Re: MLB The Show 17 Teach Me/Strategies Thread
Can anyone help with the Force Trade option?
I don't see the button for it anymore, and the directions say that enabling it means the AI will just accept trades, but I don't notice that happening either. Even if the bar at the bottom is in their favor, I still get the other team saying it's an interesting trade, but not one they wantComment

The teach me/strategies thread is for things like advice on how to hit, pitch, or field. This is clearly just a question and belongs in the Q&A thread. It's not that I'm mad I just don't want this thread to become Q&A 2.0.Comment

Hmm, are you running into a problem with roster numbers? Either way this is the wrong thread.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Teach Me/Strategies Thread
Nope the influence you choose effects the type of swing you take. There are bonuses and negatives of each swing type. Refer to earlier in the thread I've written a ton about it. (I think it starts on page 4)
Directional is more about picking a swing before the pitch and waiting for the ball to come to you.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Teach Me/Strategies Thread
Hey there, just stumbled upon this thread and noticed you were the directional hitting guru here. I have one question that I'm never sure what the answer is. Should I be holding the direction the entire time I'm swinging or should I be doing it before the swing like a quick flick and then go ahead and swing. And, let's say I do a quick flick to a direction right before the pitch comes, does that flick count or did the game kinda forget it happened, almost like cancelling the direction? Thanks in advance!
So no, flicking won't work.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Teach Me/Strategies Thread
Nope you should be holding it the entire time if that's the kind of swing you want to do. Gives you a (very) small window to turn that pull swing into a push if you have a change in heart mid-delivery. If the arrow isn't there then you're swing will have no influence.

Re: MLB The Show 17 Teach Me/Strategies Thread
so barring certain situations do ya'll go up to every ab pointing the LS in your hitters strength? does that producer better number?
usually i just press x unless its a situation where im better off pulling or pushing the ball.
for instance if im the jays using joey bats should i always look to pull until im down 2 strikes?Comment

Sorry for the simple answer but your question was worded perfectly. I'm actually writing up a Directional hitting guide that I'll post soon just because there have been so many questions about it.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 17 Teach Me/Strategies Thread
more of a straight question than a strategy, but he's not in the game. The Show only has rights to players who are under the CBA of the MLBPA, and a player is only covered under that if they have at least a day of MLB service time.
You can try the Operation Sports Full Minors roster (OSFM). Not sure if that's out yet but if it is you can download it in game. He might not be on that though due to roster restrictions I don't know not really my area of expertise.Comment

He's in the OSFM roster because I saw him in a RTTS game.Comment

Fellas, in your opinion which pitching interface provides the most authentic/realistic pitching experience?
I do not want the easiest, I want the most authentic/realistic."Florida State, the only FBS Division-1 school to finish consecutively in the AP top 5 poll for 14 years. This is a record that no other collegiate football team will ever remotely come close to accomplishing again."

Opinions will obviously vary on this but I have used all interfaces over the years and I have been solely using meter for the last 2 years.
To me, it allows user input for pitch speed and location but also takes into account the pitcher's ratings. You could say the same for analog and pulse as well. I feel I get realistic stats using meter in my franchises.
I know Timing is a popular option and probably plays more on the pitcher's ratings than the others. I would consider it the easiest to control but of course a strike or ball depends heavily on your pitcher's ratings such as control, BB/9, H/9, etc.
I do like timing but with timing, I don't feel as in control because you just aim for location and press/hold the button for pitch speed and to complete the throw.
I feel meter still allows me to feel more involved with the aspects of each pitch while also allowing pitcher ratings to come into play to end up with the final pitch result.
Again, everybody's preferences on pitching interfaces will be different. But IMO meter feels more authentic/realistic and works best for me.

If you want authentic/realistic stats/production, then it's definitely classic as that interfaces takes into account ratings more than any other.Comment
