Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

We were swept by the Cubs and our losing streak now stands at 4 games. We trail the Cubs by a game in the division. Poor way to close out April and begin May. Injuries have plagued us and continue to cause issues as Grichuk and Lynn had to leave the last game with injuries, though neither is expected to hit the DL.

We had our first trade of the season as the Braves acquired Marashiro Tanaka from the Yankees for 3 prospects. The Yankees, and Red Sox for that matter, are struggling big time early in the season. The Yankees just can't get going and the BoSox are effected by injuries.

The Braves were 4 games under .500 after April but only 4 games out of first in the East so they clearly have enough time to turn things around and get into first place.

We head to Flushing, NY to face the Mets in a 4 game series. Then its 3 in Pittsburgh followed by 2 in Cleveland as we take a 9 game road trip in 10 days. Hopefully we can get things back on track and get healthy.

Amazing game today vs the Nats. Nats take a 4-1 lead in the 6th after a Bryce Harper jack. Cubbies are scoreboard watching and the Cards are dow 4-0 to the Tigers. In the 8th, Rizzo hits solo HR 62 on the year, game is 4-2. One out in the 9th with one on and Soler hits a wall scrapper that was almost robbed to make the game 4-4. Top of the 10th we get ducks on the pond and are able to drive in 3 runs to make the game 7-4. Bottom tenth, one on and no outs, Harper comes up and hits a monster homer off our closer Coronado. Here we go again..... another runner gets on but we are able to close the door and win 7-6.

Cards lose and we're tied for first place again with 21 games to go. And we finish the season with a 3 game set vs the cards.

Have you checked the durability of your players? They probably all have really high durability which is tied to the injury rate. So that's prob your not having any injuries

22 Inning Affair in the 3rd game of a 4 game set in St Louis. The Phillies or Cardinals didn’t score from innings 5 to 21 LOL.

Bottom of the 22nd Inning with 2 outs and a guy on 2nd, I had to dive with Rhys Hoskins to make a game saving play and the ball hit off him to end the game.

2 hours and 45 minutes in real time. It’s 1:55 am and my alarm is going off in 5 hours and I was not expecting this so Good Night!

Question: what year are you and wild goose on? I've noticed a bug with injuries based on OS testimony, but I need more info before I can confirm it.

It seems that players who are in year 1 of their franchise are having issues getting injuries, even with the injury slider cranked up. However, those with a carry over, or those that have already played past year one seem to have no issues getting injuries.

Does this line up with your two's experience?

I'm in year 2020 which would be the 5th year of my carryover franchise from '16.

Year 2019, my first year on '18, I had injuries, but nothing like what I'm experiencing right now in terms of volume over a month's time. My injuries in '19 (first year) fell in line with what I experienced while playing '16 (I didn't play '17)

We took the first two from the Mets in New York winning the series opener 3-1 and then coming from behind to win the second game 4-3 thanks to Oscar Mercado's 3 run homer in the 8th. But once again, we paid a price for winning as Stephen Piscotty leaped against the wall to make a catch and ended up with a shoulder tear and will miss 1-2 months. Just as Juan Fabregas was about to come back and we get healthy again at the MLB level, we suffer another setback. So Fabregas will essentially just replace Piscotty.

This stinks as well as Piscotty has been our best hitter with his average at .310 with 5 homers and 14 RBI in the #2 spot.

Next up is game 3 of the 4 game set with Michael Wacha set to face Thor.

Could be true. I've played a bunch of different franchises in 18, and didn't seem to have a lot of injuries, but I simmed my Jays one through to 19, and now, playing every game, I've got 5 or 6 guys out for a month or more. Obviously not a large sample size, but it makes some sense to me.

I'm in 2028 and have just 1 DL player at the major league level (Kane) now that Craft has returned.

This is in my year 14 carryover from MLB14.

I don't know how/if that lines up with any theories being tested about injuries and carryovers.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

The stress box pennate continues. My Cubs are in a dead heat with the Cardinals with 21 games to go. Today we face the Nats on the road Matt Moore Vs Ian Kennedy.

We're score board watching, Cards jump out over the Tigers 4-1 early and cruse to a 8-5 win. Meanwhile in Washington the game is a complete pitchers dual. Both pitchers exit after 8 innings in a scoreless game. Moore hurled 10 strikeouts. It's looking like extra innings on back to back nights.

Cubs do nothing in the 9th. Washington gets the bases load but Chicago is able to tightrope out of the inning.

Top of the 10th. Rendon leads off and hits a weak liner over the 2nd basemans head for a single. Next up is Rizzo with his 62 HR's on the year. Rendon gets to 2nd on a past ball. Rizzo hits a deep sac to get Rendon to 3rd. AJ Pollock is up next an hits a sac to score Rendon. Cubs lead 1-0.

Bottom 10th, it's the who knows what will happen Derek Coronado show. Nats get a single. Pinch run a 99 speed guy. We hit the next batter (I went to peek at runner on first and hit the wrong button. Then panicked on the meter.) We get the next batter out but then a walk is issued. Now the bases are loaded with one out. Should we pull Coronado? Next pitch is deep to left but hooks foul. Okay, he is out, Rex Brothers was ready in the pen. Eh lefty in a righty match up. Next two pitches are strikes, I forgot about the foul ball to my relief. 2 outs bases loaded and we get a lefty/lefty match. Ground ball to Castro, he took his time and gets the runner out by a step. Rizzo did that stretch/falling animation to add drop. I don't see that one often. Too stressful but we win 1-0 in 10 innings.

Tied with St.L at 86-56 for 1st place.

Ugh ... my son deleted my show season, he thought he was deleting an old save from last year's Show.
I guess i'm glad i was only 14 games in, and not 114. haha.

Gonna do a Reds season. I've done seasons in petco park for the last few Shows, so gonna mix it up.

If i start to lose pace in the central division, I'll look to trade Votto while his worth is still fairly high ... looking at the roster I don't think i can get a quality arm or two for the rotation and pen and still keep Joey.

Maybe I'll look into a young arm and Gallo package from Texas. Either way, it'll be fun to build a different team.

Ouch, 14 games isn’t so bad. Reminds me to back up my season save in the cloud. I would legit cry if I lost my 4 year carry over save.

I once was trying to delete and old Xbox profile and ended up deleting an 8 season NCAA 2K8 save I was very actively playing. That was my worst lost save ever.

I’m on year 4 of a carry over save but year 1 on 18. I think I’ve had 2, 1-6 day injuries all season.

There's not a ton across the league, though.

I think the most ML level DL injuries is 3 on a squad and total is like 5 across the organization.

                                Which is ridiculously low, imo.
