Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Thanks in advance for your feedback. With Jake Bauer I think it is being an 'A' prospect at 1B for TB, what would get them interested in giving the Rockies Gillaspie who I think is a 'B' prospect at 1B for TB? I could see a rare prospect for prospect trade here. I was wondering if anyone else would think so as well? I'm looking to move Desmond into more of a Zobrist role in 2018."for love of the game" - B. Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I'm sure they'd ask for Albies or Swanson. But it isn't really a trade that makes sense for either side. Toronto is still going for it and the Braves need more time

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Last but not least! I remember you and your Royals franchises from years past and one has to admire a true fan coming back year after year (as a lifelong O's fan, I empathize). Let's talk about what you have this year...
Hosmer - HOU has AJ Reed beating down the door, I just don't see them in the Hosmer market. WAS is in a similar position though sit at the other side of the spectrum with Zimmerman. That leaves TOR and with Tulo and Donaldson along with what it will cost to get Hosmer (and then resign as why would they spend that capital and not reinvest?), I don't see it.
We did a deal with the Rangers for J.Profar/R.Guzman/M.Smoral the other day and I think that deal is a win for both teams. Sounds like it may fit in your franchise as well.
Escobar - Again, with the teams you've given, I don't see a fit. On top of that, are you really (I mean really) sure you want to part with him? He will be afforadable for the Royals next year and watching Mondesi play the other day, that's a middle IF combination you can pencil in every day next year. Otherwise, he's a gold glove type SS that is a rental. I think his best value is with the Royals. We can kick it around some more once we settle out these other deals.
Kennedy - I think you've got his value a little too high with the names you're interested in. This may be a good time to talk about a T. Wood throw in but unless you're going to take the mound personally, haven't you run out of arms that fans would pay to see play? ATL got away with it because they were building for a new ball park, what is KC doing?
He can be traded and you will get a piece for him but he's got to run 2+ WAR for that contract to make sense (and KC is not giving any money to go with him) so lowing the target range makes sense here.
I'll give you a personal offer though. T. Mancini (BAL) straight up. BAL needs rotation help and has U. Jimenez coming off the books next year. Mancini doesn't have a home and can play 1B tomorrow if you trade Hosmer.
Cain - requires more research than I had time between cups of coffee. If nobody gets back to you by lunch today, I'll chime back in and see if we can work something out.
Good luck sir...you're gonna need it!I'll add on for the Lorenzo Cain part!
He is in a walk year, but with a projected ~3 WAR and what, ~8 million for this year? He is quite valuable even as a potential free agent.
He brings in a value of ~15.25 which could net you a top 76-100 pitching prospect or a "just missed" top 100 hitting prospect. So a B potential, just nobody that is super highly touted.
Christian Arroyo is the 69th ranked prospect in MLB, and he might be a bit too rich for Cain...But they are 8 games back and need to be in the playoffs. I think Tyler Beede is the more realistic option. The 88th best spec in the league.
Giants receive:
Lorenzo Cain
Royals Receive:
Tyler Beede

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Adding Travis Wood to a package doesn't really do anything. He had a hard time finding a landing spot this offseason and he doesn't really help the Giants push towards the playoffs in any wayComment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
Decided to get Adam Duvall as my left fielder. I'm now looking to acquire a 4th outfielder. Preferably a guy with a good glove, good contact and good speed. An upgrade over Carrera.
Guys I like-
Craig Gentry
Jon Jay
Billy Burns
Juan Lagares
I would like to know the value of the guys I listed and if there are other guys like that I could look at.
Thank you.Last edited by pickle2002; 04-14-2017, 07:25 PM.Comment

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
I responded without looking it up based on local talk radio and...eh, it doesn't matter. It appears the stats that have been recorded have him in LF for the first half dozen games. He spent 60+ games in RF last year but regardless, he will most likely play RF when he comes up (unless he falls off a cliff, it will be this early this year). The problem showed early as Gillespie has legit potential that he has demonstrated in AAA but can only play 1B/DH. Bauers is a good enough athlete to transfer to the OF.
The final decision came late in spring training and they didn't start playing until last week. Not near enough time for the roster guys to make that kind of adjustment. I made the adjustment in my copy of their roster and ticked up his fielding and reaction accordingly."for love of the game" - B. ChapelComment

Again, non sexy options I posted a few days ago could be R. Davis (OAK) and P. Bourjos (TB). A couple of farm hands that will never know what it's like for someone else to carry their luggage for Davis and a season long pass for free hot dogs for Bourjos will do the trick."for love of the game" - B. Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
You've got a bunch of "yeah, he'll do" kind of guys. Though I like B. Burns a bit better than most and he is, most likely, the best of the bunch. Pick one and give the selling club a AA C POT arm that is pitching well and add a developmental athlete based on the stats of the player you're buying and you're good.

Re: MLB 17 Trade Discussion Thread
About to start up my Braves franchise and wanted to get thoughts on what it would take to acquire Yangervis Solarte from SD? I'd like to get a better option than Adonis Garcia at 3B. Solarte could be a nice pickup for a couple seasons while Ruiz/Riley progress. If not Solarte, any other options to consider?Comment
