Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Ok I'm nearing the 2018 trade deadline in my Braves franchise. I'm looking for a way to deal Matt Kemp so I can replace him with Acuna who is raking in AAA. I'm obviously not expecting anything of note back in return, but I hate to just release Kemp because I believe he could still help an AL team as a DH. Standings are fairly similar to real life right now with the exception of the Rangers clearly being in it and the Twins clearly being out. I'd be willing to take on bad contracts to facilitate a move as long as it freed up the spot for Acuna. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Not gonna happen.
If you google "MLB bad contracts" and click the first link, Matt Kemp tops the list.
IRL you'd have to pay most of his salary and you'd still get very little back in the way of prospects. In the game, you'd have to take on an equally bad contract... from a contender... who needs a DH.
So pretty much impossible.

In reality they'd keep him. Acuna is what, 20 in your franchise? No guarantees he'll perform every day. Plus Kemp is only signed through 2018 anyway right?

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
If David Price were to be traded and had 3 years left on his big contract but was having a great year...
Where do you think he would be traded to?
And for what type of value?
(He can still be considered a clubhouse distraction lol)
Thanks!Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Pirates are now out of contention and have sold Harrison on my Braves franchise. Would Acuna,Allard,Foltenywyrz (ik its wrong), Markakis, and Ian Anderson be enough for Cole + Cutch? If not I could throw in Rio RuizComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Why blow up the Braves farm system? For a couple years of inconsistent guys who have very little post season experience? Who are both certainly gonna test FA in a couple years?

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
He's signed through 2019. I found a trade that hopefully isn't too far out there and I'm not overly concerned with what the Braves IRL would do since I'm in 2018 anyway. The Red Sox were leading the AL East but their DH was a 68 OVR. Can't remember his name, maybe a draftee from 2017? They still had Sandoval so took him and I added a 19yr old mid B prospect from them and made the trade. So, I got a prospect and saved about $4M/yr after releasing Sandoval since both were signed through 2019. And the Red Sox got a much better DH.
Yea that seems fair enough.
It's a shame we don't get the option to keep salary of traded players... would add another layer of realism to the trades.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Making some moves around the league at the All star break in my franchise. Was wondering what it would take to get Quintana on the Astros. Could I get him without giving up Martes? Sorry if this has been asked about beforeComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Kyle Tucker would be the Astros Eloy Jimenz and then David Paulino and then a B prospectComment
