My thanks to those who helped me to locate update info in the game.

I can't describe it, but some 'feels' different about the hitting now other than the pitch speed bump up. It might be the PCI range increase, I don't know. But it doesn't feel as smooth to me. Not a big deal, just a subtle thing that I noticed.

I just played my first game after the 1.05 update and it seems a lot of (all?) players have a lazy right eye. Their left eye seems on center but their right eye is much closer to their noses. I noticed it with my catcher while pitching but then started noticing batters with the same issue. Has anyone experienced this? I didn’t have this issue before this update (I would have noticed).

I apologize if it's already been mentioned somewhere, but have the Devs acknowledged the issue with with players that wear stance socks with throwback uniforms?

As much as Ive complained about analog pitching I must say hitting feels perfect after the latest patch. Best it’s felt in years imo, I actually strikeout now and it’s beautiful !

I figured the Sort button issue would be an easy fix. Maybe next patch.

Some thoughts on the post-patch hitting after dabbling in my RTTS and some other stuff (everything below is dealing with HOF difficulty or its RTTS equivalent):

I believe the physics are still in, and working fine. But I do feel the hitting itself has changed slightly, which is only natural because the pitch speed has been raised. Less time to make a swing decision and execute it means a higher chance of weaker contact. This hits lower rated players harder than it does higher ones - my AA 2B/LF for example. I do feel like I've lost some of the power stroke that I had before the patch (he's 33L/29R power so I don't expect much, but I could hit homeruns if I pulled, I have 5 of them). Now, in the RTTS mode's batting practice it doesn't seem like I have that kind of swing anymore.

With that said....the top end can still slug just fine. I hit a 115 MPH bomb out of Wrigley with Bryant in practice, along with several other tape-measure shots. Guys like Baez, Schwarber and Zobrist didn't have any trouble either. Even managed to hit one with Albert Almora, who hit 8 HR in real life last year.

The relationship between contact rating and swing timing might be the factor here - lower rated contact guys aren't going to be able to put their full power potential behind the ball unless they square it up absolutely perfect. And now with the pitch speed brought up it has become tougher to find that perfect timing. That's why I believe my RTTS guy's power stroke may have left him. He still has gap double power for sure (and as such I can still increase my power rating).

If you want to experiment with some ways to open that contact window back up, try the pitch speed sliders (as I do believe that's really the only thing that was changed, although it has a strong butterfly effect on the user) or the timing slider.

I'll keep an eye on my RTTS guy's performance compared to what I do in the other modes.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Patch 1.05 Available Now, Patch Notes Included

I'm gonna take back some of what I just said after seeing this:

                    <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/PEwXGJS4NSc?rel=0&amp;showinfo=0" frameborder="0" allow="autoplay; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen></iframe>

That's a 390 foot power alley HR in pretty much any normal ballpark (this BP one is enormous). That is probably pretty close to my guy's maximum power potential. The power's still there, even for a guy with no power like this. It might not be as frequent, but it's definitely still possible.

Also - yes, it's the bat control BP game, not an actual game situation - but this is the same mode where I came to the earlier conclusion about the hitting, and the approach I can take here is very similar to what I do in a real game when i want to hit for power - sit on a location and drive anything that looks like it's headed there. The only difference is that I KNOW a pitch is headed there.

Also, I don't know for anybody else, but to me even the frame rate seems a bit smoother as well. Could be just me though

I noticed this prepatch as well. I'm not sure if it is a glitch or what. I noticed with the Reds that in game the mask is black but if you go to edit player it is the correct color. I can't say much for any other team though.

Hopefully it gets fixed. I hadn’t looked in the edit player screen to notice but if that’s the case, it’s definitely a bug.

                            @Bcruise

Do you think the previous hitting feedback can be achieved by lowering pitch speed to what you were used to pre-patch?

I've read a ton of feedback how good hitting is, its worrisome if that's changed even slightly.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.
