Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
A) Kap, Sheffield and Mateo
Or
B)Kap, Frazier, Mateo
Then a deal like: Gsellman. D.Smith and a contract like Granderson (whose money comes off at years end)Last edited by kenp86; 07-21-2017, 10:53 AM.Oakland A's - Seattle Mariners - Detroit TigersPittsburgh Steelers - Green Bay PackersDetroit Red WingsComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
In one of my test simulations I started out with the Braves (not a small budget for 2017) and traded away Kemp, Dickey, Colon and Freeman, all for prospects. I was banking loads of cash for all of 2017.
But once offseason starts, that money seems to vanish. Note that my cash flow did increase by a substantial amount but I couldn't figure out exactly how the banked cash correlated to the increased cash flow for the 17-18 off season and the 2018 season. I did several sims and the math never seemed consistent.
I'm hoping this is just a foundation for a much more detailed budget system as IRL there are many MANY more things that factor in.
You should be able to take in $$$ for parking, merch, concessions, media contracts, etc. And if you don't spend it, you should get to keep it. Look at what the Brewers are doing... they are certainly bringing in more $$$ then they are spending at the moment... their payroll is likely to double over then next 2-3 years but in The Show 17 the only way they can increase is if you win a lot right from the start.
Unfortunately I think it is more likely that the budget system will stay as is, which encourages guys like you to spend their stubs on more budget.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Hey guys! So I'm around the deadline and trying to make realistic moves for other contenders as well as my own franchise and I wanted to make sure that I was making relatively fair moves. Any thoughts on these would be appreciated!
Neshek to BOS for Chatham and Beeks
Hellickson and Nava to SEA for Povse + ???
Hand to CHC for Candelario + De La Cruz
Cozart to BAL for Akin + Scott (Hardy out for year)
AJ Ramos to TEX for ???
Moustakas to BOS for Dalbec + Raudes
Any feedback on any of the trades would be great, thanks!Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Would anyone have ever suggested Tyler O'Neill for Marco Gonzales? Haha.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Gonzales was a top-50 prospect in 2015 but has had injuries. O'neill has had a rough year in AAA this season so I don't think it is as outrageous as it seems. But to answer no we probably wouldn't haveComment

Taking Frazier out doesn't let you keep Rutherford if that's what you're asking

Came out today (least i think it was today, just read an article on it), Cespedes wants to finish his career where it started, in Oakland. What might the cost of a deal be?Oakland A's - Seattle Mariners - Detroit TigersPittsburgh Steelers - Green Bay PackersDetroit Red WingsComment

However, Donaldson and Osuna have been discussed in this thread. If you're in 2017, and both are performing to career norms, you're looking at a good haul for both.
Donaldson to the Mets, for example, has been discussed for Amed Rosario+. Osuna has been discussed for a package headlined by Fedde of the Nationals+. Stats for both would be appreciated, as they help in terms of developing value. In a vacuum however, both are seriously valuable assets. Stats will help give you secondary pieces.
Edit: Totally skipped over Tulo and Martin!
Tulo doesn't have a ton of value. His bat is dropping off rapidly and he got paid. Ditto Martin, who gives lots of value as a game caller and veteran presence, as well as a strong OBP guy. He probably carries more ancillary value to the Jays than he does as a trade chip, but he probably fetches more than Tulo. I would recommend keeping both, as they hold more value in game than they do as trading pieces, unless you want to completely burn it down.Last edited by brandonholmes; 07-22-2017, 09:31 PM.Comment
