    Play on.
It's not about winning or anything.

Honestly its growing tired of being accused of "white knighting" for the game simply because I state that I don't see some of the issues that others are seeing, which I don't.

I thought that if I put out a full game's worth of video (minus the first two innings due to my error) then maybe people will understand why I'm stating that I'm not seeing issues, which is because I'm not.

I wanted to ask, how do your strikeouts look on default legend? That's about the only reason I dropped CPU contact 2 clicks - because I couldn't strike anyone out. They just seemed to hit most everything on corners (even pitchers which was especially frustrating). I get plenty of swings and misses with contact down 2 clicks though - feels really balanced.

Since we're sharing, here's a stream of some gameplay I did about a week ago on my Twitch stream (2 games in around 4 hours). Quality's not great because I have a max of 2 mbps upload (which is obscenely low these days) but I think it's still watchable. I posted a specific section of this in regards to stealing some time back but this is the whole thing. Also I have the mic on and I'm talking a lot about what I'm thinking in certain situations all throughout, as well as my hitting/pitching approaches. It's not without its warts either - early on I made a bit of a mess of one of those floating line drives where they gave us control in a recent patch instead of just freezing the fielder in place - I'm not used to having control of that yet so I kinda butchered it. That's partly on the game and partly on me. I'm posting this for the good and the bad for people to take as it is.

      Spoiler
Strikeouts for me are good, as I actually lead the majors in strikeouts with 839 thru 91 games I think it is.

Pitching can be tough at times on Legend there is no doubt, but I try to utilize the pitcher/batter analysis as much as possible, especially if I'm unsure of how I've pitched a particular hitter. Sometimes I'll remember the game plan I've had for a hitter and not look (as you can see in vids) or I'll remember after looking at last AB pitch sequence.

I'm a nerd and I'll actually use a notebook to write down gameplan for attacking hitters before a series/game.

Nice. I do use the batter/pitcher analysis (though usually at the end of games to check a few specific things) - but I don't check it much in-game. Might look into trying that to find patterns and bump contact up.

Same here. I usually try to feel it as I go, play off the response I'm getting from the hitters. "The hitters will tell you what kind of stuff you have and what they can and can't see" sort of thing.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Patch 1.10 Available, Patch Notes Here

My issues are purely hitting. In the last 3 patches my hitting has devolved so much I have been forced down to Veteran via dynamic difficulty. In the last 20 games I have lost each and every game. I average barely 2 runs per game, 4-5 hits per game and since I am so low in skill level I never strike out.

Edit: I haven't seen too many fielding issues aside from the odd weird reaction/route here or there. Nothing out of the ordinary. As far as seeing the opposing tems field improperly - lol...I hit balls directly at their glove. Literally.

All of my contact is either weak, a laser beam directly into a fielder's glove, garbage singles and every second or third game a homerun that couldn't matter less because it's the 8th inning and I'm down by 5. I ground into double plays like clockwork. The opposing pitcher pitches with complete impunity. Hanging curve, literally right in the heart of the plate. Swing time good, contact result weak. Pop up over home plate.

Directional hitting is pure garbage for me now. Prior to the last few patches I was having a lot of fun. I was on legend, getting struck out 9 times a game, getting anywhere from 6-10 legit hits per game. Homers, even the odd triple (something I haven't seen in the last 20 games), doubles...you name it. Now it feels no different than 17 all over again.

I'm not exaggerating at all. I have lost 20 in a row. I can't hit at all. I have done everything possible, but when it says swing time good and it's an out or a whiff on every pitch thrown, I'm at a total loss.

I realize that my statement isn't all that original, or helpful/constructive, but I'm not wrong. Both of you guys, whom I have no issue with at all, especially since you're both intelligent and helpful, tend to have nothing but good things to say. Which I fully understand since you're both having great experiences. It's discrediting other people's negative experiences that gets people to say things like I just did. I'd never accuse Countryboy of the latter however, as I have seen him have discussions with people. You I just see say things like "Nope. Best year yet. Playing like a dream."

Anyway, I know you're having a great experience, and I hope it continues. But I am not imagining losing all of these games. I truly wish I could use your sliders and get some wins, but I'm legitimately struggling and as far as I can tell it's patch related. Unscientific results, I know, but it's all I got.

Ok...you're using Dynamic Difficulty. Have you tried turning it off and playing on a set level? Maybe try playing on just Veteran and see if anything changes.

Or maybe try your luck with Zone hitting to see if that helps?

I wouldn't think that something happened in the patch to mess up dynamic difficulty but maybe it did???

                          Worth a shot maybe

I think it's fair that people who only have glowingly positive things to say about the game get a reputation as a "white knight." I think it's fair that people who only have unfairly negative things to say about the game get a reputation as a "naysayer."

I think it's incumbent upon everyone who visits these forums to choose whom they'd rather believe about certain issues, whether those issues exist or not, how severe and problematic any issues are, and what best fits their gaming experience. Much credit to the guys who provide legitimate data/screenshots/videos when discussing their issues and view on the issues. And to those who begin an argument from a place of wanting to figure something out rather than a position of knowing their answer already.

To the guys who are too positive or too negative, you only have yourselves to blame when you are accused of being too positive or too negative. It's a reputation you earn over the course of years and hundreds of posts. People have a long memory for that sort of thing.

TBH I hate this line of thinking. We all play the game, we all have our own opinions on it. We all have things we like and dislike about it. We don't need to be lumped into groups that make it easier for people to rationalize their own opinions (by demeaning the other "group").

Not to mention these labels get applied incorrectly and unfairly. CB sat out most (all?) of '17 and still somehow got accused of white-knighting it. Armor, for those of you who don't know, streams practically every day and is never shy to point out when something wonky happens live in his games. He likes the game, obviously, but he's not afraid to point out the issues he experiences.

I absolutely HATE the labeling that goes on, not only in this sub-forum, but ALL of OS. It's such a cheap way of trying to make an argument.

                              My two cents.

I don't take any of the blame for being "too positive" about the game, or a fanboy, or white knight, or whatever in the hell people want to label me. It's almost getting to the point where you can't like the game on the forums anymore. If you do then you're this or that.

No I haven't seen some of the issues that people have experienced in the game. Why? I don't know, but I haven't. But apparently saying that is wrong because doing so means I'm defending the game or too positive? Why is it ok to post an issue that you're having with the game but not post that you're not experiencing the issue???

If I didn't like the game, I would do like I did last year, share what I didn't like and move on and play something else. But there are some for whatever reason that feel the need to continue to only post negative stuff and seemingly only show up in threads when there is an opportunity to post negative stuff or agree with negative posts that have been written.

I like the game this year. I think it is by far the best baseball video game that I've played. Does it have its faults? Yes it does, but why would I want to continue to post and focus only on the negative when there is so much about the game that I like?
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(
