There is no way in directional to completely eliminate the possibility of weak contact. Even perfectly timed inputs by super star players will on occasion result in weak contact. There are things you can do to minimize weak contact, but overall there will always be some chance of it happening.

If you're dissatisfied with the amount of weak contact you are getting on good inputs, I recommend raising the solid hits slider.

You can read all about what the different influences do in the OP.

Through the 1st month of my fantasy draft franchise, my approach has been pretty solid I think.

Team is top 10 in MLB in On Base % and Home Runs..I was just .500 for the month with some hard luck losses, but I also had wins like I had yesterday where I stranded base runners all game, until scoring 4 runs in the 9th to come back from 3 down..so that stuff balances itself out.

I just have to keep on reminding myself to focus on keeping a good approach with my batters, because sometimes seeing "Good" for timing and contact" and hitting into outs gets into my head.

That is one of the toughest things to consistently do no matter what swing system you use - and it's also essential if you want to draw walks.

Ever find yourself pressing with 1 particular player in your lineup, for no rational reason and nothing you see to do is able to fix it ? lol

Having that issue right now with George Springer. I got him at the trade deadline, and after making a great first impression in his first week on the team, he's been an enigma ever since. It doesn't help that I'm constantly late with his swings. It's just him too, I have no issues catching up to pitches with other players. His past three games have been an exercise in striking out, with some minor sprinkles of weak contact.

On the bright side, I gave up an underachieving star to get him, so I didn't plunder the farm system, and I actually saved money. I'm heading into a very important off season where my financial situation will either make or break my team.

JD Martinez had a hot start for me and I was hitting no doubt home runs at will. I then got complacent proceeded to work his batting average all the way down from .320 to .200. I discovered that it is no good pressing with a guy who has 47 vision (strikeouts galore). I backed off stopped using influence and just looked to put the ball in play. I got his average back up to .280 and finally used pull influence to hit a 3 run homer with him last night his first one in 10 games!

Occasionally I'll get like that with my big sluggers in the lineup. Especially in situations where I don't expect the CPU pitcher to walk him. Say, runners on 1st+2nd, 0 or 1 out, and I get the pitcher in a cripple count (2-0, 3-1) and I expect to start seeing hittable strikes to avoid loading the bases.

I always look for walks to get into those situations, but I was losing my discipline once I got there, causing my work to not pay off as it should.

For example, in my Rockies fantasy, I have Gallo with Sano behind him. So if Gallo is up, I expect the CPU to try not to load the bases for Sano.

Well, at least on Legend with my settings, the CPU will actually walk a guy before giving in. However, I'll swing at crap and either strike out or swing at ball four. Or worse, GIDP.

Frustrates me to no end. So, now, I tell myself "always look for the walk". That keeps me away from the situation, keeps me away from edge pitches (which, as was said, with low Vision guys you don't want to swing at), and, like DeRo says, "if they want to walk 'em all in, we'll take it". I take those words to heart now. Really helped my approach in those situations.

                      By franchise:

Rockies Fantasy - Gallo. Doesn't help that I had him in MLB16 on my Red Sox and he turned into the best hitter in the game (95 Contact, 99 Power). So that's still in the back of my mind I guess lol.

Marlins Carryover - Stan Brito, 80's contact, 99 Power. He has this stance that looks bad *** like he's ready to destroy the ball. Sometimes I get way too aggressive.

Red Sox Carryover - Hmm...no big slugger on that team...but probably Mookie Betts or Dee Gordon of all people. They are key to lineup and for whatever reason, I go easy on Devers and Benintendi and zone in with them.

Gotta confess...I thoroughly read the OP for the first time today...it's good stuff for sure! I've been really struggling and I think I gleaned a few things to try out.

Quickie question though: you reference low vision and high vision hitters....what's your ballpark value(s) for "bucketing" them? My gut says I would consider 70+ to be high vision...would you agree?
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

                              How I think of it:

                              under 40 poor
                              40-50 below avg
                              51-60 fringe
                              61-70 average
                              71-80 above average
                              81-90 very good
                              91+ exceptional

So for me, 81+ is "high".

Drive or hybrid drive/tendency. Lots of drive/pull swings for power bats. Usually straight drive for leadoff archetypes. I'll sometimes do a pull or push with high discipline hitters, especially vs pitchers with low velocity or K/9.
