I think they are kinda missing the point of franchise mode and why people like it so much.

Most people don't play all 162, that's not the point. It is about building something, developing prospects. I often sim a couple years at first to play with my own guys.

Would like to see different season lengths options as well. Back in the day Triple Play franchise with 72 game schedule was a blast. Much easier to play a whole season.

I agree. With year to year saves I hoped there would be more of a focus on league dynamics in future years.

Teams not signing quality free agents, prospects not developing, rule 5 draft, the draft itself, and simmed stats....

All things I hoped would be more a focus as more people played deeper.

I hoped with last year critical moments and a way to quickly get through multiple seasons would help attention be devoted to improving those logic decisions.

SDS used to be great about adding things without taking away but those days seem long gone sadly.

Their neglect of franchise mode this year has really hurt their diehard fan base more than they know, considering many of the roster creators are so turned off they’ve decided to throw in the towel.

Come back to us SDS of old, we miss you!

I think it was 14. I do know the time between pitches was reduced in 14 because i remember feeling rushed after playing on slow in 13 and being able to get at least 2 practice swings in. 14 also removed longer walk ups, which sucks for when SoTS returned in 16.

I keep it on, i don't mind the commentary, i think it took a few steps in the right direction in 18. But i do think plesac and derosa are a bit to similar in com style, like E.K and S.L were before.

Like the osd's i just want more of the dynamic statistical type comments more often and with more variety to the stats/topics commented on. Maybe heidi will improve this area if her comments use stats pulled from the game like kirby mentions and not just generic lines.
I like the bits of info matt gives about a player like how he was drafted in the first round ect., it's the follow up "Everybody knows his name and kids are buying his jersey" lines that get really annoying to me and it's not because of what's said it's because it's the same damn line everytime.
Be good if there was a handful or so of different responses ,that basically convey the same message, that could be used in most situations.

I can remember a time back in PS2 days were devs of sports games who actually played franchise mode themselves would have a ton of small additions and features they’d stay behind at the end of the day and code themselves, their motivation being that THEY wanted to have those features in the game and were in a position to do so and took advantage of that fact. I distinctly recall talking to a few Madden and NCAA devs who had done that and I’m aware it happened elsewhere.

That doesn’t seem to happen anymore and I think we as gamers suffer. That’s not to say the devs don’t care, but do they care about modes like franchise and play it themselves to care.

no kidding, just look at madden. franchise mode is basically nonexistent in Madden these days, it's all about My Team and microtransactions to milk as much money as possible out of the player base.

At this point I wish sports games would split their My Team modes off into free-to-play offerings like Fortnite and have a dedicated team to work on offline modes but we know that'll never happen because there is no money in it.

I would like to get into OOTP but if I can't play the games then I just can't see myself getting into it. I will however be spending the money I was going to spend on the show on OOTP even if I don't play it to support Ridin for all of the enjoyment he has given me out of this game over the years.

I really had fun going back and forth and participating in these forums this year. Even the guys who I didn't necessarily agree with it has been real. It's a sad day, this will be the first time the show is not a day one pick up for me since David wright was on the cover and this may be the first time I actually skip completely. Good luck to everybody this year, and for those of you sticking with it, I hope you enjoy it. See you guys in the madden forums in August.
I may be out of the loop as i'm not on the forum every day, but this is news to me that OSFM will be greatly delayed. Last I read they were on track to release earlier than ever. I know ridin got a new gig with OOTP, but didnt realize there was going to be a delay in OSFM release and am unsure if it's related.

I tried to look in the roster forum but couldnt find anything to substantiate this information. What are the sources and reasoning?

It might take another company an entire console generation cycle to be relevant and catch up to what the show has at this point, but if they focused on the right areas they could be make a dent in the market. at least we've been lucky that 2k still has an insanely robust offline my league mode. can't say the same about EA with Live or Madden. (i haven't played fifa or nhl in a few years so can't really comment on those).

It’s been discussed in all of the OSFM roster threads to a degree but if you go to the thread OSFM for 19 you will see his tweets where he announced the delay.

There's guys in the OSFM for 19 thread that have stepped up in a huge way and are going to get something out... Read through the thread if you have a chance.

There is one upside to realistic contracts. Previously when a player was called up from milb to MLB he retained his milb salary which caused him to automatically be unhappy and having a slight negative impact on his morale.

If implemented properly this will fix that problem. Not a huge deal but it was on my list of things which needed to be fixed in franchise.

I hope this is the case. But I'm guessing if a guy is signed for 80k, after he is brought up his salary will stay the same.

Unless it's a MLB restriction they really should add relocation next year.
I'm talking about a simple relocation feature. No division realignment or stadium editor. Just let us pick a team to edit the name, city , logo and uniform. They basically have all the modules already.

Relocation alone would revitalize the mode.
We don't ask for 200 new features to Franchise mode each year but at the minimum one major one.

Then don’t add it. Really? How about doing it right. If we had a relocation feature not being able to do things like in 2K’s My League or NHL 19 it would be so half baked.

A bone? No I would want a meal. And SDS would not throw out a limp feature like a simple relocate feature like you mentioned above. It has been talked about so much....if they just did what you suggest? It would be laughable and ridiculed.

I don't mind if they do it incrementally as long as they do it.
It's better to have a bare bone relocation system in The Show 20 and an updated relocation feature in The Show 21 than no relocation at all.

Anyway there should be some sort of a relocation feature or custom team in the next edition. Pretty inexcusable that we still don't have this (unless, like I said , it's a MLB licensing issue).
