Zack Burdi recorded his 3rd save of the spring by striking out the side in the bottom half.

With Fabregas continuing to play so well (.302 avg 4 HR, 13 RBI) this spring, and ST coming to a close, we made the move to finally relieve some of the crowdedness that we had in the outfield by sending Tommy Pham to the Padres for 2 pitching prospects, both left handed. Pham will most likely get a chance to be an everyday player in San Diego and with any luck, he'll resurrect his career the way Mike Leake did last year when we traded him to the Friars.

This move now guarantees that Fabregas will be on the opening day 25 man roster. He will join Harrison Bader as the 4th/5th outfield spots. This move now means that Oscar Mercado, Nick Martini, and Jeremy Hazelbaker will be the starters in Memphis, and Corey Ray, Nick Plummer, and Jose Adolis Garcia will be the starters in Springfield. The other outfield positions haven't been determined 100% but will include the 4 players being assigned, Randy Arozomena, Eddie Casilla, Scott Hurst, and Dylan Carson.

With this move the only question now for our 25 man roster will be who will be in the bullpen to start the season. John Brebbia, Zack Burdi, Miguel Socolovich, and Jordan Hicks are all battling for that final spot. As of now, our bullpen will be:

    Lefties

    Tyler Lyons
    Sam Freeman
    Dean Kiekhefner

    Righties

    Roberto Osuna
    OPEN SPOT

    Set Up Man

    Jordan Walden

    Closer

    Trevor Rosenthal

    Our line up will be:

    C - Dioner Navarro
    1B - Matt Carpenter
    2B - Kolten Wong
    SS - Paul DeJong
    3B - Patrick Wisdom
    LF - Randal Grichuk
    CF - Magnerius Sierra
    RF - Stephen Piscotty

    C - Francisco Pena
    IF - Greg Garcia
    IF - Aledmys Diaz
    OF - Harrison Bader
    OF - Juan Fabregas

I'm ready to get the regular season going.
Hey CountryBoy - I've always enjoyed your write-ups, and I believe you have been at this Cards franchise awhile playing with default sliders @ HOF level (meter and zone). You should consider streaming some of your games for others to view. I am probably not the only one interested in seeing how you play the game.

I appreciate the feedback Dowie. I've actually moved up to Legend this year.

I have one game that I recorded and uploaded to one of the threads on here, but that's it. I'm not a tech savvy person and I've never really given much thought to streaming my games.

I guess I could always try and see how it goes, as soon as I learn how to do it all...LOL

Legend huh? I've messed around a little bit with it, and though hitting felt right, pitching did not. My experience (default sliders) was the cpu not swinging and missing nearly enough, and far too many rallies where they would string together incredible at bats leading to 4, 5, 6 , 7 straight batters reaching base.

I feel like I am a good to above avg player, but Legend was a real struggle from a "sim experience" perspective. Anyways, just my 2 cents, glad it's working for you!

Sorry to butt in on your thread but can someone tell me why I can't post a question? I just joined and it says I can't post a question because I don't have access. My account was verified.

Thanks for the help, I'm new to PS4 and MLB The Show 18. When I go into game settings and set my hitting and pitching options it seems that I have to keep going in and resetting them.

Once they are set unless I change them are they supposed to stay the way I set them for all game modes? Also, I noticed that some settings are locked and I am not sure why ??

Not to ask what may be a silly question, are you saving your settings after applying them?

Are you loading the same profile for your games that you're changing the settings for? On the team select screen before a game, make sure the profile on the controller icon is the right one (the same one that shows in the upper left corner of the settings screen).

I only have one Profile so I assume all settings are made to that profile. The options that are locked is confusing me as well.

Since I am new to gaming, in general, I have a lot to learn. I watch as many tutorials on YouTube as I can but most are on different parts of the game. I have yet to find a tutorial that takes someone from the beginning through the game.

Once again I appreciate that I have been able to use this thread to get my question asked and at the same time I am working my way to the point so that I can start my own threads.

No worries, this throws a lot more people than you might think and is a somewhat common question especially around a game launch when people are trying the game for the first time. Here's what you need to check:

So, you have your settings screen that will look like this:

See "Normal" up in the upper left? That's my main profile that I use for playing offline. I created a new one from the Experienced template and re-named it to Normal so I'd know which one I'm using (creating a bunch of profiles and them being named "Experienced 1, 2, 3" etc. gets just a bit confusing ). You can re-name a profile to whatever to want.

When I want to start a game with these settings, I need to make sure I'm loading that profile. So, my team select screen before the game starts needs to look like this:

If "Normal" isn't shown below the controller icon, I have to scroll through my profiles with the R stick to select the right one. Once I've done that, the right settings will be loaded.

