Re: Question for manage mode users
Yea - I was wondering if players had ACTUAL streaks (as opposed to random luck streaks). Hot and cold months and so forth.Comment

Re: Question for manage mode users
All of mine are cold! Not to mention my team ERA of over 9 for the first four games. Pitching staff in shambles so had to dig into AAA for game#5 tonight (hopefully win one!)Comment

Re: Question for manage mode users
This is why I preferred Season over Franchise. Every player regresses at the beginning of the season in franchise, even really young ones (but apparently mine regress more than any of my opponents because we can't win real early in the season). In season play you didn't have progression/regression.Comment

QUESTION - is there a way to make the ball larger or so I can see it better? Any tips?Comment

Yea - I should really play Season as opposed to franchise knowing my past. I play Strat-o-Matic in a pretty competitive league I rarely (ever?) play more then one season even though I tell myself THIS YEAR.

As far as I know, there is no way to adjust ball size.Last edited by JHodges57; 04-03-2019, 09:46 AM.Comment

Re: Question for manage mode users
I'm aware the default player ratings are based on their previous 3 years of performance, but I still think Yelich's are underrated. IMO his power should be at least 80+.Comment

Re: Question for manage mode users
Hi all, thanks for all your responses earlier. I have just a few more questions before I think about giving the game a spin (I'm a huge baseball sim hobbyist who has usually played text-based games and am interested in realism).
1. When you play out a season, does the game track fatigue? Is there a realistic injury system?
2. Do you typically play out one season or franchise? In either, how to you stop the AI from making terrible GM decisions? -- which is a problem in every sim.
3. Does the AI use its bullpen effectively? Or do you see wonky managerial decisions?
4. Lastly, do better rated fielders make a noticeable difference over the course of a season? Or, does it appear that the game engine is mostly just factoring in pitcher-hitter ratings?
Thanks a bunch, in advance.
2 - I continue the franchise for multiple season. Currently waiting to buy mlbts 19 until I see some positive news regarding the new team budgets which are apparently messed up due to realistic contracts. There are a few poor GM decisions but not really any more than IRL. They have done a pretty good job over the years of making AI GM smarter.
3 - People will always complain but bullpen AI is okay. Sometimes they leave a guy in too long but other times they pull the pitcher early.
4 - Better rated fielders make a difference at the positions where they make a difference IRL.
Also I have strict self imposed trade restrictions to severely limit ripping off the AI in trades.≡Comment

Re: Question for manage mode users
I'm sure they applied the same formula to Yelich as everybody else. What they do as a judgement call is the player's potential rating. It seems to me the big market teams get more love in potential ratings I suspect because there is a large market for the game in places like New York, Chicago and Los Angeles. For example last year Cleveland's Jose Ramirez had a C potential rating. They would never have done that to a Yankee but I didn't mind it because it made Jose Ramirez easier to acquire in a trade.≡Comment

Re: Question for manage mode users
I have a question about pitcher option. Has anyone ever gotten a strike from a pitcher when you tell the to pitch aggressive?
To me, the option doesn't work. Didn't work last version or the version before. Seems like it makes them pitch around.
Even with a pitcher who has excellent control facing a pitcher who can't hit. 3-0 or 3-1 count on that pitcher, tell my pitcher to pitch aggressive...ball 4. I have never seen a strike from the option.Comment

2 things which need to be cleaned up in MOM as of mlbts 18. First sometimes the AI pitches around a batter with the user team in the field and there seems to be no way to prevent it.
Second if the AI defense expects a sacrifice bunt the user controlled batter will no swing at a pitch. He will either walk or strikeout swinging unless you instruct him to bunt. This was not previously the case in manage mode. What's odd is the AI team will swing at pitches when the user controlled defense on auto fielding expects a bunt. I strongly suspect somehow the devs flipped the code - why they would do that and break something that previously wasn't broken is a mystery.
Don't own 19 yet - can't say if this was patched - I wouldn't expect it to be despite bug report sent because manage mode doesn't seem to be high on the list.
Not game breakers but small things which should be fixed..≡Comment
