What is happening to this place? I understand constructive criticism and often partake in the practice myself, but even with all my complaints, I still LOVE this game every year and always have hope the devs will deliver another solid baseball experience. Even with many concerns about Franchise mode, I can't wait to get my hands on this game! The wait is killing me.
Some of the comments around here the last few weeks have been downright insulting to the people working on the game. Constructive criticism is one thing. Outright bashing the game and proclaiming the devs are doing things to take the game away from being a baseball simulation is just wrong. If I worked on this game as a developer, I would stay far away from this place.Comment

It's straddling a weird fence right now. They call this game a simulation. A simulation is true to life in all respects, it's inferred when you call something a simulation. If this game was a TRUE simulation you'd have things like brawls, you'd have things like true rain outs, you'd have true ball physics and what not (not going to open that can of worms). I get limitations faced based off the MLB, time, staff, etc. but it gets very frustrating everyone touting this as the greatest MLB simulation ever and fill these forums with nothing but sunshine and overzealous fawning. There are major issues to the game that need addressed.
It is incredibly frustrating to see a developer spend any amount of time on something as silly and frivolous as these absurd bat flips when the ball mechanics aren't right. Or the lazy throws to first that hasn't been fixed. Or the uniform colors are still off. Or the entire laundry list of items that people bring up.
The real irony, if a player mashed a monster homer and then proceeded to do any of these bat flips, there'd be a 100 mph fastball at his head the second he next stepped into the batters box. I guess we'll leave that to real life and not in this simulation....Comment

I disagree completely on this point. At least in the groups and folks of "hard core" franchise players that I talk to and with. Any, even small, improvements are usually enough to get a purchase out of us. Improvements in physics, AI, performance hell even ball park updates are enough. Casuals don't understand we are in for the long haul, the slow burn. The group of us that plays every pitch of every inning, thru spring training etc, one little improvement to us can make all of the difference in the world.
Every and I mean every version of The Show has had issues. '15 you could not pitch over at all without throwing the ball in the stands. which basically killed and entire aspect of the game. Last year I struggled between '16 and '17 and barely finished a season in each one onced '17 dropped. People I know play the same way I do and some went back to '16, but they still purchased '17. I ended up back in '17 knowing that this is just the next step and that beyond any doubt I WOULD be buying '18.
So yeah, in my opinion '18 will be the best selling game to date. Between the casuals that must have the newest and brightest of everything. To the dedicated franchise player, this game will be purchased by one and all. I don't understand why it's a 50 cent argument.
Is this touted as a simulation? Yes.
Does the game use real ball physics? No.
Do we still have an issue with lazy throws to first? Yes.
Are there still a PLETHORA of issues with the gameplay that need to be addressed? Yes.
I will try to keep an open mind after reading many of the responses and say, yes, I understand that we at OS are not the majority of people buying this game and many people may want those bat flips and card collecting so you must cater to all audiences. With that said, I guess it's just frustration coming out in my posts. I'd be totally okay with not touching franchise (many others wouldn't) and adding unrealistic bat flips if they fix the legacy gameplay issues that have affected this game for years.Comment
