MLB The Show 18 Video - Bat Flips
Lol okay yeah. Technically exhibition/home run derby/practice etc are the least played. But those aren’t even primary game modes. They have no depth or substance. Being the least played of the game modes that have depth, substance, extended play value, etc. says enough.Last edited by GoDucks1224; 03-04-2018, 01:54 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Video - Bat Flips
Not really casual MLB fans, just consumers that prefer to play their video games differently.

Didn’t specify casual MLB fans. I do think some are. But I also think it’s just casual sports gamers who like card collecting and such. Guys who play MUT who decided to pick up a baseball game even though they probably don’t watch the sport.Comment

Nah, it's a way to try and paint DD as some casual mode for casual fans. It's an assumption pushed by those who don't like the mode and try to come off as some video game or fan of the sport eliteist. Example......I don't like DD so it must only survive because of all these casual gamers and casual baseball fans.

I mean I've always loved comics but I find they've been horrible the past few years then I realized I'm no longer the target audience. This is what's happening with video games. Modes like DD and Ultimate Team are for the target audience. Franchise is old school I guess.

Franchise isn't old school. It's sophisticated and requires a solid attention span to enjoy. It's for people who actually like baseball.
A lot of people who play DD probably don't even watch baseball.Do it. (Release The Show for PC)Comment

^ This sounds familiar to Karl Ravech's beef with Fantasy Baseball and the way that it is oversaturating the fanbase with baseball fans that aren't the purest of form. To that my argument is "any publicity is good publicity."
If it sells the game, we should be happy. You’re putting a lot of words in my mouth that I don’t agree with. By casual I simply mean people who aren’t really baseball fans that just like the game mode. Yes, baseball fans also play it. But the increase in emphasis on DD and increase in sales seems an easy correlation. It appeals to a broader audience. But you seem to be pretty defensive about my relatively harmless comments so whatever. I don’t even have a problem with DD, its emphasis, or the increase in sales due to people who only play DD. Have a nice day. [emoji16]Comment

Nah but you told me what I meant. Can’t stand that. Especially when it’s not what I was trying to say. I guess I use casual differently than most here.Comment

I didn't say anything you didn't say yourself. If it's bit what you meant then I misunderstood.

Lol you asserted that I have problems with the mode and the people who play it. And that I’m some elitist snob who thinks it’s ruining the game. When I said none of that. I simply used the term casual. Because I think it appeals to a broader audience that includes casual baseball fans or sports gamers who like the game type. You’re really going to try and tell me that everyone who plays DD is a hardcore baseball fan and that the increase in sales of the game is entirely hardcore baseball fans? I get it. You’re a real baseball fan who plays DD. Relax. I’m aware plenty are. I’m just pointing out that it’s also the most appealing mode to a broader audience that includes casual fans and non-fans.
Hell, my initial post was explaining that an increased emphasis on DD has boosted the sales of the game.Comment

I kinda sense MLB is right now where Nascar was after Dale Sr. died. It took a lot of years to pass but I eventually got to the point about 4 years ago where my interest in Nascar is as low as it can be & still have some interest. I put Nascar along with golf & tennis & soccer now (for my own personal interest that is).OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23
