I am seeing this issue as well. I try to sign a Free Agent player to a minor league deal during the season. All spots are filled on my 40-man and MLB 25-man rosters but it still puts them on both MLB and 40-man rosters.

    Any advice??

Have to be in Majors AND be a starter. In training go to bullpen and scroll down.
Closers only get 3 pitches this year.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Q&A Thread

Hey guys, brand new MLB The Show player here as I just bought a PS4 the other day.

I started a franchise with the Marlins to try to rebuild them and have a couple questions regarding progression of players.

            1. Can someone explain to me more in depth the potential ratings (A,B,C,D)? I'm a little confused by what they do exactly in franchise mode and how they affect the player's ratings and how they play long term. Will a 20 year old prospect with C potential ever really become a star or should you stick with worrying about the A and B prospects? Will a B potential rating ever jump to A?

            2. How long do you guys keep your top prospects down in the minors (AAA or AA) before promoting them to higher levels or MLB? Do you promote them after having a good month? Good half season? Just curious how you guys play it.

            3. Can someone explain to me the 20-80 ratings in terms of scouting? I'm a little confused how the 20-80 rating scale translates to actual stats.

Any and all help will be very appreciated!

            Thanks in advance!

              1. Potential is essentially a player's ceiling. The higher the potential, the higher the max rating will be. Here's the thing, they will go up and down depending on performance.

              2. Do it like real life.

              3. This is a VERY rough breakdown as to how most scouting services use the scale
              80 - Perennial All-Star/future HOF potential (e.g. Mike Trout)
70 - All Star player (e.g. Paul Goldschmidt)
60 - First Division Starter, occasional All Star (Didi Gregorius)
50 - Second Division Starter, 1st division reserve (Josh Bell)
              40 - backup player/AAAA-type (Tyler Austin)
              >40 - career minor leaguer
Play the games you love, not the games you want to love.

Anybody know what kind of penalty pitchers receive while pitching with no energy left?

Is there any penalty or just more risk to injury?

Or just a hit to stamina next game?

I believe that it makes you more prone to injury as well as effects control as well as "lowers" ratings such as h/9 & HR/9

I’m looking at potential trades in my Royals franchise. Might try to go after a top starter for a playoff run. My budget has plenty of room ($100 million in player salary, projected revenue of $147 million, remaining budget of $47.64 million).

Yet any trade I look at where I take on more than $500k additional salary says it cannot be completed for budgetary reasons.

Anyone know why? Can we just not add salary during the season? I’ve specifically constructed my roster so that I have this kind of flexibility. Kind of pointless to save money if you can’t spend it in trades.

(I can spend it in free agency, though, so I know it’s accessible.)

When the CPU leaves a reliever in with no energy I end up with 15 runs on 20 hits. Probably a bad idea.

Hi Everyone- I’m going to start my franchise when the new OSFM equipment edits release.

Have the issues with contracts/budget been fixed? I’m not sure of the exact issues, but I’ve seen threads that budgets are not working as intended.

If nothing has been fixed, do you have a workaround for franchise mode?

                        Thank you!!

I have a question about the umps. Today I’ve changed the settings for umpires from personalized to MLB average. During the game I’m currently playing the commentary still goes into detail about the umpires tendencies.

Anybody know if there is a difference how the game will be called or not?

But one thing I really disliked about last years game as an exclusive offline franchise player was the huge difference in base running speed for the AI vs my players. It was particularly galling to see the AI be able to score from third when the ball got three feet from a catcher while my players would be cut down on balls to the backstop. Is that still in this year?
Yeah pretty much. I hate this actually. It's really frustrating to give up runs to the CPU that I know for a fact I couldn't pull off the same play if it were the other way around.

That and the inconsistency with the umpires giving a better strike zone to the CPU pitchers than myself is frustrating at times. It's not as overpowering as the base-runner speed though, in my opinion.

Sounds like you have need to set your team management to manual instead of Auto. I have had no problems with my lineups resetting, changing, etc. except when I have an injury. I don't play with legends though so I don't know if that would make a difference.
