Even still, kind of hard to trade for a guy like Donaldson while withholding your best prospects. Smith is a nice piece, but I think the Jays would have better offers than a 1B prospect from elsewhere.
Would you give Vlad Jr. for one year of a 31/32 year old regardless of his talent level?

Nope, but I wouldn't blame the other team for asking for him if all I was offering was a 1B prospect. If you want a guy who might put up 8 WAR, you have to be offering something a little bit harder to come by.

      My personal opinion anyway.

It will depend on how he is playing in the game. But the aging curve suggests that he won't be an 8 WAR player again. I think best case you're hoping he is a 7-7.5 WAR player but he's also going to make something like $22 million in his last year of arbitration.

So say he's worth 7 WAR. And WAR is worth $9 million. That's $63 million in value then subtract his $22 million salary for a surplus of $41 million. Rosario is worth $70 million alone. Conforto is worth a whole bunch. He has like 5 years of service time left and has shown he can be a 3ish WAR player on the cheap. Dom Smith is only worth $20 but if you pair him with Gsellman, Lugo or Matz then that's easily enough for Donaldson.

Would love thoughts on these deals. Trying to compete with LAA at midseason and each team I'm trading with is out of it (besides NYY). I haven't pulled the trigger on any but modeled them after past trades, which I'll include here. 30 team control is on, and I'd really appreciate feedback!

RP Pat Corbin (pitched poorly as SP, moved to pen) to LAA for OF Michael Hermosillo (C+) (Value I think was established earlier here)
2B Cesar Hernandez to LAA for SP Nick Tropeano (B- Pot), SP Nate Smith (C+), and INF David Fletcher (C+) (Modeled after Michael Bourn to ATL)
C Tyler Flowers and INF Sean Kazmar to LAA for Vicente Campos (C+) (modeled after Nick Hundley to BAL)
3B Yunel Escobar (hitting .327/.386/.433) to NYY for INF Tyler Wade (C+) and P Albert Abreu (C+) (Modeled after Johnson and Uribe trades to NYM)
RP Kelvin Herrera to LAA for SP Alex Meyer (B-/C+) and OF Brandon Marsh (B-) (Modeled after Melancon to WSH and Smith to SFG)

What would it take to bring David Robertson back to the Yankees? I assume his stats might make it too expensive but thought I'd ask anyway.

              Here are his stats: 23IP, 36 SO, 1.93 ERA, 1.16 WHIP, 19 SV, 2 BSV, 0.8 WAR.

So I saw earlier on here something mentioning Luzardo + Ward from the Nats, although with his in game stats maybe a bit higher makes sense. Maybe like Andujar + Chad Green? Seems to fit with other trades for top of the line but not truly elite RP (Melancon/Will Smith/Doolittle/Madson/Justin Wilson as opposed to Kimbrel/Miller/Chapman) in both structure and value. I'm not any kind of authority around here but that seems to be in line with prices paid for similar pitchers the past couple years.

I've seen a 10-15 range guy + a 15-30 range guy spectrum recommended here and there, so maybe something like Tate + Solak or so. Maybe more if Chicago eats some money.

That sounds about right to me. I think fairly similar to what I suggested so I'd say Tate or Andujar + Solak or Green sounds like fair value to me although you probably know the Yankees system better than I do so you might have a better idea!

Andujar is a little tricky cause it seems like some lists are high on him and others are low on him, I personally consider him in the top 10, but I think you could make the case he's outside of it. I think Green depends on how you view him/use him. If you're looking at him as a reliever, he's been damn good, but he's just another back end guy as a starter.

I think anyone in the 10-15 range and one 15-30 guy suffices, maybe a 10-15 guy and a 15-20 guy if the White Sox eat some money.

So I kind of revised the original deals to hopefully make them more fair and realistic. Thoughts?

Also, FYI, Vizcaino has had a terrible season and has seen his potential drop, and is a free agent after 2018 (according to in-game) so I'm hoping for a change of scenery rebound for him, if not, it doesn't really hurt me.

If the White Sox deal needs more, I can toss in someone like Jake Romanski, Josh Tobias, Jake Cosart, or Heiker Meneses.

As a ChiSox franchiser, I would not do that deal. I would rather have Swihart to myself or just prospects. Not sure why the Braves would want to trade catchers, either. Might just be me.

Because they're out of it, and Flowers is an aging veteran with an expiring deal who with another player or two could get them a former top prospect who could pan out and help in the rebuild, plus an infield prospect that could become something.

He is 30 and a pretty damn good receiver. Not much older than Swihart who would be his backup if they were on the same team. Chatham could get you Arodys straight up maybe. Take Swihart out and offer some real prospects.
