I'm loving how important fielding ratings are this year. Played against the A's and Matt Chapman made two incredible plays at the hot corner

Can we not have a framerate pissing contest please? Some see it, some don't. Let's move on.

One negative thus far is I still think CPU baserunners are too aggressive on balls in the dirt. They seem to take off the minute the ball hits the dirt, thus leading to a few silly outs if the ball doesn't bounce far away. On the other hand, because they are aggressive, any ball that the catcher has to move to get (come out of stance) then they are safe it seems. CPU runners still don't seem to take a split second to determine where the ball is going in relation to the catcher once it hits the dirt.

Even tho I like the improvements so far It feels like I paid for a software update. Guess us offline franchise players just going to have to deal with the neglect to franchise mode.

I just gave up a 479 FT bomb to Giancarlo Stanton on a hanging slider. Exit velocity was 103 mph.

            Wow!

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)

Soon as I turned the game on, jumped into Yankees vs A's....I knew the game felt different.
The ball seems to jump off the bat a lot more realistically than any other iteration of The Show, ever.

I am in the middle of playing my third game right now, all with different results...which is great.
In the past I always had a lot of low scoring games, now it seems like mistakes are hammered more and there is more hit variety.

              1. Yankees vs A's - won 2-1 with Chapman striking out the side in the 9th...I thought here we go again low scoring, but...

              2. Yankees @ Mariners - won 7-5. I got out to an early lead when I hit HRs with Judge and Sanchez in the first. Sanchez HR was impressive because it was a laser to left-center field that never died. Judge tacked on a monster bomb later in the game and had a 3 or 4 additional extra base hits from Gleyber and Luke Voit. It got dicey in the 9th with a 4 run lead and Britton on mound, and I had to bring in Chapman to get final out with winning run on base.

              3. Phillies vs Pirates - walked a batter with 2 outs in the first inning with Nola, and Cervelli came up and hit a 2-run, 2 out HR. I am thinking this game is going to be rough for me....but then the first 3 batters of the game get on and with the bases loaded Hoskins hits a booming double into the right-center field gap. Clears bases. Then I get a couple more hits, a low line drive HR from Herrara and I bat around. Second inning more of the same. First 2 guys get on, Harper hits an absolute bomb for a 3-Run jack. Realmuto tacks on another bomb of his own. I bat around AGAIN. Jean Segura is 3 for 3 by the 2nd inning! I am currently in the Top of 4th and I am up 14.......14! to 2.

I am loving how different each game felt, how different each team played, and how well balls feel off the bat. I still think pitching is a little too easy, but I am only playing on HoF and I think last year I got up to Legend. But its early and have not even touched the sliders.

The presentation looks great, fielding is smooth, and the game sounds are improved. It is early but I can already tell there are a lot of "under hood" things that have been cleaned up.

Here is to hoping this is "it".

I hear you on this, but there are a lot of things in MLB The Show that cannot be "patched" into a version of a game. I think the lack of solid contact by non-power hitters is something that has plagued the series for a long time. They needed to fix this at its core and I think they have done so.

That alone is worth it, because through three games I am seeing more balls that are timed perfect and hit on the nose, act like they should...more so than I did at any point in MLBTS 18 or previous.

That "patch upgrade" alone is worth it for me because its been my biggest complaint. It is still early and I gotta dive in more obviously, but initial impressions on hitting are positive for me.

I never said u made it up or it’s a fake complaint, but overblown is a very good way of describing this.......every single year its the same thing and the majority of people can barely see it, but you’d think it was gonna end the development of the game the way people talk...... it’s annoying because it tends to derail threads

Do you have it set to Faster, Balanced, or Sharper?

I think everyone agrees that Faster and Balanced are the only ways to play The Show. Regardless of the TV, the game itself is choppy when Game Resolution = Sharper.

Unless you are super picky about resolutions you probably won't even notice the difference. Game looks great and HDR is pretty good IMO. However, I am not super picky about things like this. The game looks good on any HDTV, even non 4K.

Ok...while I appreciate the pre-pitch cameras, I turned them off. They just started taking me out of the flow of the game if that makes sense.

I may put them on rarely and see what happens, but on ALWAYS, man they really disrupt the flow of the game for me.

With that said, they do show off how beautiful this game is and have some really cool camera angles.

You can put it on High Leverage and it should only show when there is something big happening. Payoff pitch, big AB, etc...

Middle ground between Always and Rarely.
With that being said, I agree a little...

I got so used to just pressing "X" between batters that when a Pre-Pitch pops up I end selecting my primary pitch instead. I stepped off a few times already because of that.

I will spam "X" less now and try to enjoy presentation more.

Played one game and I’m excited to play more.

They did a great job with stances and swings this year. Harper and Herrera were most notable in the game I played.
