Re: MLB The Show 19 Q&A Thread
I would start in regular season with cpu roster control on. The only number that doesn't carry over for me is 42. Jackie Robinson is the only player that can use it. There is a work around to the number thing. Has to do with overall rating. Example would be if there are two players on your roster with number 7, the player with higher overall will keep it. You have to send your guy down to single A, edit his number then call him back up once the other player is gone or re rated lower. Hope that helps.

Jackie Jensen. ..Yogi Berra...Whitey Kurowski...Johnny Mize...Eddie Mathews...Hank Aaron...just to name a few.
Tough to be an artist and perfectionist.
I'm like a dog and his bone on this one.
Spent many untold months trying to work around this number cluster muck.
Maybe the Show could prioritize this somehow. Come on guys.

Re: MLB The Show 19 Q&A Thread
Does anyone know what training type Speed cap training will show up in? I have the utility archetype, but haven't seen it once in any training including spam restarting about 100 or so times (on top of the few dozen times I've had training). Is anomaly the only one it reliably shows up for?Last edited by Gutie; 12-27-2019, 11:46 PM.Comment

I haven’t done a position player but for a pitcher I had never seen speed cap training ever. I figured it just was because I wasn’t using a position playerComment

Re: MLB The Show 19 Q&A Thread
Just got MLB 19 recently (I know I missed the PS Plus deal, but it was expired and I wasn't playing my ps4 much for a while) and am genuinely frustrated by the cap system (its why I hard dropped nba2k seeing it the only year i got it) and the fact I can't even raise my speed at all as an OF is tilting me. I'm almost resigned to becoming a slugger at this point.
Yeah its frustrating. I'm tempted to do a SP file for a bit. Btw, is it true you cant increase velo or is that me reading people who haven't grinded it out yet? My last version was 16, so.... this cap system is really aggravating. Why don't they let us opt in/out of it? Makes no sense.Comment

Not so subliminal messaging aside, yes you can increase pitch velocity.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 19 Q&A Thread
Can we do modest stadium capacity increases like WAY back when (like 09?) I legit didn't touch franchise in 16 because I was enjoying rtts mode so much. (Sadly my most recent mlb16 files got lost because I didnt back them all up via cloud before my old ps4 hard crashed).
Also, I am legit pissed that the homerun calls by other announcers are trash Vasgersian impersonations. I legit blew stubs for hawk's, and its ****ing matty v.
Side comment Legit wish they didnt ditch Harold Reynolds after like one year for the games. Wish theyd just bring in smoltz to call games, or at least someone else at this point, matty v getting tiresome after all these years doing every single game.Comment

My previous SP was a carryover from before the “training system” was created. I can’t swear for sure but I’m pretty certain you can increase velo. Lately I’ve been doing “RTTS” within Franchise, that way it isn’t so restrictive.Comment

Re: MLB The Show 19 Q&A Thread
Oh I intend on it, even though so many I've read seem to imply it's been neglected almost as badly as season mode in madden.

Things that have been upgraded:
Player morale: I'm going to give them an A for effort and a solid D for implementation on this one. The fact that you can't turn it off is annoying, but it the end it only has a minor impact on certain attributes.
Quick Manage: I thought I was going to hate quick manage, but I actually really, really like it. I'm an every pitch every inning kind of guy for my MLB team, but I always simmed my minors. Quick manage helped me get more involved with my minors without having to play out games. Plus, you can hop in at any moment and take full control, or hop out and quick manage the rest of a game. There is no limit to how much you can hop in or out, so I've used it before to do things like scout a specific player in my minors for a game.
New UI: I hate it, but I will admit it's a great setup for a new franchise player to learn the mode without missing important tasks, plus it does make the hectic offseason a lot easier to manage. Basically you have a front page that dynamically puts important tasks front and center. Most of the time it's in the way of the expert user, but it can help a lot for things like the beginning of the offseason.
Contract Extensions: Great addition. There are some minor issues to bang out but it's still great to be able to negotiate contract extensions with players.
Key moments: I don't use this one as I don't sim, but if you do sim games, turning on the "key moments" button will stop the sim and load up the game when certain key moments are identified, like being down by one with a runner on base late in the game, or a clutch pitching situation.
There are a few other minor additions as well. Overall, franchise hasn't improved much for the power user, but it is a much easier mode to handle and the for those who want to work through seasons faster there are a lot more and a lot better options. You can even use player lock and play franchise like it's a RttS!Comment

It's true franchise has been neglected, but there have been a few key things that have been added. However you no longer can do the small stadium upgrades or concession management like you could in the past.

Quick manage was definitely a game changer for me. Such a great featureComment

Re: MLB The Show 19 Q&A Thread
Hey guys.
I was just curious as to when the "add names" thread for this year's game will be added. I got my friend into this game last year and want to get his name onto it, since hes really loving franchise mode. Which is great, since he is from the UK and didnt follow baseball at all. Though, I've changed that.Comment
