Really makes me happy that Mike is finally enjoying The Show. This man poured a lot of time and effort into making MLB 2K games playable. He also did a ton of great work on NBA 2K11; heck he was STILL tweaking sliders for that game a few months ago.

A great asset to our OS community, and could, if interested, be a guy The Show roster makers reach out to for help and/or advice.

This thread made me shelve 17 and pull the trigger on 18 and I'm damn glad I did. Played the season opener with the Rockies and lost 3-2 but it felt like legitimate baseball. The presentation combined with the new animations/physics make the game feel like a sizeable leap - much bigger than expected. Loving it.

I agree this is the first baseball title that I have played multiple times everyday since launch and it's just as fresh today as the day I got it. I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this years title.

After 250 games (actually 271 games but 250 sounds better ), MLB The Show '18 feels as new as it did on launch day. I play this game daily, well almost daily sometimes life interrupts, and after over 250 games played and 5 months since launch, I have yet to become bored with the MLBTS '18. The game simply captures baseball. This is the most authentic baseball game that I've ever played and it is the best sports game overall that I've ever played. In fairness to other sports titles, MLB is the only one on next gen that I play.

Are there shortcomings and bumps in the road? Sure...every game has them. But for me, the good far outweighs the bad in MLB '18. There are things that I hope are fixed/tweaked/added for '19 and beyond, but what '18 offers, to me is an amazing simulation of my favorite sport.

Every single game that I've played, and I truly mean this, has felt different and to be its own game. Nothing feels "repeated" nor scripted. Every single game, every single inning, every single AB, every single pitch feels organic.

I've seen my share of nail biters, blowouts, unbelievable comebacks, and unthinkable collapses. I've seen some "oh my did he just make that play!!!? and "oh my how in the hell did he botch that play?! I've seen pitchers who could tell a hitter what was coming and the hitter would still miss, and I've seen pitchers who would have better success sitting the ball on a tee for the hitter. I've seen bombs that not only did I wonder if they would stay within the park, but also would they stay within the area code. I've seen cans of corn, pop ups, seeing eyed singles, bloopers, frozen ropes down the line, and line drives that nobody in their right mind would try to catch for fear of injury.

I've seen baseball. I've seen in the MLB '18 what I see on TV. I've played in MLB '18 what I've played in my days of playing the game.

SDS gets a lot of flack for the bugs, glitches, and shortcomings in the game. They got a lot of flack for the removal of online franchise and season mode. And all deservedly so. We should point out the negatives and issues, as that is how we get an even better game in '19. And no one should lose a favorite mode, especially without it being mentioned up front, from the beginning.

But they should also receive praise for just how good MLB '18 is, for how well it captures the sport both on the field and off.

        250 games played....and I can't wait to play 250 more.

Kudos SDS.... to a job well done.

Dan, you are way too kind... Thank you. I'm just glad I found this site many years ago and was able to contribute here in some way. I put my slider set here this afternoon. People will probably look at them and laugh (or mock). But after spending a TON of time playing this game, I have a set that I absolutely love. They look nothing like the other sets here, but that's the beauty of many different types of gaming styles & abilities. I really appreciate the community here at OS and all the gamers who have a passion for this stuff. I wondered 1) am I alone in this kind of thing, and 2) am I the only guy who wakes up and some of my first thoughts are how I might adjust a couple sliders to see how something might work better???

I think we're all a bit "sick" here.

250 or 271. Whatever it is, that’s so impressive! Kudos to you CB! I also have thoroughly enjoyed the title this year. It’s been a blast! I was curious regarding you playing on default legend... a couple of questions if you don’t mind

            1.) Zone or directional hitting?
2.) PCI on or off and what reticle?
3.) Meter, pluse or analog pitching?
4.) Fielding auto or manual and throwing mechanic?

Are there any sliders I can use to make my franchise have more of a baseball sim style authencity??

Sorry I don't use sliders, but would recommend these:

Seriously, though, I am completely hooked on MLB The Show 18. I remember picking up my PS4 Pro and pre-ordering this game. Outside of a couple of vacations and a few crazy days at work, I've played this game every day since launch.

Quick Counts are a blessing for me, as I can issue/draw more walks and helps me get through games just a little faster. The different presentation options are nice, and I use them all during Franchise mode.

Speaking of Franchise, I made it through all 162 games in my Mets franchise. Won over 100 games and wound up losing in 4 games to the Cardinals in the NLDS. My first-ever postseason experience in The Show wasn't a memorable one, lol. I'm 10 games into the 2019 season and as I sit here at work on my lunch break, I'm counting down the time till I get home and can dive back into my fantasy baseball world.

I should also mention that I love not feeling like I have to touch the sliders. I have been running on default across the board since early April (had only adjusted pitch speed prior) and don't see that changing soon.

You also owe it to yourself to experience this game on a 4K TV setup with a PS4 Pro.

My Rockies are 4-10 to start the season and it's infuriating. I've made some questionable bullpen decisions that blew leads and lead to losses (putting Oh in against lefties = bad time for the boys in blue), squandered so many chances with runners in scoring position, and started prospects over safe veterans to give them experience which hasn't panned out. Each one of our losses could've ended in a win, but ugh.

Honestly though, this is the most fun/most invested in a sports game (outside of possibly OOTP) that I've ever been and I love it. I've blown huge leads and made a few big comebacks and it's been such a joy to play. I never feel cheated when my SP craps the bed because that's baseball. It's beautifully heartbreaking. I do understand the frustration and how it leads to the always endearing "comeback code™!!!" mantra because you're spending a bunch of time in these games and if you do things right, you feel like you've earned a win and it's infuriating when it doesn't play out that way. This is why I love the show, though. You can be a guru on the sticks, but struggle to play over .500 if your team is trash. This is what sets it apart from every other sports game on the market. That's sim.

Totally agree. I was talking to my brother about this the other day. No two games feel alike. I mean down to how you need to pick the ball up from a left handed pitcher during your first two AB but by the time your third AB comes around the sun has passed to a point where you can see the pitcher’s release point better. I’ve played 2 and a half seasons and both times I won 100 plus games but lost in the playoffs to Cleveland and Houston. (I play with the yankees). The more you play the more you realize how good this game can be. I havent played madden since 2010 And I took NBA 2k18 off due to all the problems it had. But I cannot think of another sports video game that I’ve enjoy more than the show 18
