I bought 2018 but decided to just keep playing 2017 until the 18 Hybrid Rosters came out. I’ve also stayed away from the bitchy threads this year as well which really makes the game much more enjoyable.

I’m having a blast with the game. Also I don’t really find the forum to be that “toxic”, but I guess it affects different people in different ways. I’ve found OS to be one of the more friendly game communities I’ve personally been a part of. Sure, there are some garbage posts here and there, but that's just part of the internet, and it's much less than I've seen on other forums.
Cheers to all the dudes who post quality stuff.Last edited by jeffy777; 06-01-2018, 12:30 AM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Patch 1.10 Available, Patch Notes Here
Yeah same for me, especially with guys like Gallo who swing and miss a lot. Getting a lot of choppers on breaking balls low in the zone which is also nice to see.
I've noticed a lot fewer doubles though, the CPU defense seems to run anything down in the gaps. On the flipside it seemed like I got too many doubles before but just seems like they went a little too far the other way. Anyone else noticed this?
I'm on default All Star hitting and the game is playing really well on the hitting side of things. (just could use a few more doubles) There's still some areas defense wise that need some attention but the game is feeling pretty good right now for me.
I thought the same on doubles as well. Still seeing them but seemed to be much less frequent. Last game I hit 5 and a triple so it could just be one of those things. I need a larger sample size to come to a conclusion.
Playing HOF zone largely default with some minor tweaks.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Patch 1.10 Available, Patch Notes Here
So I played a couple of games with the power on 6 and I didn’t like how the ball was playing.....It seemed like some of the singles I was getting turned into line drive outs in the outfield, plus I still didn’t hit or give up a homerun during those 2 games. Begby was right, so I turned it back down to 5.
So now the Paul Harvey, I was reading somewhere about how KB had upped the base runner speed and fielders arm strength and was getting good results and decided to try it as the base runner speed always seemed a bit off to me and it might reduce some of the double plays on both sides. When I went in to change those sliders I noticed that my starter stamina was at 5.....a couple of weeks ago, I went in and upped the stamina to 6 because I thought it was to low.......now for the senior moment, I got to looking and I guess I upped the pitcher control instead of the stamina on both human and cpu. I dropped it back to 5, put the stamina on 6 and played 3 games last night. I hit 4 homeruns and gave up 3 homeruns in those 3 games.
So....my question is, could the pitcher control being on 6 have reduced the hitting or was I and the AI just having a power outage ?Comment

Re: MLB The Show 18 Patch 1.10 Available, Patch Notes Here
It definitely could have. Control affects how well the pitcher is able to locate, which usually directly impacts the number of mistake pitches you'll see. Since mistake pitches that hang over the plate are often the ones that get hit hard, it's not surprising at all that you'd see less hard hit balls when pitchers are able to hit their corner/just off the plate spots more often.Comment

Well, read the description for the pitch control slider in-game. It basically recommends turning down contact when you turn down pitch control. So yeah, they play hand-in-hand. In fact, pitch control is one of the first places I go to when I want to increase/decrease offense once I have my Solid Hits slider locked-in.Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.Comment

Not saying 6 is better. Just saying Power slider is not a "HR slider".
It can have that effect, yes. It doesn't directly impact HR or power, but it impacts quality of contact or even if there's contact at all.
It's definitely a significant factor.
This is especially true if you play on any interface where you don't control the PCI. Control is a heavy factor in the "die roll" that governs your hitter's PCI placement accuracy...which, in turn, influences many other factors to hitting.
That makes it a slider to consider for sure if you're playing Directional (and I think Analog?) as it helps play into the overall balance/feel/production of hitting."Some people call it butterflies, but to him, it probably feels like pterodactyls in his stomach." --Plesac in MLB18Comment
