Re: MLB The Show 18 Video - Bat Flips
Baseball is losing their audience because it's deemed boring and not action-packed like the other major sports. Bat flips are a small and fun way for kids (you know the main demographic for this feature) to enjoy the game. I would venture a guess that most of them couldn't care less about making sure their scouting is correct or ensuring their underachieving top prospect spends another year in AA for polishing.
Not every feature is geared toward us hardcores at OS. Let your hair down and have some fun!! Like it or not, bat flips might become a thing, and I think it would be hilarious. If the NFL can have ridiculous dances after a TD or an NBA player leaves his hand up after making a three or stands over somebody after a dunk, why can't baseball have a little fun with bat flips? Poor sportsmanship? Weak. If your ego is that fragile, then sports might not be for you...Comment

Is baseball really losing it's audience? I mean, if someone is a fan of baseball, they don't see the game as boring, so..Do it. (Release The Show for PC)Comment

Baseball is losing it's audience cause it's deemed boring? Yea, I guess it's deemed boring by the people who never liked it anyway. Bat flips won't make someone who doesn't like baseball start being interested in it.

I dunno. Sort of over debating over something that appears to be a choice. Me, if it makes me laugh a bit during the game, it's okay. Ever set the controller down and watch some of the funny stuff that goes on?
This game is NEVER going to give us absolutely everything we want at one felt swoop. As a producer of the game I wouldn't. And I'm sure it isn't as easy as everyone is making it out to be......i.e., "just put it in the game". I'm sure the devs are given their marching orders at the beginning of the development cycle and they do what the bosses tell them. Understood.
All I know, is I'm not playing Interplay 2000. I'm so thankful for what the game offers.Comment

Baseball is my first love, but I can certainly see my son and daughter liking something else because theres more immediate entertainment for the time they invest. Baseball is an acquired taste and takes knowing a lot of the nuances to fully enjoy the game, where as basketball or hockey its constant back and forth movement and action.
Injecting a little life and personality into baseball isn't such a bad thing to attract new people to the sport. That's all i was alluding to.Comment

Yeah man, screw fun! This sport isn’t about fun! No celebrating! No emotion! Bean ball everyone! Gahhhh! IMG_2116.JPG
Actually not gonna quote him. This thread is loaded with bat flip haters. And I don’t just mean these ridiculous silly fun ones. [emoji12]Last edited by GoDucks1224; 03-02-2018, 10:01 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Video - Bat Flips & Home Run Celebrations
The casual audience doesn’t make YouTube comments, frankly. The real casuals, the majority of the playerbase, are the ones who watch the video on Facebook or something and move on. Maybe they give it a ‘like’.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Video - Bat Flips
I promise you they do not have as many preorders this year that’s why u see it advertise in 17 and they pushing harder for it then in any year before !!! Casual and arcadey have been the priority target well it’s gonna bite them in the butt when offline franchisers quit buying every year .. I promise you if the big thing th y added to franchise is jus 3 inning games and ability to sim to whenever is it this game will not sale million copies this year ..
Sent from my iPhone using Operation Sports
Casual and arcadey would actually appeal to more people. Just look at FIFA or Madden. Even if they lost every single one of us franchise heads, I’m almost positive their sales would still go up every year or stay around the same.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Video - Bat Flips
Every blasted year. Every blasted sports game. Without fail.
If it's not "The game looks the same as last year." It's "Oh, they put in this feature I don't like. So that means the one I did like got ignored! WAH WAH WAAAAAH!"Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Video - Bat Flips
I despise when people say ‘the game looks the same.’
Well yes. Why do you expect a massive difference in the way an annual sports title on the same generation of consoles looks? Gah.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Video - Bat Flips
They say that every year...but ask them to go back and play the game just two years ago and the difference is often striking.Comment

Golf has club twirls and also has guys fist pumping and being completely psyched after making a winning putt with 0 consequence. Just look at Tiger Woods in his prime, easily one of the cockiest dudes on the tour and he is probably the greatest thing to ever happen to golf. If a baseball player used any antics like Tiger they would get hit by the whiny pitcher in this next AB.Comment
