They dont trade prospects because of the salary not matching. Vet for vet trades are to match salaries and fill a need. That is the problem with real contracts.

You do not see teams get a player and trade prospects.

This was a large thread after "real" contracts came.

I was hoping that this "feature" would be built on and refined with some logic changes this year.

In my extensive experience with this series, I’ll just say, don’t hold your breath. If they had adjusted budgets to create more realistic contracts they would have pointed this out again and again in a stream and patted themselves on the back. Guarantee you the in-game economy is exactly the same as last yet. No change whatsoever.

It's why I don't understand how real contracts and real minor league players can be touted as game changing new features.

The end user had the ability to edit these already. The reason not to was the logic didn't allow it to work correctly.

For the dev's its relatively easy to add real contract and minor leaguers. They just import through a data base.

Does anyone know if they fixed in season contracts at all? Think we could do it at only very certain spots last year ( like before Spring training ). Not sure why this has been an issue forever, just let us re sign players year round. Its like they don't want us to have that ability.

I use 30-team control and each year during free agency I make sure the big-market guys get realistic offers from teams that would actually do so.

I just want the logic adjusted. Teams don't make realistic trades due to thinking players are overpayed.

You mean the in-season contract extensions they added-in LAST YEAR?

I think they're doing it to mimic real life to a degree. Once the regular season starts, you don't see few extensions handed out. You might see a small flurry right around the trade deadline (such as extensions done to facilitate trades) and that's the other phase where they allow them.

I don't think it's that big of a deal either way. But...is there a reason why it's a big deal to you? I'm just trying to understand your angle here.

I just don't get why they put restrictions and time frames on it. If i want to do it a month into the season, let me do it. Its not like in real life GMs are limited to 2-3 times a year when they can negotiate contracts.

I can't find a reason to complain about it, I mean, it's in there now, and it works.

Say you forget to do it the 2 times your allowed, and save the game. Then your basically screwed when free agency comes. Why not allow it anytime is all I'm saying. Just because its in the game doesn't mean it can't be improved upon. Don't even think this is a big request. I'd like to hear why the devs choose to limit this.

How about a compromise, like, they make the contract extension times so obvious in the menu that we CAN'T forget ....... 😎

You do also have 5 day exclusive negotiating rights with players to start the off season. You can offer it to them then as well. Just save before you offer and keep doing till you get the desired result if you want. But there is a final opportunity there to do it.
