelly, even with Molina around for two more years, particularly if Kelly is playing that well in July. Sounds like he'll probably continue to get more time the next couple years and then be their catcher of the future after Yadi leaves. I think that if you wanted to make a deal for him then you'd probably have to blow them away for them to realistically move Kelly, especially if he's already hitting at the MLB level. Maybe if it was for like Machado or Donaldson and STL is contending, but otherwise I'm not sure I see the motivation for them to move him.

I'm the Red Sox and I was looking to shake things up a bit. I was gonna include Blake Swihart (he my primary catcher hitting .289 at the end of July with 3HR) but by the time Yadi retires Swihart would be 28 but he's already OVR 79 so in 2 years he would be pretty good.
Im looking to acquire Carson Kelly mainly for fun reasons and I need a boost in the offense. I wouldn't mind keeping Swihart and having a platoon for now and then Kelly could play some 3B and DH but hes got a great arm and good fielding so I wouldn't want to waste that.
I guess what I'm looking for is, if I acquire Kelly, should I send a star replacement or a package of prospects?
If prospects, what level of prospects should I include?
Keep in mind Carson Kelly has A- potential (in my game at least), hitting good in limited MLB time(splitting time with Yadi) but is around an OVR 63 at 23 years old.

                Thanks fellas!

Maybe they'd do it for E-Rod, Swihart and another valuable piece. Not Devers or Groome, but who is your best prospect after those 2

I think it would largely depend on how the Cards are doing. If they're contending, I could definitely see them moving him for upper tier MLB talent

I think the next prospect would be Shea Gomez (created player from draft) he's around OVR 65 was a B potential but just bumped up to an A. He's been tearing up AA so he's now testing AAA.
The Cards are seeking a LF(even though they have Grichuk).

JD Martinez for that package? I thought he'd get way more than that with how many teams probably would be interested.

Top 5 farm hand/fringe MLB contributor, a throw in and a kid w/speed for a $5 million rental corner OF with below average defense that they didn't plan on bringing back...sounds like DET did pretty well to me.

Honestly asking (not being a jerk), what more did you expect? Maybe the return on T.Frazier might bring this deal into better perspective. I think we'll know that before the weekend.

I think this trade says a lot about the market for no defense sluggers, along with the lack of interest for similar guys during the off season. It looks like teams are shifting away from those types of players.

Martinez was the best bat on the market, I thought between the teams that would be in on him, I think he'd bring back a haul that we'd say "Damn" on. I know his defense is bad, but he's going to be a huge offensive addition.
