Re: MLB The Show 19 Q&A Thread
You can play ‘19 and wait for info on ‘20
If you like what you see in regards to ‘20 you can transfer your franchise save from ‘19 to ‘20

Re: MLB The Show 19 Q&A Thread
I consider myself knowledgeable when it comes to the show but there is one thing I have been wondering.
I know that if you sit on the last day of the off-season then wait until the next year's game comes out you can then simulate that day on the new game to get the new schedule for the next season. For example, you could use 18 then simulate that last day on 19 and get the 2019 schedule.
My question is, if you are in a future year, aka my futures Indians franchise at the end of 2026, and I sit in the last day of the off season and then when I get 20 and simulate to the spring, do I get the 2020 schedule or would I get a generated one from 19 (aka the schedule switching)?Funkycorm

Re: MLB The Show 19 Q&A Thread
I had a couple of questions about The Show...
I am on Xone, so can't get this year's game, but plan to next year when it is available.
How long do games normally take? One thing I LOVED about MVP baseball (besides it being fun) is that I could play a game in 20-25 minutes, while it took closer to an hour on 2K Baseball which was a pain. With baseball seasons so long, quicker games are important because I like to get thru several years and get to prospects.
Also, is there a way to turn off extra animations/clips? I don't care to see all the cutscenes that some games have now. I just want to pitch and hit, not see all the fluff.
Thanks for the help!Comment

- Full "Broadcast" presentation 9 inning games can take on average 2+ hours to play if you do not button mash between plays.
- "Fast Play" presentation 9 inning games with "Quick Counts" disabled can take on average about 1 hour to play.
- "Fast Play" presentation 9 inning games with "Quick Counts" enabled can take on average about 30 to 45 minutes to play.
- "Player Lock" 9 inning games where you only play the plays that affect the player you are controlling take on average about 10 minutes play and will be even shorter if you do not play the base running experiences.
PS: "Fast Play" presentation is the way to cut down on extra animation clips. But some of the biggest delays are still revolved around how long it takes the pitcher to throw the ball.Last edited by My993C2; 01-30-2020, 03:49 PM.Comment

Quick counts: speeds up the game by generating a count for every at bat, resulting in much fewer pitches the player actually sees as much more action.
Player lock: allows you to play a game from a single player's perspective as if you were playing Road to the Show (career mode). You can select which player when setting your lineups before a game.
Quick Manage: menu based manager mode (there is a fully rendered manager mode as well if you want the authentic full fat experience). Quick manage has really good implementation, and the best part is you can hop in and out of it at will, there is no limits on when it how often you can use it.
Key Moments: when turned on and while simming games, key moments will stop the simulation and give you the option to play a key moment in a game (example: down by 1 late in a game with a runner in scoring position). You can still choose to sim past these moments of you wish.
I personally use quick manage a lot. I play every pitch of every game at the MLB level, but quick manage all of my minor leagues. I'll sometimes hop in on a few plays to "scout" my players.

I should also mention carry over saves. You can carry over a save from one iteration of the franchise to the next, so you don't have to rush to get to your prospects. I'm currently in the year 2021 of a team I started in 2014. My current Ace was my 2014 first round draft pick.

Oh also save and exit. You can save and exit a game at any point, so you don't always have to play a full 9 innings. I do it all the time.
Sorry for spamming posts but I keep remembering things.

Too bad the game plays so slow (that'd be longer than any game I've played). I loved being able to play a game if I had 20-30 minutes on MVP Baseball. With 162 game seasons that is important when you like to rebuild teams.
Quick counts sounds interesting, but feels like it will take away some of what I do with that in effect.
I just want the game to go from pitch to pitch and don't care for all the wasted time with other interactions.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 19 Q&A Thread
Games generally take about an hour and change if you fully play them out, but there are a ton, and I mean a ton, of options for you to use of you want to get through games and seasons faster. There are so many I'm not sure I can make a comprehensive list, but here are some highlights.
Quick counts: speeds up the game by generating a count for every at bat, resulting in much fewer pitches the player actually sees as much more action.
Player lock: allows you to play a game from a single player's perspective as if you were playing Road to the Show (career mode). You can select which player when setting your lineups before a game.

Wish the game moved faster. I loved being able to play a game if I had 20-30 minutes on MVP Baseball. It was just pitch to pitch without other interactions wasting time.
The season is so long and I like to rebuild teams, but if I sim much I feel like it's not really my team.
On Quick counts, how does it work for pitching? Does it make it 2-2/3-1 on hitters and you go from there?
I save and quit on Madden/NBA games, but play much shorter seasons (36? on NBA), so doing it on Baseball would't help with progressing much.Last edited by spoofrice11; 02-04-2020, 01:14 PM.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 19 Q&A Thread
I was resistant to it initially, but I found Quick Manage a great way to stay involved with the team. I feel very involved in my minor leagues, and the vast majority of my interactions with them is through quick manage.
If you want to play out every pitch, I think the fastest you can get it down to is an average between 30 and 40 minutes. I'm not sure though it's been a long time since I played with fast play on.
Combining fast play and quick counts can probably get you down to 20 minutes games. Heck I can see that setting getting 10 minute games on the odd occasion.
Quick manage games take about 3 to 5 minutes.
Like I said, there are a ton of options. I'm sure you can find one you'll like.
