Re: MLB The Show 18 Patch 1.08 Available Now, Patch Notes Included
Re: New Patch 1.08 5/1 @ 3 AM PST
Gameplay Improvements and Stabilizations:
-Adjustments made to the Plate Coverage Indicator
-Increased pitch speeds within Diamond Dynasty (both Head to Head and versus CPU games)
-Fix for a rare occurrence where the outfielder would not play a catch (or run over the ball) on firmly hit ground balls that get through the infield.
-Adjustments made to allow more user control for infielders on soft line drives just over their head. This allows users to break out and run for the ball, when they sometimes felt locked in.
-Fix for a rare issue where the catcher would come out of his cover position (covering home), not allowing branching throws to the plate when a runner is attempting to score.
Miscellaneous:
-Fixes for various low frequency consumer reported crashes
-Several UI and art adjustments to add polish
-Various other minor bug fixes and adjustments made throughout the game
My takeaway - definitely some good fixes in there. Like that the pitch speed is only changing for DD, and I'm sure people who locked in offline gameplay settings will as well. We'll see if/how much the PCI changes affect offline.
The thing about soft line drives is very welcome, as that's a legacy problem that goes back to at least last year. Hope they really squashed it this time.
No specific mention of the franchise offseason stuff fix, though they mentioned "several bug fixes throughout the game." I'm sure we'll be able to figure out if that was fixed soon enough.

Reason: minimal typos...not bad for how fast I pecked that out

This is the best improvement in the patch notes for me personally. This has been a frustration for some time in the series and I am hopeful that they were able "fix" it with this patch. Nothing more frustrating that seeing a ball that falls just over an infielders head and he doesn't even react.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Are pitch speed changes DD only? I know we have sliders offline, and I'd at least be curious to hear from the devs about the equivalent slider values if the changes aren't in offline as well.

Just started a conquest game and the pitch speed has jumped through the roof. Even sliders are being thrown harder than fastballs were pre-patch. Should make a big difference online and let the monitor crowd happy. Not crazy about them putting this in the offline DD as well as the online tbh. Some of us are old and don't see like we used to, so I don't really get why we can't set our own pitch speed in offline DD?
Spotted some new card art on Hoskins and Hader, but not any on Devers, so not sure how deep they've gone there. Not exactly a crucial thing that needing patching, it was more just bizarre that they hadn't added these before releasing the game.
No mention of fixing the franchise bug, which is a concern, but the patch notes seem to be pretty heavily aimed at DD so it could well have been fixed in the annoyingly vague "various minor fixes" description they always throw in there. Kind of feels like the sort of thing you might want to announce that you'd fixed though

This worries me. Like I said earlier, I'm a few teams away from beating extreme, and with drastic changes to pitch speed it could change what I'm used to enough to cause me to lose hours upon hours of game play.