If you're playing Road to the Show or Diamond Dynasty, this won't work. Those two modes only use one profile - whichever one you've designated as your "default" profile. When you make settings changes to a profile, the game will prompt you if you want to use that profile as your default. If you select that option, then those will be your new settings for RTTS and Diamond Dynasty.

                        Hope that helps!

Thanks so much that will help a lot. I haven't even though about playing online yet, I want to get comfortable with what I am doing offline.

                          Thanks again !!

                            2020 Spring Training Preview

                            Depth Charts

                            Starting Pitchers
                            RHP Luis Castillo
                            LHP Gio Gonzalez
                            RHP Mike Soroka
                            LHP Luiz Gohara
                            RHP Matt Wisler
                            LHP Kolby Allard

Castillo and Gonzalez are cemented as my 1-2 punch as I worked hard to bring them in this offseason. Soroka was my best pitcher last year and Gohara was a horse with mixed results. Wisler and Allard will battle it out for the 5th spot. Wisler doesn't quite have the ceiling that some of my other young guys have but he stuck in the majors all year in 2019 and was mostly dependable, though he really only has the stamina for 5-6 innings at most.

                            Relievers
                            RHP Liam Hendriks
                            RHP Edubray Ramos
                            LHP Taylor Rogers
                            RHP Tony Zych
                            RHP Bryan Shaw
                            LHP Mike Montgomery
                            RHP Mike Foltynewicz
                            LHP Sean Newcomb
                            LHP A.J. Minter

Made the decision to switch Newcomb to a reliever track. He has a lot of potential still but just doesn't have the command to be successful as a starter after two very rough seasons. Hopefully he can find it as a power lefty out of the pen.

                            Johan Camargo

                            Left Field
                            Marwin Gonzalez
                            Dustin Peterson
                            Michael Gettys

                            Center Field
                            Ender Inciarte
                            Ezequiel Carrera

                            Right Field
                            Ronald Acuna
                            Justin Williams

My starters should pretty much be set around the field. I'm not super confident in my backup infielder situation, between Camargo and Herrera who can't hit much and Demeritte who can't play short. I think ideally I'd like to see Williams or Peterson win the starting LF job so I can use Marwin as a roaming utility guy all around the field, which should take the pressure off the rest of my bench. They will have to earn it though. Top prospect Dave Ulrich gets the invite to camp. He was my first round pick in 2018 and has a legit MLB bat, but minimal defense and is limited to first base. Still could win the job as a primary pinch hitter.

Probably going to quick manage through spring entirely. I’ve gotten through these first two seasons fairly quickly, but I really enjoy keeping up the pace and want to keep this going for a few more seasons.

                            Top Prospects
1 - RHP Henry Tejera - 1st round pick in 2019 - will start the year as the AAA closer and has the ceiling of an elite power reliever.

2 - OF Chris Sanchez - 19-year old with franchise cornerstone potential, but likely needs another year in single-A.

3 - RHP Kyle Wright - Pitched to an ERA near 7 in a brief MLB debut last season. He's in camp but won't be part of my spring rotation and is a long shot to make the team as he likely is headed back to AAA to start the year.

4 - RHP Ian Anderson - The last of my stud pitching prospects to reach the majors, could be this season. Slated for AAA.

5 - 1B Dave Ulrich - Switch hitter with MLB-ready bat. Blocked by Freddie Freeman but has too much power potential to not see what he has in spring.

6 - OF Justin Williams - 2019 organizational player of the year - made his debut in September call ups and has a chance to win a starting job in spring training.

7 - C Alex Sanchez - Batted over .330 in AA last season but missed time with a torn hamstring and head contusion. Has serious helium and is knocking on the door of the majors.

8 - RHP Touki Toussaint - Has spent two straight years in AA and should finally get a chance to pitch in Gwinnett after being blocked by my higher prospects. Still 23 years old.

9 - OF Eric Sasaki - Speedy outfielder with a decent bat. 2nd round pick in 2019 likely starting the year in single-A.

10 - RHP Richard Torres - 18-year old late-round steal from the 2019 draft. Has the ceiling of a #2 starter but will need several years on the farm.

                              Hope that helps!
when I am at the game screen like you show above and I scroll with my right stick all I have is beginner or experienced. I have no option to select my profile name????
Something in my settings has to be worng?

When you are on this screen, with L1 R1 at the top, where the profile for my User-Controlled team is (WINNERS), how many different profiles do you see when you cycle through with L1/R1?

These should be the same profiles that show up under the controller on the Team Select screen. I am thinking you need to save and name a new profile?
