First series complete for each team. Rockies win the series 2-1 against the Diamondbacks, while the Indians get swept in Seattle.
Injury report: LRP Josh Tomlin for the Indians went down with a fractured wrist in the series finale against Seattle. He will be our 1-2 months. A real bummer!
I decided to recall SP Ryan Merritt from Triple-A Columbus to take Tomlin's spot in the LRP role out of the bullpen.
No injuries as of yet for the Rockies. Injuries (DL stints) thus far already around the league are as follows:
- NYY 2B N. Walker out 1-2 months with a torn finger ligament.
- NYY SS D. Gregorius out 1-2 weeks with a pulled hamstring.
-MIN CF B. Buxton out 1-2 months with a broken hand.
-NYM C K. Plawecki is out 1-2 months with a fractured shin.
Mets already without Catcher Travis d'Arnaud for this season with his tommy john surgery so depth at that position already being tested.
Like I said in my first post, those who are out for season to begin the year irl are also out for the season in my franchise. At least the ones I know about...and a few other prolonged injuries like Bumgarners, which isn't out all season but will miss significant time. Those players like that also started my franchise season on the DL for however long they are expected to miss irl.
What I also do is manage who to call up and down for MLB only injuries. I turn injury management to MLB only to get the notifications for all teams in order to do this.
Sometimes the AI will call up guys that doesn't make sense with the positional player injured.
It's easier just to do it myself and takes no real effort or time to do. Also this way, I feel more engaged and informed within my franchise around the league.
I like knowing who's injured and what guys have been called up etc. That way when I play against them I understand where so and so is and why so and so is in their lineup instead.
