It seems odd to bring in a studio analyst as a commentator. Either way, I'm still excited for March 23rd but for a studio analyst you think they would have brought him in as part of a new Post Game Show or something.

Not the end of the world, just don’t understand why they removed that from MLB ‘16.

Yeah also disappointed chalk degradation just disappeared in 17 and by the looks of it it’s still absent in 18.

My hope is on Thursday they will deep dive into the dynamic commentary over the course of franchise mode. Also historical matchup OSD’s and discussions and that also being dynamic in your own franchise universe.

Presentation really needs a step up in terms of statistical discussion and more OSD’s.

I know the videos are WIP so I hope this isn't the case for the final build, but in this video, the "generic" manager is wearing a jacket.

The fact that one of the 'features' is real speed replays says a lot to me. I'm not sure I've ever thought 'man, i really wish that replay was full speed'. No doubt it adds something but they are clutching at straws a bit if thats one of the main 'features'.

I really hope they removed the music that plays when they show replays of homeruns from earlier in the game. It's so out of place for a random song to play while showing the replay.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Video - Mark DeRosa Joins Commentary Team with Improved Presentat

Man, I feel like the only one that didn't like Reynolds in the booth. I think he's good at in studio analysis, but I did not like his commentating style at all. Although listening to DeRosa I don't know if I'll like him either...

Also, would have been great to show new crowd animations. Unless they forgot and thought those were new. In which case we got none. Lol.

Glad recorded in the same room this year, but, and this isn't necessarily the fault of the game designers, they can't record enough audio for it not to get really repetitive to a player that plays a ton like myself. All I can hope is that the lines are the least annoying they can be.

We need a new post game animation sequence. Hope that changes. But probably won't.

I like the full speed replays, but like the above poster said, if that's your feature, if that's the thing you go to your fan base and say "see what we did this off-season!" then you are really scraping the bottom of the barrel.

Realistically, you could have shown me this video without any other sort of marketing or anything and I'd have thought it was 17 with a voiceover and some colored lines.

I had a pretty extensive suggestion about this once last year. The crux of it is this: they need shorter lines.

Never really cared for Reynolds that much - part of that is not really his fault though. Seems like the game is programmed for him to give that same description of the starting pitcher for both sides ... and the repetitiveness always bugged me. That and when he would say that the 8th place hitter needed to give the pitcher a breather - HUH? I always thought it was the leadoff man who needed to take a few pitches to give his pitcher a chance to rest before going back on the bump.

I am looking forward to DeRosa. Part of that is being a Braves fan and his Braves ties.

I am also excited about the new crowd dynamics. Always thought it was unrealistic for so many fans to be present every game all game. Looking forward to seeing the crowd thin out during blowouts.

Managers wearing jackets in warm weather has been in for years. Hopefully fixed for release.

Isn't the pitcher on-deck, though? Maybe they're not talking about him just returning to the bump.

It was iffy and minuscule, at best. It seems like this rewrite of the algorithm will be a vast improvement. Time will tell on that one.

And it doesn't just need to be a blowout. There could be a lot of improved logic in this area that they may have accounted for.

So crowds have been reworked? Well if true and it works my Mets/Whitesox Franchise should have empty ballparks after opening day[emoji1303]

Could be me but I always thought crowd logic was already in the game. I’ve seen ballparks empty during a blow out or see larger attendance rates for rivalry games.

Unless it’s truly noticeable this year I don’t understand the big headline
