I simmed ahead to 2020 with the Atlanta Braves, since I had a lot of talented young prospects, and was more interested in playing with them than the current day Braves. Players like Ronald Acuna Jr, Kyle Wright, etc.

Anyways, I've made some moves, because I wanted to do a complete re-build. I traded Freddie Freeman (93) to the Yankees for Gleybar Torress and Dillon Tate. They were struggling to win the AL East, and that move actually catapulted them to win the AL East by 10 games in the end. He hit .355 and had 43 HR's for the year.

I made a few other deals with teams like the Phillies and Rangers. I gave the Phillies one of my top pitching prospects for one of their OF prospects. And I gave the Rangers a pitching prospect for Profar, who was nothing more than a depth piece for them.

But that's now what I'm here to talk about. I may have had the single greatest draft that I'll ever have in this game in the 2018 draft on pure luck. These were my draft picks in the draft.

I'm impressed by your draft picks. Those look like some great picks for the future

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

Hey guys, I have a question that I hope someone here will be able to answer or provide information. Ive run through multiple franchises to get to free agency. And it seems like no matter what team I use, whenever I offer a contract to a top player (Harper, Machado, Goldy) I always get the "Can't afford the contract offered to the current player" pop up. I even went out and purchased extra budgets. Ive noticed that the Pirates sign Harper a lot in my test runs, so i decided to do one with them to test, and i still get that message when trying to sign them. Any help?

Does anyone know if anniversary year sleeve patches stay on or come off after the anniversary year in question in franchise mode?

I want to start an Oakland or SF franchise, but it would bug my OCDness to have the A's forevermore in their 50th anniversary gear.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

I think I'm going to break one of my own rules. Typically I don't do any roster maneuvering until May, unless there is an injury. I don't move players based on performance and I don't do any trades/signings/waiver claims until then because I want to give my guys a month or so to either get out of slumps or come back down to Earth if playing over their head.

                But.....

The Red Sox made a trade in which they acquired Jeff Locke from the Pirates and in doing so they have made a move where they DFA'd a young left handed starting pitcher to make room for Locke. Now we all know that you can always use a quality left handed starting pitcher in your organization. So I think I'm going to try to claim him.

What corresponding move I'll make, I'm not sure, but I really could use another left handed starting pitcher, especially one that has a high potential and is only 23 years of age.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Speaking of complete rebuild, the Mariners are looking really good to me right now. I want to completely tear down that team. Do a fire sale and begin to rebuild their pathetic farm system. I wanna play in that stadium too.

I have been playing a yankees franchise - I generally play about 2/3 of the games. I am currently just after the All Star Break - leading the AL East by 3 games.

Stanton and Sanchez both have 34 Home Runs, Judge has 32. Bird has 9. I havent really hit many other than that ... 5-6 per player.

Really enjoying the broadcast presentation this year.

Just had a wild Opening Day game with Seattle. We got to Kluber early and led 5-1 through 5. Paxton was at 90 pitches, but I felt he could go one more. He gave up a lead-off single to Lindor after a 9-pitch AB so I took him out and brought in Ariel Miranda who closed out the 6th without issue. He didn't look as good in the 7th. He allowed the first 3 batters to reach on singles. I replaced him with James Pazos who gave up a grand slam that tied it at 5...Cruz hit a 2-run homer in the bottom of the 7th to take back a 7-5 lead. I started the 8th with David Phelps who promptly gave up a double and a single. Those two runs came around to tie it again.

It eventually ended on a walk-off single by by Kyle Seager that scored Segura. I wasn't expecting the pen to be a major issue but that didn't go smoothly at all.

Seattle has the worst farm system in baseball according to most sites. I love this team. I could probably win with them right now, but it will be more interesting to blow this thing up. I'm more concerned with restocking the farm than winning a bunch of games with these old guys.
