If you want realism, then realize that Q is not in an Astros uniform because the price was Martes, Tucker, and then a 3rd piece who I don't remember but it was either Paulino or another similar SP. If you just want what is fair, I found that the computer's suggest trades was actually pretty fair between these two teams only looking at Q to the Astros but you should do the one that is something like Tucker+Paulino

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

I'm in late June, but this hypothetical trade would happen sometime in July obviously.

What could Jarrod Dyson get if he was having a career year? .330 AVG, 20 SB, 2.1 WAR, good defense, etc.?

Could I get a team to pay for a rental OFer having a career year?

Edit: made it to late June instead of early, also updated his stats

In 2018 no numbers in front of me (at work). Is Machado to Arizona for Anthony Banda (SP-A pot), Jorge Mateo (2B/SS-A pot) and Pavin Smith (1B-A pot) fair?
Oakland A's - Seattle Mariners - Detroit Tigers
Pittsburgh Steelers - Green Bay Packers
        Detroit Red Wings

It all depends on where the Orioles sit in the standings and if he is in a contract year replace an A with a B prospect

Arizona is battling for wildcard. Baltimore is out of it again by a ton. Like 16GB at the deadline

That's asking a whole lot for like 10 weeks of Machado

Think of what the Rangers are asking for Darvish plus Arizona gets the 10 extra days to resiign him before he opens to everyone. Generational 3B isn't something to let walk in FA

Figured id rather over pay than under pay. What would be fair value? Perhaps theres a "contract extension" negotiated lol

Personally I'd say one of Mateo or Smith and a couple B prospects. Machado is valuable but he's a rental. Look at what Cespedes or David Price got as rentals and use that as a reference

Ok. Probably go Mateo and still gives them Banda gor good measure. Machado with Goldy, JD and Souza is gunna be a leathel punch in the order

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread

I'm doing a Pittsburgh Pirates franchise. I usually quick manage 6-8 innings and then join the game (can get through games quickly and still have full control). I manually injured Marte for 80 games (steroids) and I am keeping Kang in the minors for the year for real life situations. Only trade I made was a C prospect to TB for Jumbo Diaz.

I am pleased with my lineup and bench although i might look to add another veteran (not Gosselin) bench player at 3B/OF cause i will sit Marte in postseason if i make it. Even though Marinez is 55overall I seem to pitch very well with him but if Cole doesn't turn it around by July (4.30-4.50era) or the back of my rotation falters I would like to pick up some rotation depth 3rd-5th starter and a bullpen arm. I may look to trade Watson/Cole but what can I get for them? I know this isn't the trade forum but that one is so cluttered and a bunch of stuff gets lost. I have 30 team control but only use the pirates, i let the CPU make their own trades/roster moves. I would obviously trade Cole to a contender regardless but I would like to get a starter with less than 2-3 years of service time. Dodgers offered both Maeda/Ryu and Maeda/Baez for Cole/Bastardo but i figured that wasn't very realistic but maybe Cole/Maeda+prospect. I'm willing to dump Bastardo for very little so I would have enough money to go after a Hamels type lefty starter. My rotation is all righties.

At the deadline I will make trades they make in real life that is the reason I have 30 team control or at least make real life type moves for teams in contention

I was looking at Nathan Eovaldi/Homer Bailey as possible rotation upgrades and the Padres bullpen

                          potential SP (lefties)
                          Danny Duffy (KC)
                          Jason Vargas (KC)
                          Tyler Anderson (COL)
                          Daniel Norris (DET)
                          Robbie Erlin (SD)
                          Christian Friedrich (SD)
                          Adam Conley (MIA)
                          Gio Gonzalez (WSH)
                          Wei-Yin Chen (MIA)
                          Andrew Heaney (LAA)
                          J.A. Happ (TOR)
                          Wade Miley (BAL)
                          Roenis Elias (BOS-AAA)
                          Brett Anderson (CHC)
                          Drew Pomeranz (BOS)

Update: 30-25 1st in NL Central, tied with the Cubs. My lineup is doing fantastic so i'm only worried about my pitching situation.

                          Rotation:
                          Cole - 3.82ERA
                          Nova - 1.75ERA
                          Taillon - 2.64ERA
                          Kuhl - 3.75ERA
                          Williams - 7.06ERA

                          Bullpen:
                          Shugel - 3.20ERA
                          LeBlanc - 1.57ERA
                          Nicasio - 6.06ERA
                          Marinez - 3.24ERA
                          Watson - 2.02ERA
                          Hudson - 4.32ERA
                          Rivero - 1.47ERA 19SV

I think I will drop Williams from the rotation and into the bullpen and trade Nicasio and trade for a lefty starter. Out of the list above what would be the best option?

The teams out of contention are (6GB+): Twins, Astros, Angels, Padres (worst in MLB 19-37)

Scott Kazmir was on the trade block and they would accept this offer:

                          RP Bastardo (another bullpen arm)
                          SP Kingham (b potential prospect)
3B Mathisen (c potential) is that fair?

I'll wait until end of june/july to make the trade. Also looking into relief help such as Kris Medlen, something cheap.

What trades would you suggest? Where can I improve?
                          I drafted an A potential 74ovr 2B too

At the all star break and he's hitting .337 (1st in the AL) and has 20 stolen bases (3rd in the AL), along with a 2.7 WAR. Just trying to get maybe one good prospect to shore up the farm system, as I have enough OF depth to sell high on him and still be good, with Gamel/Heredia/Haniger as my potential starting OF and Leonys Martin in AAA waiting to be called up to be the 4th OFer. Not really wanting to let Dyson walk for free.

                              I drafted an A potential 74ovr 2B too
From a realistic standpoint the Pirates go after struggling arms or players that fit their mold with years of control. Roenis Elias, Andrew Heaney, Wade Miley, and Christian Fredrich make sense. For Heaney you would pay the most, but get the most out of him. For nearly everyone on this list your trade package would be acceptable. For Heaney I think Ke'Bryan Hayes, Nick Kingham, and Bastardo/Trevor Williams/Nicasio

No thanks. There is already a thread for that around here somewhere.

I don't think that teams would think that he would continue at that pace and put up a 5.4WAR year. I would say realistically a low B pitcher or high C hitter is what you could get.
