I've been experimenting with different cameras. I went from using The Show 15 as my main camera to experimenting with Strike Zone and Zoom. Also, I use directional hitting.

Any help with pitch recognition or any other hitting tips would be appreciated.
Go to batting practice, pick a pitcher with a particularly nasty off speed pitch that you have trouble with, and take the time to study the subtle differences in his delivery and pitch movement in a low pressure environment. Also a good way to learn how patient you have to be for an offspeed and work on your timing.

The pressure of a game environment can make it difficult to learn the timing of an offspeed pitch.

Taking a pitch has really helped me improve my hitting. Before I was swinging at way too many first pitches and even if they are a strike, they're normally on the corners and not very hitable. Taking a strike usually leads to a 1-1 count at worst and leads to many more 2-0, 3-1, 2-1 counts where your hitters can do a lot of damage.

always work the count. unless of course a ball comes in right where you wanted one to begin with then just unload on it. but its always good to work the count.

Is it possible to sub players out before they reach the batters box? Say in an NL game I know the pitcher is coming up and I don't want him to bat yet overtime I can't make the change till he is actually in the batters box.

Sometimes the game will ask you if you'd rather have a hitter hit instead of the pitcher before they reach the batters box. Just an FYI though, energy is calculated by pitch/play, so as long as you sub them out before a pitch is thrown, it's the same as if they had been subbed out before reaching the box.

Any tips on pitching with extreme shifts? I let the cpu dictate when to use them but it seems like I always give up easy hits with them on. I assume I should pitch toward the shift (left side of the plate if everyone shifts toward first base and vice versa).

Pitching to the shift is a combination of many different factors such as pitch speed, movement, selection, etc. The CPU will shift for pull hitters almost exclusively. The only other fielder movement I've seen is playing deep, bunt and double play coverage. Note: I could be wrong about this as I'm going off my own observations.

Working off the assumption that you are pitching to a pull hitter take note of..

Is he ahead or behind your pitch?
Does your pitcher have the pitch accuracy to pitch inside?
                  Is he swinging above/below pitches?
                  Situational baseball? Outs+men on...

All that being said place pitches in locations and at speeds that will ensure he pulls the ball and keeps it on the ground or air. For example, a change up is likely to be pulled as the batter will be ahead of it. In contrast if you've set up your fastball he should be behind. Note: there are always exceptions and I'm by no means an expert.

Have you considered setting your own shifts? I will typically place each defender individually rather than let the computer control the shift. I realize this isn't practical online so I will always keep my outfield straight up and or deep and let the infield shift when online. However, i always pitch to strike him out and only pitch to contact situationally

                  Hope this helped

Hold the left stick to the right and click L2 to steal the runner on first. Once the button is clicked you can let go.

As for the second question, were you asking how to start managing your roster (press L1, R1 until your reach the team management screen on your teams front end page, manage roster is an option)? Or were you looking for more advanced advice?

Overall, I suggest managing promotions/demotions based on performance alone. Prospect progression can be heavily reliant on performance, but if they are doing well the higher the level the faster they will progress, so putting the right prospect in the right league is key. Sink your top prospect to single A if they are failing to perform, and raise even your worst prospect to AAA if they are raking.

A good pitching strategy I have used (taken from real life strategy) is 1st pitch strike but try for the corners stay out of the middle of the zone...2nd pitch ball to strike meaning a pitch that starts as a ball then lands in the strike zone ...3rd pitch strike to a ball or a pitch that starts as a strike but ends up a out of the strike zone in an attempt to get a swing and miss on a batter looking to protect the plate with 2 strikes. Of course executing the pitches with accuracy is the key.

                            Hey everyone,

Quick question on batting. I'm not very good, so my settings are:

                            Hitting Difficult = rookie
                            Hitting interface = directional
                            Input type = buttons

After every swing, the yellow vision thingy has never ever moves from the exact middle. My plate vision is 84. Shouldn't it move a little towards each pitch? I basically can't hit anything unless it's pitched exactly down the middle of the batting box.

Appreciate if you could let me know if I'm missing a configuration setting somewhere.

                            Thank you!

Don't trust the swing feedback, it's always been a bit screwy. Don't worry, in directional, your PCI is moving, and it's accuracy is based on a few factors (like vision). You just don't get to see it in the feedback.
