He is a young, controllable starter who is just a year removed from being an all star. He would command a lot back. Honestly not sure if the teams are a fit here so you would have to overpay. Maybe Kapreilan and Andujar. Maybe a lesser pitcher than Kaprielan if Wacha is struggling.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Thinking about doing an AL franchise (Currently doing a Cubs one). Want to get Schwarber on an AL team. Which teams (if any) could land Schwarber?
Teams I'm thinking about....
Orioles
Rays
Blue Jays
Royals
Twins
Athletics
Rangers

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Who are you getting? Is it this generation's Edgar Martinez? Or is it a player I may not get 500 AB's/yr from that I have close my eyes if I ever put him in the field? The Rays wouldn't be interested as they have plenty of young bats to take a look at and the A's...maybe?
It would be interesting to see if the A's and Cubs would be willing to trade risk for risk in some type of package for S. Gray. However, outside of a simple surplus calculation (which would not indicate his true value), Schwarber is going to have to give the league a full season on his knee that had to be reattached to his body before we can realistically talk about him being moved. I doubt you will even hear rumors of him moving this year as the Cubs have plenty of young prospects they can move for the pitching they want."for love of the game" - B. ChapelComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
This is just a preliminary query, but in my LAD franchise, I'd like to make a permanent spot for Urias in the rotation in year one.
Who among the current rotation and spot starters would be the most sensible to consider moving to get Urias into the rotation?
I'm committed to keeping Kershaw, and in my MLBTS universe, there are no injuries yet, so I have Hill, Kazmir, Maeda, Ryu, McCarthy, and Wood healthy, and at least one of those guys is blocking Urias.
I also have surfeit of MLB-level bullpen arms, and I could consider packaging one of those with a starter.
Do any of those starters seem like they might be moveable? I'm guessing no on Hill and Maeda due to contract length and age, but I'm really not sure.
I played my first series using Quick Counts but those are jacked, so I'm re-starting at ST and am considering a Spring Training trade, which would mean last year's performance/this year's projections would be the baseline.
I don't think I want any MLB-level returns. Rather, I'd be interested in some prospects, perhaps at 3B, C, SP/RP, or any other position where the farm is depleted.
Any thoughts/guidance? Looking for realism. If the most realistic scenario is that none of those guys could be moved, so be it.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Getting ready to start a Franchise with the Indians (I think).
I want to make a deal for Teheran. I can't stand Bauer (IRL) and I'm not totally sold on Carrasco.
Would it be a fair trade to offer Naquin with Bauer and Carrasco for Teheran?

So if your world you just don't like him you could swap them 1 for 1. But again, Carrasco is better than Teheran and I wouldn't advise the regular person on here to make that tradeComment

Taking away the fact we dealt a few guys for Andrew Miller... I think maybe a bit of a package including Bird/Judge and maybe a pitching prospect with B potential...

This is a bad trade for you as the Indians. Carrasco is probably worth as much if not more than Teheran.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Depends on how you feel about Naquin. If you believe his 135 wRC+ was real last year then he's got a lot of value. But if you remain skeptical then he isn't as valuable as you'd assumeComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Trevor Bauer has about half of that value, probably a bit less...Which actually surprised me, but facts are facts he can be solid, and a ~2 WAR pitcher on a cheap contract (ARB) is valuable.
Tyler Naquin I usually hate doing younger players, but let's see. He is locked up for this year and next at minimum, and then has 4 years of ARB. So still a ton of control. Let's say he averages 3 WAR (2.5 last year) for the rest of his contract...He will likely have ~129 million in value in the trade market. That is with my own formula of ARB of course, but he is very valuable is all I am trying to say.
So, I think I would trade Bauer off for some prospects, and then flip them along with a good one of yours for Teheran in an unofficial three team deal.
