Re: Uniforms Need to be Overhauled

I just wanted to say personally that I'm happy they finally fixed the Angel's red this year. It looks so red and beautiful and it makes me happy.

Man. The Phillies red being the only (current) one to still be dull and washed out makes it so much worse than before lol. Why did they get left out of the bright red party?

I've always hated that "style guide" nonsense. It was like how the rockies always had a purple undershirt under the black vests because that was what was in the "style guide"...blah blah lol

Obviously a small detail but for us Rockies fans it is pretty big to have the helmets a completely different color. Is this fixable you think? At least adding the matte finish to the throwback helmets.

Too bad they didnt fix the colors on fielding gloves.

Tried giving Luis Castillo of the Reds a red glove but it was super dark red.

I've noticed that as well. At some point I'm hoping they give us the color palette used on Rawlings and Wilson's websites and/or give us the color spectrum used for making DD uniforms.

Other than the addition of the neon and golden brown, the colors for gloves has basically remained untouched since MLB 10.

So. One thing I just noticed today. I used the Phillies alternate, the one with the blue caps with red brims, and the brim of the cap is bright red. Like the rest of the reds in the game. Bright. Vibrant. Fixed. But the red on the jersey isn’t! It’s still the same dark dull red that the rest of the Phillies jerseys have. But the cap is fixed! Why?! 🤯 This makes it even worse! They fixed one cap and left the rest untouched so now the cap doesn’t even match the jersey! Lmao.

Also, still hate that I can see on the video board the pictures of the Phillies players in their bright red vibrant hats while I’m staring at their dark dull maroon-ish hats. [emoji849] LOL even the broadcast cutaway with the rotating helmet is brighter red! Unreal.

The red for the gloves was actually ok a couple of years ago, but now it doesn't look much different than the maroon option. Blue is also too dark. It's just a shade brighter than the navy blue option. Seems like since they started using PBR on the fielding gloves, they have gotten darker.

Posting this in a couple of threads for maximum visibility. I posted this last year, but it’s worth a mention. Here’s a page from the OFFICIAL Uniforms & Logos Book published BY THE CARDINALS (You can order it here, well worth the price if you’re a fan: http://stlouis.cardinals.mlb.com/stl...orms-logos.jsp)

Here's a picture of the Cardinals 2014/2015/2016 uniforms from the book (remember, this is an OFFICIAL publication of the Cardinals). 2015 is presented as a separate uniform due to the OT patch in memory of Oscar Tavaras.

Re: Uniforms Need to be Overhauled

If you look at 2014 and 2016, those are the five uniform combinations the team currently wears. The hats, jerseys and pants are the same in both years, as well as 2017 and 2018. The hats have remained constant in this arrangement since 2013.

And the Cardinals themselves explain WHEN each hat is worn. Really can't make it much simpler than that. Why can’t we have nice things? Just make the hats an entity unto themselves, like the 4th of July hats.

If you're a Cardinal fan, the book is worth the $30 cost. Every year of their history is shown the same way as the picture I posted. It's amazing. I thought I knew most of their postwar uniform history but I had no idea that from 1956-58 they wore navy blue socks on the road (still with stripes, but colors inverted from home red striped socks). Or that in 1964, the red hat was introduced primarily because Stan Musial retired at the end of the 1963 season. Ownership said they would've never changed the hat from blue while Musial was playing. Even then, the blue hat with the red STL (identical to the road alt today) continued to be worn on the road in 1964. The kicker for me was that the red hat introduced and worn at home in the 1964 regular season had a NAVY BLUE STL. I've never seen a replica of that hat anywhere, until the spring training hat this year. But the 1964 hat a red bill vs. a blue bill.

The traditional red hat with WHITE STL was not introduced until the home games of the 1964 World Series (the book makes clear that introducing new uniform elements for World Series games was a relatively common practice, at least through 1964). This hat became the only hat worn from 1965-1991, until the Cards brought back the navy blue hat for road games to celebrate their 100th anniversary in 1992.

Well there at it, can someone please fix the boldness of the numerals in the front of the Dodgers jersey? The fix has been neglected way too long.

Wow I came here to post this very thing. The Angels have what I consider to be gorgeous uniforms in real life, but they look like trash in the game. I look at other sports games and uniforms seem to be faithful recreations of their real-life counterparts. Surely SCEA can do the same.

I posted this in the Q&A thread. Oddly the OKC Dodgers uniform bears a much closer resemblance to the real MLB jersey.

So now that video of MLB The Show 19 is starting to surface, I figured it was a good time to bump this thread so we can continue the discussion of uniforms improvements for this year's game. Good news is that there was one already spotted in the teaser by LetsGoBucs.

Front numerals appear to have been placed higher, closer to the team name:

Bad news is that doesn't look like we are getting real-time cloth physics. Not too surprising this late in the console generation, but still a tad disappointing.
