Someone asked...playoff roster eligibility is not fixed. If they are not physically on 25 man on Sept 1 they are not eligible.

How does hitting feel this year? Is there a noticable difference (that is not a placebo?)...I always felt, even with zone hitting, that the feedback or where my swing was didn't correlate to where the ball went.

Is there an increased hitting variety?

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

I have an extremely small sample size of both ‘18 & ‘17 but from my experience there is definitely more hitting variety in ‘18 vs ‘17.

This may be an unfair way to describe hitting this year but it feels more “pure”. The ball comes off the bat in a manner you would expect.

I can't tell you enough about feeling in that regard yet (I will get into some detail on the bottom), but it is not a placebo! I'm not just talking about hitting, I am talking about overall controller responsiveness.

The moment I threw my first pitches while the game was installing, I thought it was doing it for me because it was doing tutorials. I thought my meter was clicking before I was pressing X. So I let one go by to be sure it wasn't the game doing it, and sure enough it was not. I've played enough games of '17 to know the immediate difference here.

In '17 I had fastball pitch speed at 5. I just couldn't hit in that game. Now I have it up to 10 again in '18 and I am pulling balls foul (or fair) constantly. I can also work myself on inside pitches much better. I will attribute a part of that to the moving PCI after the swing, which is a long time coming.

If you ever saw, I'm the only person in the world who called out Uncharted 4 on laggy controls and gun play. I just came off playing the Nathan Drake Collection (all three games) where I could perform headshots from a mile away, and in UC4 I couldn't kill enemies right next to me. It was way too laggy. No one else saw it that way. I am far too sensitive to these things to know what I can or can't do. I was sitting there blaming my TV, as I was for The Show '17. Now I find out that '18 is that cure.

Now, if you want a little more of your question answered, there are a lot of other things to be really happy about with hitting as well, mostly regarding the hit variety. There are balls cued off the end of the bat (not in the air as much) and there are balls fisted off the handle, and it really makes sense where they go. Hitting has changed so much this year. Also, balls physics in the air now feel right. I am going to upload a clip later of a base hit over the second baseman's head that you never would have seen in any of the other games, and it's just a normal line drive. Air friction is simply correct now.

No, this is not a placebo effect. And if you know me you know I am not a Show apologist. I normally roll my eyes at people saying what they say about these kinds of things, because I never feel the same way but I'll sometimes play along. This time I am advocating for how good it feels this year.

Those who are just playing '17 are missing out. This is not the same game, gameplay-wise.

Please Sony don"t mess up hitting with the future patches, it fun again and way more realistic.

And folks, SunTrust Park is fixed in just about every way.

We already know about how the addressed the RCF buildings, but the buildings in LCF are all there, you just can't see them from the batter's view (which is too bad, but perhaps that is accurate in real life, I have no idea). The sun orientation is also correct now, as the sun falls behind the first base line at night. There is also more collision detection in the right field areas for home runs (beyond the Chop House).

My early impressions mentioned that (hitting).. First thing I noticed was how much better that aspect was.

Here is the hit I was talking about:

The way the ball slows up in the air (and with that kind of back spin) simply was not a hit type you could ever have in any version of this game before it.

This hit type has already made for some nice gappers to get those extra-base hits that otherwise would hang up for outs. These have also gone over outfielders' heads.

It's the line drive we've been waiting for, the one that is not going so fast as to scream its way toward wherever it is going. The air drag is nice, really nice.

                        @johnjimmy

At the current moment there is no way to turn off the Show Time graphic at the bottom of the screen even when the options are set to off!

I am hoping it is a bug that will be patched with the first patch! It was noted several times during the stream that you can turn this option off!

If you play RTTS or Player lock with game watch on. Every pitch whether fair or foul is slowed into a matrix effect. It's incredibly draining.

I am hoping that this will have the option to turn off soon!

They may not have been approved in time. Same with some coaching staff. And no they won't be updated.

How do I use the old RTTS close up cam? The new zoomed out cam makes it impossible to see what's going on from 3rd base.
